I know I am not the only person that does this: I have a quote book that my bestfriend started for my in 6th grade and I still have and add to it today. I had an inordinate amount of free time (not good for me and my wandering mind) today and was wondering what some of your faves are. I know y'all have great ones because of some of your signature lines are amazing or just down right funny!

Life is mostly froth and bubble;
Two things stand like stone:
Kindness in another's trouble,
Courage in our own.~

Hi HHIgirl: I save quotes too; filed on the puter' as a matter of fact. Some of my favs:

The honorary duty of a human being is to love.
Maya Angelou

"Difficult as it is really to listen to someone in affliction, it is just as difficult for him to know that compassion is listening to him."
-Simone Weil, Waiting for God

"I still find each day too short for all the thoughts I want to think, all the walks I want to take, all the books I want to read, and all the friends I want to see."
-John Burroughs

Sorry if this is long but I think you may enjoy the following:

THE SECOND TEN COMMANDMENTS
Author unknown
Submitted by Judy in Canada

You shall not worry, for worry is the most unproductive of all human activities.

You shall not be fearful, for most of the things we fear never come to pass.

You shall not cross bridges before you come to them, for no one yet has succeeded in accomplishing this.

You shall face each problem as it comes. You can only handle one at a time anyway.

You shall not take problems to bed with you, for they make very poor bedfellows.

You shall not borrow other people's problems. They can better care for them than you can.

You shall not try to relive yesterday for good or ill; it is forever gone. Concentrate on what is happening in your life and be happy now.

You shall be a good listener, for only when you listen do you hear ideas different from your own. It is hard to learn something new when you are talking, and some people do know more than you do.

You shall not become "bogged down" by frustration, for 90% of it is rooted in self-pity and will only interfere with positive action.

You shall count your blessings, never overlooking the small ones, for a lot of small blessings add up to a big one.

Amy, that was a really nice post, thank you. :)

HHI, good thread, thank you. :)

Some of my favorites:

"Keep away from people who try to belittle your ambitions. Small people always do that, but the really great make you feel that you, too, can become great." ~ Mark Twain

"It's never too late to be who you might have become." ~ George Eliot

"Character is doing what's right when nobody's looking." ~ J.C. Watts, Jr.

"I'll believe it, when I believe it." ~ Yogi Berra (could fill a post with his...LOL)

Barbi, I have loved him from the time I was a little girl, and I still do. That man is a gem, and his quotes never fail to make me laugh! Even his AFLAC commercial was a hoot!

Ok..bear with me for a moment because I am going to fumble what I am trying to get out of my brain.

I was praying for guidance and strength. SO I started to look through my quote book and was wondering what my wise friends on the BB had stored up in their minds and what life has brought them, etc. It then occurred to me that God did actually answer my prayer for strength by the responses, time and care everyone put into this.

So thank you all for answering my prayers from yesterday. Funny how those things just drop in your lap and you don't even realize it!

By the way. I think Yogi Berra must have been one of God's special angels.

HHIgirl: Your Welcome.
Here's another quote...
We are each of us angels with only one wing, to fly we need only embrace each other."
Have a good evening.

I came across another Winston Churchill gem today that I thought was worth sharing:

Sparks and Puddy, I like your two especially.

Barbi, I have second thoughts about yours. I think it's better to vent than to take action. I think I just made up my own! LOL Actions cause wars.

Saw this one in "Hitch" (Will Smith movie) over the weekend ...

I loved it!
