View Full Version : I Can't Stand Antonella Nester

I just found this site and this is my first posting. I wish the Q would look at some of these postings for the real deal on viewer's opinions about hosts. Personally, I can't watch Antonella Nester. I've watched the Q for over 10 years, but she is the limit! I seriously believe that she does no prep before her programs. It is painful to see her do beauty shows and refer to products as "this stuff' like the product just arrived from outer space.

Any comments?

I've only seen Antonella present cookware. She seemed very upbeat but I dont recall her say "this stuff". I do like her dark lipstick!

I like her, she's funny. She kind of reminds me of an italian, drunk, Anna Nicole Smith.

I love Anna Nicole, as long as you put tape over her mouth!! Anna Nicole is stunning.

They posted a very bad picture of her on the QVC host page. She looks so bad and her nose looks so big.

I'd take Antonella over Ms.Shore any day!!!

Antonella has gotten better since she first started, I like her offbeat personality.

Don't think that Antonella is really QVC material. Sorry, but that's how I feel. And she doesn't resemble Anna Nicole in the very least. Anna Nicole has her problems but she is beautiful. Too bad she can't handle her life. Wonder how long before we see Antonella with blonde hair, bobbed nose, and unwidened smile. Can they unwiden a smile? LOL

Ruffles, I agre with you 100%. Antonella seems like a very nice person, but I do not think she is a good host; she is very boring, she never says anything interesting, and she does not seem prepared for her shows. I do not like her black lipstick--I think she would look much better with a softer shade.

I don't know if I'd say I can't stand her but, she is definitely not one of my favorite hosts. I think in her bio on QVC.Com it says she was a medical technologist before winning her QVC job in the contest. You can tell she never did any kind of media and/or sales work before. Some of the other hosts don't have the experience either but what they did do isn't as much of a stretch as medical technologist is. Sheila Johnson trained software sales people, for example. Patti Reilly worked in a SPAMSPAMSPAMSPAMSPAMSPAM. I think Leah Williams sold radio advertising. Atoinella must have really knocked 'em dead in that contest!

I agree, princess. Her picture is horrible. She looks "weathered" but I was surprised to see her live. She is actually pretty, in her own way.

The host I'm feeling is very poorly prepared and iritating to watch is Sheila. I wish they would get rid of her and Laurie Shore. I'd much rather watch Antonella than those two but I agree the black lipstick has gotta go!

Kathy, I agree with you about Sheila. I watched the first 10 minutes of my beloved Bare Escentuals show this morning, but I had to switch it off because she was annoying me too much. Sometimes I find myself reacting to the host's personalities the way I do people I meet face to face. Sheila is not someone I think I would like to spend time with, so I spend no time with her on the Q...LOL Antonella, on the other hand, is someone I think I would.

I saw Sheila on the Bare Essentials Show this morning and she did seem unprepared. What stood out most for me was what happened right at the beginning of the first presentation, for the foundation. Either she forgot or didn't know that there are actually 4 shades for women of color. After the lightest shade for women of color was mentioned, Sheila said something like "Okay, let's go to the models." Leslie had to gently remind her that there were 3 more shades to mention.

The thing that really has me confused is this: If QVC, or any company for that matter, hires a person to do a specific job AND is willing to train the new hire TO DO the job, WHY do they insist on putting a person that is obviously not ready in such a pressure cooker situation such as live televesion??? What is the rush people??? They say that "after a six month training period" so-and-so was made an official host. If that person is not yet 100% ready, comfortable and prepared to do the work needed to DO a good job, I say keep them off of the air until they can cut it. I know that other posters have given Jayne Brown as an example of a host that needed to polish up her act a little at the beginning. Sure, the yips and the jitters are expected, but this is just becoming painful to watch. Are these new hosts under the impression that they have the ability to "wing it"? Do the senior hosts make it look that easy to the newbies? Who the hell is watching and evaluating the quality of their presentations? Just us posters, I guess...

If I were an exec at QVC, I'd fire Antonelle after this early morning's Expressions in Gold show. She keeps talking about how she loves the jewelry but it's too expensive for her, and she "can't spend $700 on jewelry." She talked about a ring costing about that and said "I can't spend $700 on a ring!
That may be true, and many of us can't but I don't think the QVC bosses will be exactly thrilled with her if they see the tape of this show.

Hershey, I didn't see that, but I agree with you. I can see telling viewers that it is a large investment, but one you will only make once. Or some other such nonsense..LOL. But never, ever would I say, "gosh, I can't afford this".

I don't remember her saying she couldn't afford the things in the Gold Expressions Show either but, if she did say it, they need to have a serious talk with her. I do remember her saying, at the top of the show, that the jewelry they were presenting could be put a trash can and the trash can would look better. The guest definitely did not like that!

I enjoy Antonella... she is not a cookie-cutter version QVC host. I like people who are unique and honest. There is an article about her in the QVC Insider this month with several pictures. I also like the fact that she has a real woman's body. I remember when Renai Ellison was a model and then host on QVC. I think she was a plus size model and she made an excellent host, but she left for some reason.

Sunshine, I remember her! She was on when I first started watching QVC. Even as a model, her personality shone through, and I was not surprised when she became a host. I never did know why she left, but if you remember, Leah was more plus-size when she started, and I kinda thought the first time I saw her that QVC was trying to replace Renai.

I think Antonella is a great host for QVC. She is a gorgeous woman with a great
personality. I feel she knows the products she is selling. I get up early in the morning and turn on QVC and hope to see her on.

I think Antonella has come a long way! She was/ is a little rough around the edges sometimes, but I kind of find it refreshing. Her makeup is really prety these days and so is her hair. I think she needs to go up a size in her suits sometimes she has hips and I say that in a nice way I do also.
I think the days of the dark nail polish and lipsticks are gone. I don't really blame her for that. There are people that get paid to handle that. They dropeed the ball on that. She should never been allowed on without a makeover.

Acura, I totally agree that Antonella has come a long way. I always liked her personality, but she has grown so much as a host. She is definitely one of my favorites now, mainly because she is unique and seems so real.

Antonella has definately grown on me. I wasn't every sure in the beginning, but after watching her for a while now I actually enjoy her honest approach to the products. It is far better than some of the other hosts that always sound "scripted" to me. jmho

She's growing on me ... but do think the make-up is a bit harsh ...

I think the more time Antonella has in front of the camera the better she will become as a host. We might be surprised, she could very well turn out to be one of the favorites of QVC.

I agree the makeup is a bit harsh. Makeup artists claim the older you get, the less makeup you should wear. Maybe if Antonella toned it down a bit she might be surprised how much younger she would look.

I'm also a fan of Antonella's. She may not be a ravishing beauty (personally, I don't think any of the hosts are, except maybe Lena), but she has a very down-to-earth personality. She doesn't try to be someone she's not and doesn't seem plastic or conceited. I like her.

It occured to me that if poor Antonella saw the original title of this thread, she would have no idea of how positive some of the posts regarding her are. :(

Wow, this is an old thread (2005!).

I really like her too. Her smile is genuine and infectious! I love that she's not trying to be something she's not. She acts goofy and has a good time, all the while doing a really nice job describing whatever item she is selling. IMO, she is one of QVC's best hosts!

When Renaee first started she messed up a lot but was always smiling. She got better as time went by. I saw her recently on Public television when they were hosting those oldie dowop groups. She was an emcee. She has lost much weight and is a natural before the cameras now probably due to her time spent on QVC.
