.....ok.......First off the two that got eliminated last night.....Ray and Deana...just announced their upcoming May wedding on The Early Show.
They were my least favorite couple, so ....who cares? lol
Quite a show last night ....kudos to Merideth and Gretchen......wow they are doing great! on a side note... I think it is so funny that some of the men on the other teams think Merideth is the wife. lol
The two brothers made it one of the best finishes ever! They seem like such nice guys.
I am sure you are all horrified at Rob and Amber for not stopping at the accident scene.....Here is my reasoning on their actions.....Well, Rob's actions, since he seems to dictate...she just giggles....He is a practical nonexciteable person........Having been in two other similar survival type reality show series...he is an old pro....he knows how it works.....he knows he would not be allowed to assist them...I mean really, what could he and Amber have done?.....he saw the gay guys there (doing nothing btw), with another vehicle, if needed.......he knows help is on the way.....and appeared to callously keep going. Would it have been nice to stop briefly like the others and say " Is everything ok?" (which obviously it wasn't), but yes, it would have looked nice. Would it have helped? Only Rob and Amber's rep.
No other team has been nice to Rob and Amber yet....strictly on the basis that they won money previously...on a totally different show! That is petty. imo. They didn't force their way on this show.
Slowing down would have been the right thing, but I think his mind was working the factors I listed above.
I do wish that he had at least given M&G some clothes or money, but I don't even think he was approached by them....at least they didn't show it. Again, it comes back to the fact that the others don't bother with him and Amber..they are treating them like outcasts....so why be nice? (That's Rob's reasoning)
I also think that if he did stop, that Lynne and Alex still would have had some sort of a problem with it...it was fake...insincere, blah blah blah.
Yes it was wrong...but it was soooo Rob.

I was thinking that Rob and Ambuh were going to be eliminated last night!! I got home a bit late, so didn't start watching until 9:20 or so....they were at the fast forward at the time....(which didn't help Deana and what's his name, did it?).......
I agree about the accident. There really was nothing they could do, although I am wondering why they didn't slow down (as you said, Scoops) to see if everyone was ok......for all they knew, it was a ploy.....
M&G are great!!! We were chuckling at everyone saying Merideth and she in the same sentence!!! :)
Lynn and Alex ~ well, they need to step it up, or they are going to be goners......but I do think I said that a couple of weeks ago as well, didn't I??? :) Maybe they will be the surprise couple......
I didn't realize it was a 2 hour show last night. I liked that. It was a pleasant surprise. It was also nice to combine a non-elimination leg within a 2 hour show. I didn't feel like the whole show was for naught.
I'm still liking this show, and don't feel it is "jumping the shark" like another reality "bachelor" based show is......
Has anyone heard about the casting for the family show? And when it is likely to air? It is the next one, right???
:)

I guess my faves would be... the brothers, the older couple, and Rob and Amber (Ambuh). Rob sure knows how to play the game. Love his Boston accent.

I'm starting to think I like all of the teams left!! I would be ok with all of them winning. Meredith and Gretchen have defied the odds, I think. I thought for sure they were goners when she fell last night. I can't believe she was encouraging him to find the clue as they were wrapping her head!!!
What did you think of the visit to the orphanage last night? I thought that was one of the most poignant things they have done on that show. I kept waiting for Uchenna and Joyce to arrive there. I knew it would be an emotional visit for them. I was thinking last night that it would be neat if they would go back there and adopt. Those kids were so cute, and sooooo pumped by the visits!!!! I kept seeing a little boy in a green shirt every time. I don't know why he popped out at me, but his face was priceless!!!

Morning ladies!
Scoops, I appreciate your support of Rob and Amber but last night they were just awful. "We have a guardian angel"....I wanted to strangle him. I do know that they are being edited in a negative tone. If you look closely, you can see Amber being hugged by the other contestants at times.
One question I have....the ending was as exciting as it could have been (yay!) and it didn't seem like the other teams were standing around waiting to see what happened. Do the producers shoo them away? I'd think they'd want to watch.
The accident....my goodness it was scary, and also weird how they broke the "fourth wall." I thought the cameraman looked like he was unconscious at first, and the woman whose lap his head was on....the sound gal?! Doesn't each team travel with 2, a camera and a sound person? And I could just feel Brian/Greg's anguish when he said, "I don't believe this is happening!" Very real drama and made for such a good episode.
Then for the guys to make such a comeback....they are TRUE competitors (and VERY able bodied which made the difference when they sprinted at the end)....needless to say, Brian and Greg are my new favorites!!!!
The. Best. Episode(s). Ever. I. M. O.

