I have had enough of turning on QVC and seeing LisaR with her hair looking the way it does.
Bad hair days, here and there are understandable, we ALL have them, but it is a constant with her........
Today (Sunday morning) takes the cake......it's flat, it's hanging in her eyes and she keeps fussing with it whilst looking at herself in the monitor.........Why doesn't she just slick it back? She has the face for it.....or why doesn't she get hair extensions? Is she so beyond reproach that no one will tell her?
I know I'm rambling, but she's supposed to be a role model and it's annoying that someone so hopeless is in such a "revered" position!!
........I don't know of any job involving one's appearance (including my former, silly little job as a cosmetic business mgr) that would stand for such obviously sloppy grooming.......
Who the HELL is this woman sleeping with in corporate ???

Oh, Sparksy, (if I may call you that), I've said it before and I'll say it again: the poor girl just has such thin hair that she can't do much with it. I know, I know, that doesn't excuse it, but that's the reason (IMO). Obviously she's had the same style for about a zillion years and is nervous to come into this wonderful century. Maybe she's tried slicking it back and her eyebrows were just too noticeable. Who knows.

Sparks - Now you know why I was totally shocked when they had the FIRST Ask Lisa About Style and lit a candle when I saw the ad for the SECOND show. (Fellow Catholics will get the 'candle' reference!) There is no way Lisa R. can be considered stylish. (Sorry, Lisa Lovers) She may very well be a great gal but the hair, make up and 'Chicklet' nails must go. I am 43 and I can say that giving up some fashion/grooming routines I had was hard, but take it from me - I would not have people thinking I was YOUNGER if I stayed in my previous 'rut'. Her hair is dead from years of straightening and bleaching. Now, she only lines the OUTSIDE of her lips so her upper lip disappears under her nose when she smiles. Her hair looks best pinned up and most importantly WASHED! Her hair today was D I R T Y and do not tell me it wasn't! She goes by the old beauty contestant trick of washing your hair the day before. In her case, she needs it clean, every day - no exceptions. By the end of the show, she had it pushed back and was hunching her shoulders to keep it from falling into strings. Also, TOUCHING your hair makes it dirty, or in her case, dirtier. Yuck.
The other major peeve I have lately is the one hour shifts they have the hosts doing. What is up with that? I find it to be very distracting.

I hate the fact that all of the hosts - and some of the models - try to imitate everything that Lisa says, wears, or does. Even Mary Beth has gotten on the bandwagon. She's wearing white pants, and sorry, she is not a white pants woman. Recently, she said she goes to Lisa for a lot of fashion advice. Come on, guys. Just be who you are!
And Puddy, loved your candle reference! With Italian-Irish blood, I completely understand.

QVC should insist their hosts be more professional in their appearance and in their personalities. A perfect example is those stupid anniversary shows. Remember Patti's teenage behavior at Lisa's show? Allowing the hosts to wear jeans on shows that are not appropriate for jeans is not professional. If QVC wants to remain the top t.v. shopping channel they better make some improvements quick. They are losing good hosts to HSN which I despise. TPTB better start reading these boards if they want some good ideas. Obviously they don't have any.

While the one hour shifts do seem odd, look at the bright side: it means that we, the viewers, have to tolerate certain hosts for a mere 60 minutes and then they'll be on their way! Shall I name some hosts with whom one hour is 59 minutes too long....?!?!

As a lapsed Catholic, my first thought when I saw Lisa this morning (was she hungover?) was that she needs a whole Mass said, not just a candle lit! She has a look that worked for her in pageants 20 years ago and sees no need to change it. There is a temp in my office who is 55 and still wears long hair a la Farrah with long, unpainted claws for nails. It might have worked at a younger age in 1976 but looks silly now.

I couldn't agree more - Lisa R's hair was dreadful this morning. I just don't get her at all. For 2-3 weeks, she was really making an attempt to style her hair differently - it never lasts!
On another subject - Jane isn't my favorite, but she is 100% better than Jill Bauer! Don't miss Jill one bit!