Hi Susan!......Phil K did say this was his favorite season by far.
I am enjoying it very much also.....for those of you that don't love rob and Ambuh....they are at least good for a little comic relief.....I mean, my goodness they are so unflappable, and just do the darndest things!
Susan, you said the other contestants are hugging Amber.......really? I missed that totally. I have seen locals hugging her, but never the competition. Do you recall who? It just would add an interesting element to know who accepts them.

I haven't seen them, either. I would like to know. I can't wait to hear what Rombuh have to say about the editing on this show......

Loved last night's show- I am so glad that Ray and Deanna are gone and they were beaten by Meredith and Gretchen, who Ray loved to make fun of- Karma is a good thing.
Scoops I totally disagree with you about Romber- they are disliked because of how they act and treat others, not because of Survivor. It might have been Survivor in the beginning, but their actions are showing what jerks they are....here is what I posted at a yahoo group last night.
Tonight's episode showed why I cannot stand this team. When I first
heard that they would be on the race, I did not think they should be
because of being on Survivor. Now I don't want them on the race
because I think they are assholes. Here are some of the reasons why
I do not like them...
"I think he pushed her on purpose".
Getting all high-and-mighty when Lynn and Alex did not share the car -
He would have treated Lynn & Alex the same way they treated him.
They are hypocritical. Rob can't be bothered to help Meredith &
Gretchen, but he expects Lynn & Alex to wait on him hand and foot. I guess everyone has forgotten how they stole the cab a couple weeks ago?
He then states that Meredith and Gretchen are the biggest scammers,
has Rob not looked in the mirror? To me he is the biggest scammer
there is, and how come everywhere they go there are fans? Hmmm, I
just find that interesting that in South Africa people know them from
Survivor and will bend over backwards to help them.
They cannot stop to ask if Brian and Greg are ok? Or even slow down
and ask by yelling out the window? I know it is a race, but I would
think that if you are a decent human being, your first thought would
be to find out if anyone is hurt. Instead these jerks giggle about
it on the mat when Phil asks them about it.
You are right Scoops, there is nothing they could have done, but a good person would not have to think about stopping or not, it is automatic reaction of asking if everyone is ok or not.
They are scum and I hope they are eliminated soon. I am glad to hear
that the camerman is ok.
Amber is just as bad- she could not do the shopping without someone's help- does she have a brain? He is asking her to make a decision at the FF and she cannot even do that- she is the same as in Survivor- let everyone else make the decisions for you since she cannot think or act on her own.

Amber, Rob to run 'The Amazing Race'
Western Pennsylvania's "Survivor: All-Stars" winner Amber Brkich
will appear in the 7th edition of CBS's "The Amazing Race,"
premiering March 1, running around the globe with her fiancee,
fellow "Survivor" star Rob Mariano.
"They're a very strong team, very competitive," said "Amazing
Race" executive producer Bertram van Munster. His wife, "Race"
co-creator Elise Doganieri, said Amber and Rob called "Race"
"their second favorite reality show."
Running the "Race" is "something that strengthens a team or
tears them apart," Doganieri said. "I'm sure they had intimate
discussions we didn't hear, but they're a strong team. They work
well together."
"You see them as a team rather than as singles competing," van
Munster said, contrasting their "Race" appearance with how
viewers saw them on "Survivor: All-Stars."
That won't be the last we see of Amber in prime time.
"I'm working on their wedding," said "Survivor" executive producer
Mark Burnett. He indicated it will air on CBS, the "Survivor"
network, possibly as a May sweeps special or as a short-run
summer series.
*******A SHORT-RUN SERIES????????????????????
Hi S,S &M
03-30-2005, 09:19 AM
Oh my gosh........what a great finish! I could feel myself running with them. lol Susan, you are right...they are strong. Loved they left the loser guy in the dust. lol
A big "ugh" for Rob & Amber. I just don't like their antics. I agree with whoever said Amber just giggles and Rob just talks in hopes of making the video tape replays. How dopey was A when R wanted her to make a decision on walking that wooden ladder? Ugh, say something...anything! lol Yesterday was awful.....I could not stand them. (sorry Mackey...but I still like you) I also don't like that they have random people helping them because of their notariety from Survivor....that's just wrong. How on earth did they finish so strong is beyond me. lol
And, why on earth is Rob angry with the two 'partners?' Heck, they just did what Rob has been doing all along.
Now that the mom and son are out my faves are the brothers.
*I'm in a hurry, will post more later. Great, great finish last night.
Me again..
03-30-2005, 09:22 AM
Forgot to post one other thing.......I absolutely loved how the brothers ran into the orphanage high-fiving all the kids. Even when they were leaving they were still high-fiving. Oh, and 'stay out of trouble and don't do drugs.'
Love those guys!