Jane actually looks like a smug, self-righteous elf. In my experience, the people that brag the most about their "perfect" lives always have the most dirty laundry (figuratively and literally) hidden away in their closets.

When I first heard of JRT's return, I posted that she should do her shows while sitting atop a toadstool......At least she's had the sense to grow her hair long enough to cover those ears!!
Honestly though, the more I think about her and the elf reference, the more I think it's just a plain insult to elves......I mean, would J.R.Tolkien invite such comparisons? With the likes of Liv Tyler and Orlando Bloom portraying elves in Lord of the Rings, I simply must think of Jane as something else...... a gnome perhaps........ or since she's Irish..perhaps a leprechaun.........thereby making her husband; a Lepre-"Sean". *Oh, that was bad......*

I agree with Mammy--but even WORSE than allowing hosts to wear jeans on shows is allowing hosts to wear DIRTY jeans on shows! What's with that?
puddy
05-16-2005, 09:07 AM
Barbi - I have been BITCHING (yes, bitching) about the jeans for a while now. I know that QVC monitors these bulleting boards so they see everything we post. I do not care how much a pair of jeans is worth - they are still jeans. Unless an employee is in the warehouse or back stage, they need to follow the QVC dress code which is 'corporate casual'. That does not include jeans - jean shirts are acceptable and perhaps jean skirts. I think it started with Home Projects with Rick and Dan and has gone haywire. I remember MBR saying that the hosts are supposed to dress like news anchors. News anchors do wear jeans - UNDER THE ANCHOR DESK! Lisa R. is the biggest offender and wears jeans every Monday night lately. Jacque is the next one, and Dan Wheeler should never wear anything that will give him a camel toe.

okay, I have to put my two cents in, too. What IS the deal with Lisa R. wearing the same pair of jeans all the time? She wore them two days in a row last week. Are these going to be to spring what the winter white, too long, dragging on the floor, can't see your shoes pants were to winter? Another thing Lisa R., for God's sake, woman, stop waving and saying bye bye the way you do. I don't think 4-year-olds watch the show.

Hey, I can top that! Leave it to me to notice this but...during Patti's Cake-a-versary show, Lisa wore a white tank, dark blue jeans, pointy tan open backed shoes and a Dialogue tweedy jacket. This was a Sunday afternoon. On Monday night's PM Style show...ALL of the same clothes except for the jacket. She wore the jackets of the clothes she was selling that evening. I was curious about the undergarments. :O
Tacky, just lazy and tacky.

She (Lisa R) was wearing a really pretty dress a few nights ago ... a jewelry show, but can't remember what (diamonioque, gold ... DRAT). She was dressed up for some reason, and IMO, looked great (excpt for the same hair). I do think that when you dress up, you should (could) do something different with your hair ... wear it up or SOMETHING!

Do they have sylists? If so, they need new ones! You can really tell when one of the hair guru's is "in the house" cuz all the ladies hair is SO big and over done. Let's be honest ... they all have good days, but the bad outfits seem to be much more frequent!

I wonder what Lisa's credit card balance is. We know she doesn't buy "denim and company". By her jeans (I know some of you hate them, but they are VERY expensive..so she shows them off) and her shoes....the more than $4000-a-pair kind...her NYC hair appointments....(hundreds of $$$ for a trim) her $4000 watch....the multi carat diamond tennis bracelet....etc...
She must have a sugar-daddy somewhere.
lindabelll
05-16-2005, 12:42 PM
She may have a sugar daddy somewhere, but in real life, she sees Anthony, the food prep guy.
puddy
05-16-2005, 12:49 PM
Puh-leeze! Even she says the bracelet is Diamonique! As for the watch - could be real, could be a knock off. She talks about seeing knock offs in NYC all the time. (Clue: The knock offs are NOT on Fifth Avenue!)
If you think that hair is done by a really talented professional, you need to clean your television screen! Either SHE is getting ripped off at the salon and needs to find a new one or the stylist must be going out of business. Why do you think Lisa is not on with Peter Coppola? He can't do jack-crap with that head of hair.
As for the jeans - who cares? She should not be wearing jeans on television anyway. And $4,000.00 shoes??? I think you added an extra zero in that price, Kelli.

Kelli - Please don't shout. It detracts from your otherwise intelligent post. Lisa has stated on several occasions that the bracelet she wears is Diamonique. It is one of the first things she purchased when she started at QVC. As for a safety chain, I have not seen one on her bracelet. I watched yesterday morning (Diamonique show) and there was not a safety chain on her bracelet. Also, there is an invention called a 'jeweler' and anyone could pay to have one attached to any bracelet - real or fake.
As for her hair - if she is so well to do, maybe you could explain to her that salons in NYC know how to do extensions and wefts. Also, could you please explain why she feels it is acceptable to go on the air with DIRTY hair? It was dirty yesterday morning, btw.
Matronly or not, MBR is always groomed to perfection. Also, since when is the HOST the star of the show? Silly me! I thought it was the PRODUCT!

Lisa's Rolex is real. It was a gift from when she was "Pearl Princess". A long time ago she told the story and I actually emailed her about it and received a very pleasant response. I just happened to recognize it because I was looking for a similar one.
Here is something interesting I just discovered in Town and Country magazine.
Ivari.com it is for hair reconstruction. They have something called "Intra-dermic Micro point". It actually adds hair to your scalp to make it fuller and thicker. And oh yeah..This procedure starts, yes starts at 125,000 dollars. Nope, I didn't add a zero!

I am 50 and when I am not working I live in jeans. I agree with the folks who don't think jeans are a very professional look to present on tv. And sometimes lately they look dirty! I don't know whether it is just distressed denim or if they really do need washing, but it is not a good look overall. As a working professional, I feel there is an image you need to present - and I work in HR, not in front of millions of viewers!

Kelli - The hours I spend on this website will vary from day to day. If you read some of my older posts, you will see that I am an administrative assistant to a vice-president at a community college. We have busy days and slow days. Right now, it is very slow because it is summer. Also, we have switched to our summer schedule which is a four day work week. I am very lucky that I am able to have QVC up on my computer. (No elevator music in here!) I am also very lucky that I have an easy job and an easier-going boss. I can have this and other websites up and go to them when time permits. We have several hours at a time when the systems are updated and cannot be accessed. I work hard when there is a project or deadline and as long as my work is done, everything is cool with the boss-man.
As for me wearing jeans - yes I do. We are allowed to wear them on Fridays (or Thursdays). Our dress code is comfortable/professional. I am normally in dress pants, a nice sweater or blouse and comfy shoes. My favorite pair is my Ralph Lauren's that cost $20.00. My second favorite pair is a pair of Zena jeans.
As for me sitting around in pajamas all day - what of it? There are several people that are regular posters on here that are home-bound for one reason or another. The computer and television are entertainment for them and if I was home, you can bet I would also be comfortable. My television viewing habits consist of channel surfing the shopping channels because I love to shop. I also watch all of the news channels. I think watching all of them gives a more balanced view. I also enjoy the other 400 to 500 channels that are out there, especially the Biography channel, the Discovery channels and TLC. I also find time to read at least one book (I prefer biographies) every two weeks.
I am very sorry if you think I am rude, etc. Like I've said before, this is still a free country and I would never think that I, you, or anyone else did not have a valuable opinion. That is what this bulletin board is all about. Trevor still allows the trolls to post here freely.
I have never speculated on Lisa's love life or any aspect of her life or any host's for that matter. Your original post sounded as if you had personal knowledge of such things. I only post about what I see and hear personally as many of us do. My opinion is just that - an opinion - and it really doesn't mean a damn thing when you get right down to it. Your 'digs' to me about being over fifty and wearing pajamas all of the time...just your opinion, right?