I agree V- the brothers are great and I loved the finish! I should have taped it, that would be worth seeing again.
One more rant about Romber and last night:
As human being with ANY kind of soul or compassion, you are obligated to care when you see someone you know flipped over in a car and someone lying on the side of the road.
Meredith and Gretchen, Uchenna and Joyce slowed down/stopped briefly just to make sure they were ok. Rob and Amber could have done the same without losing their precious place in the race. I liked how Phil brought it up and asked them about it. Neither one seemed to know what to say. But they did giggle! Glad they thought it was funny.....

Not to be rude, but I honestly hope that if SOMEONE's car had to flip over last night, it should have been Rob and Ambers! I hate them more and more with each passing week; they're sooooo blah
As for the show itself, it was really really good...probably one of the best I've ever seen. When M&G had come in last at the non-elimination round, I really didn't like their new idea of getting rid of their money AND bags! That's practically a death sentence for a team IMO (luckily they pulled out of their rut and did quite well!)
I also thought it was really cute when that lady in Africa recognized Rob and Amber and she followed them right up to the pitstop...it was so funny when she was standing with them as well!
The team that got out last night (lol forgot their names!) really deserved to leave...they were kind of starting to evolve into last year's Johnathon and Victoria, particularly in last night's episode. I was thinking at any time he was gonna hit that poor woman with that pole they were using to mash up the flour.

I really gained a lot of respect last night for Uchenna and Joyce. Did you notice that they also gave M&G some of their clothes to wear? Wow!
Now, do you think they are headed anywhere cold any time soon? As in ~ will they miss their coats??????

hey gang....
Don't quote me on the "hugging Amber" thing....I just vaguely remember being a little surprised as the camera panned and I believe it was Gretchen who was squeezing her around the shoulders. It was very "background," if at all, and I can't for the life of me remember when or under what circumstances, or even if there was more than one incident. Maybe it will come back to me, or if the FoRT board comes back up, I can ask there.
We taped the last half hour of the episode so we could review the accident and we ended up watching the finish again about 4 times! It's so cool how Deana stops the car, and as Ray is jumping out, Brian/Greg's Hummer zooms up next to them, back door flies open, Brian/Greg GETTING OUT OF THE CAR as it moves! Then on the mat, they were SOOOOO emotional! Crying and "I love you, bro!"....Mom and Dad must be so proud to have raised such close brothers!
A true bore !!!
Not half as boring as your life apparently!! lol Have you gone for any walks yet today by any chance? <wink wink>

Here is part of an interview with Ray and Deana, from tvguideonline......an interesting perspective on Rob....
<<<TVG: Looking back, do you regret quitting the meat challenge?
Ray: No, we knew the rules. We decided ahead of time that I'd do everything with running, jumping and lifting and Deana would do everything else. Then we found out she had to eat four lbs. of meat and we knew we had made a huge mistake. So, at that point, we knew we might be going home because she's not going to eat it. And even if she did eat it, I wouldn't have made her do it because she would have been worthless the rest of the race. All Rob did was let us know how difficult a time everyone was having. We knew the penalty and that we were going to take that; we just thought we'd be eliminated with it. When he told us, "We're not finishing and you guys shouldn't either," we realized that the teams behind us were going to have a difficult time, too. It's not like he discovered the magic solution. He did a favor for us.
TVG: It sounds like you and Rob thought a lot alike.
Ray: Rob is a guy I know I could hang out with in real life. But there's a big difference between us: He doesn't care that people know that he's done this or that, and I did because I didn't want to put a target on our backs. Locking the bus doors in Chile was my idea. Rob spoke Spanish and he talked to the driver and he took the credit — or the blame — for it. I came up with the idea and he's getting all the flak because he basks in that bad-boy image. That's Boston Rob. And that's fine with me, because it worked to my benefit.>>>