Suzanne, it is sad that some people feel that the folks on the shopping channels are sort of like family, or at the very least, company.
Working for an ambulance service, I do know how the hosts feel sometimes. We have a good many elderly and/or infirm people who are practically housebound. It used to amaze me when they would call to ask some of the things they did. I quickly realized that it wasn't so much about finding those things out, it was more about human contact, even over the phone.
I think that just the fact that you recognized that they are lonely, rather than make fun of them, says you're an OK kinda person! You probably have more patience than you realize, too. :)

Dear BR, point well taken, but if you re-examine the barbs, you'll notice that kellibelli didn't initiate this exchange. To reiterate, I like Puddy. I eagerly anticipate Puddy's participation and appreciate her acerbic wit, but this forum is, after all, one of equal standing.
Bottom line: I can empathize with kellibelli; it did seem as though Puddy (perhaps unintentionally) was admonishing her. JMHO.

" ... As for "worshippy"....um...how many hours a day do you spend on this web site?? It seems a bit "obsessivey" to me...(if we are going to toss around made-up adjectives and all ....."
The above quote from Kellibelli sounds like an attack on Puddy to me. Maybe it's just me but if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck ...
Register already! Easy way to lose the "troll" label! :-)

What I don't like, and find cowardly, is when a "guest" poster attacks a poster who is registered. The registered poster is standing by their opinions, and you can respond to that poster at any time. The "guests", unless it is someone like Illinois, who uses the same name all the time, just slip in and attack, then back out again. They may even post under 5 different names in a day. If you truly believe what you are saying, why not have the courage to post under one name? I will give kellibelli that, guest name or not, it is one name. It isn't for me to decide who is or isn't a troll. But, at your suggestion, I did go back and reread those posts, Awww/Touche', and I don't see it quite the same way you do. I just respect your right to say it. Even as a "guest". ;)

Novalee,
Thank you, btw, for your previous comment.... But, guess what, I finally registered. I got my son on the bus for Kindergarten, and was going to take my daughters to Jewel, but my almost 2 year old baby fell asleep; I still had the computer on, so I finally thought, I'll register.....
Not looking for a welcome, but I'm a tad excited.
Can I ask, though, how you got your cute picture by your name? Do I have to copy a picuture on my computer first and then go into edit your profile picture or avatar?
Thanks in advance.
I'll have to play around a little with all the options I have now that I'm a member......hahahahaha

I basically stopped watching regularly when Lisa R. was doing the Morning Show with Dan Hughes. It started getting on my nerves that she constantly used the word "all"...silly, isn't it. I began to tune in, see her and try to guess how long before she would say "all". Even today as I am surfing the channels, when I see her, I stop a minute to see if she has stopped using it, but no, usually it happens in less than a minute!
Welcome Illinois to being a registered member!!
What bugs me on this BB is the same IP# but multiple user names. Is that for all the personalities you have??

Dear Bee,
To quote David Niven, "I shall continue to yell "tripe" whenever tripe is served!"
Your analogy rolls off me, well . . . like water off a duck's back. For example, if I were to instruct you, "Put down your Louis Vuitton for a minute and pay attention!" would you feel respected?
Please consider Puddy's condescending tone which catapulted this downward spiral:
1. Kelli - Please don't shout. It detracts from your otherwise intelligent post.
2. Also, there is an invention called a 'jeweler' and anyone could pay to have one attached to any bracelet - real or fake.
3. Also, since when is the HOST the star of the show?
My devotion to Puddy aside, I don't believe there is a woman alive who wouldn't take umbrage at those insensitive remarks. (Unless, of course, she's my monster-in-law!)

Ok, everyone! This is it! I did not call Kellibelli a troll. I referenced that fact because ANYONE can use this bulletin board - registered and unregistered posters - and my description of a troll is correct. Gee, was someone offended by me sharing some information? As for the TONE of my post - since you cannot HEAR my words on the screen, how can you posssibly interpret the meaning behind them?
Touche - Very clever screen name, btw. Ad the TONE of your post? Hmmmm, let's all think about that for a moment...what on earth could you be referring to?
To all of the other ladies (and few men) on here, Thanks a million and God Bless.
As I've said before #1 - it's STILL a free country and #2 - what any of us do on this bulletin board is really not earth shattering, right?

Illinois, I recognized you on another post, and welcomed you! This is really exciting!
Regarding the avatar, first find whatever you want to use, and DL it onto your computer. Then go to: UserCP>Edit Avatar>Browse. When you find the file on your computer, that's what you select and it will automatically put it in for you. It just has to be either 100 x 100 pixels, or a 10.0 KB file, whichever is smaller.
If you get confused, you can send me a message and I will do whatever I can to help you!

There was a poster on here named 'astute' and she left because of some (only one or two) posters. She always had something informative to say and was funny and very observant. She was a former human resources executive, if I remember correctly. Does anyone remember her?

Dear Puddy,
I agree, you never called kelli a troll; another poster did. I also know exactly how it feels to have your "tone" misinterpreted, and it ain't akin to "warm fuzzies, lemme tell ya! So, I sincerely apologize if I misjudged you.
My heart went out to kelli. I do feel she was unfairly maligned, but that's just my harmless, non-earth-shattering opinion. And it's free.

Puddy, it's a shame when one or two posters giving someone a hard time make them decide to leave. It's frightening to me that someone at their computer can read posts from another person and develop some obsessive "hatred" when they don't even know that person. It makes me feel sorry for the people around that obsessive person real time.

Thank you so much Novalee, BR, Puddy and Shellie...To finally get back to the topic of this thread....(it's about time, illinois) what really bugs me is lately, Jane Treacy....I just hope she does not take anyone's job away now that she is back....or chance for SPAMSPAMSPAMSPAMSPAMSPAMSPAMSPAMSPAM.....
And, I am sorry there are hurt feelings on this thread as well.... Most posters are nice.... This site is for gossipy fun....and sharing tips. But there is a difference between fun and meanness.
But, I am sure someday I'll put my foot in my mouth too or be misunderstood.
Don't let anyone bother you or hurt your feelings -- it's not worth it....

I just had to bump this thread. Read my post (#24) about Lisa's new 'uniform'. She is wearing it AGAIN this evening. Our fashionista must have her SUV in a deep rut.

Some of the men fingernails........ Dan Wheeler, Dave James, and Rick to be exact. Are there double standards there? Please get a manicure yikes....
The female host saying, "so and so is wearing a 1x and the models gut and thighs are bigger than mine" You know she isn't wearing a 1x.
Watching poor Maria put on the Genie serum and them put a notecard ion the side with the wrinkes. She always has a look like I don't to do this. Enough Already........
Susan Graver talking over EVERYONE and trying to be a model........
The list could go and on...............................

People like Jane - she made the comment recently on a jewelry show that she has to buy '2' of everything as her daughter is into her jewelry. How old is that kid? 6 , 8? Jane has a prob if she is allowing her kid to wear jewelry worth hundreds of dollars. Has she not heard of Target, Kmart, WallyWorld or even Claire's Boutique???

I enjoy most of the QVC hosts, especially Dan Wheeler, Mary Beth, David and Lisa M. The only reason I watch Lisa Robertson is because I think it's so funny the way she looks at herself in the studio monitor -- constantly -- instead of into the TV camera lens. She seems to get real nervous every time she glances at the camera and then quickly reverts back to the monitor. I don't get it. She's been on TV long enough to feel at ease before the camera (and 87 million people). Mary Beth should give her a few lessons in composure.

Who authorized JRT to return? Maybe since the Lord of the Rings movies are complete--she realized she couldn't be a movie extra. Although she would have made a great Oompa Loompa in the new Charlie and the Chocolate Factory movie. She really irks me--yesterday on that crappy sale day she was really pimping this chennile sweater and had to (as always) talk about how much her kids LOVE it when she wears her chennile robe--not an image I needed in my head.
