Ok, for my 100th post (I am somehow proud and embarrassed at the same time!), I wanted to start a new thread.

With Memorial Day weekend approaching, everyone is planning barbecues with family and friends. Just imagine if the people on this board ever decided to get together for such a party. Let's say its at HHIGirl's house... is your backyard big enough to have this make believe bbq?? lol

Anyway, what would it be like? Who would be the life of the party? Who would bring what dishes? Who might be argueing? Who would hit it off??

Get creative with your answers. And if you think this thread is cheesy, that's fine too! haha

Congrats on your 100th!!!! (love your avatar too......)

Since I am newer, I would be the new friend someone else would bring to HHI's house.... So, I would just bring a dish - (maybe cookie bars and an appetizer) and get to know everyone, since I'm a little shy at first; but wait till you 200th posting......

Congrats again.... I think this is a great idea for a thread for your 100th.

Hey, General, congratulations on your 100th post!

No, this thread isn't cheesy.

Illinois, I'm a bit of a newbie, too, so I might hang back a bit until I hear a group of gals, (probably BR, Shellie, Nova, and others <you know who you are>) talking about makeup. That would be my cue to get in on that conversation. Once I warm up, I'm good to go. Especially after a drink. Who knows, Illinois, we might start talking about our kids (they sound somewhat close in age).

I'm sure HHIgirl would have a bigscreen TV hooked up in the yard with QVC on. There would be some phones, so people could call and order. Who knows, somebody, (probably the pudster after a few cocktails) might call in to talk on the air and in the process air all her grievances (ooooo, that'd be fun to listen to!).

I'm sure one of the guests would bring the TSV from last week, you know the one with all the barbeque meats in it. We'd all be using those party plate holder thingys they sell on the Q.

All in all, I'm sure it would be one hell of a shindig!

If this is an imaginary backyard BBQ my backyard is now big enough! Complete with inground pool, 50 person Jacuzzi, full bar, waitstaff, butlers, footmen and Plasma TV. There will be no "what a chair", crazy pop up tent rooms, bubble machines, mist maker fountains, etc.

If it during a Sunday the TV will be tuned into NASCAR and Baseball. Q checks during commercial breaks are permissable. However NOT during cautions.

Food would be prepared by..Hell..Who am I kidding. You can order whatever and from where ever you please. I am not a "foodie" so the experts here can take over.

I will be sending everyone home with a goodie bag of make up! For the men, I will pilfer my brother-in-law DVD's questionable DVD collection. It is kind of Farrah heavy.

All the newbies will be warmly welcomed. Well behaved pets and children will be allowed. No licking will be done be either. Puddy, Cubs...never mind! LOL

Congrats on your 100th post General!

HHIgirl, I LIKE your backyard!!!! AussieMrs., I could envision us chatting a lot about our kids. They are close in age my son is 6 1/2, my daughters are 3 1/2 and almost 2. And, from some posts I've read, I could see Puddy and Cubsfan snuggled in a corner somewhere.

What a fun thread.

Hi Illinois.....Puddy and Cubsfan better be snuggled up in a corner somewhere.
We expect that, haha. Otherwise, they just teased and teased and teased.......

Oh wait. This backyard of mine is not in Ohio. It is in either Savannah, Ga or Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. Overlooking water. No Valerie Parr Hill or Claire whatshername decor either. And NOTHING by Lori Grenier. Nothing but the best, Dixie cups! Just kidding!

Shellie

Hi Missy........I LOVED your post for the BBQ, too cute. Ok now, I will pick you and Illinois up on the way to Jenna's house. I have plenty of room in my SUV. Nova just called, she needs a ride too. BR said she might need a ride, but she will let me know for sure. She said she might ride with the "General". And, I am pretty sure Cubby will 'pick up' Pudster.

OH.......and I would LOVE it, if "Ghost" appeared at the BBQ. What a treat that would be. We sure miss him. He just does not "show up" around here....as often as we would like him too!

Also, the entertainment of the night.....would be provided by Puddy, of course, and her "sidekick" Cubby. Along with all the "other" well known comedians on this here board.

Oh........and Nova and I would love to have Bo Bice come to the BBQ, just to hear him sing "Sweet Home Alabama"! "That's Hot"!

Take Care!

{{{{{General}}}}}}} Congrats! This is such a cool idea!!

Illinois and Missy, I would be proud to have you come with me in my car to the BBQ. We could chat on the way!

Jen, loving the sound of the backyard and all the goodies! I would also like to see Leslie, Stacie, Doris, Christina, etc. each set up in a little area handing out free samples!

I would bring some Memphis style ribs and chicken, plus some side dishes and a few of my grandma's dessert recipes. I think maybe red velvet and chocolate coca cola cakes.

General, you sure know how to make a girl smile on a Friday morning! Thank you!

I say the more the merrier, so it doesn't matter to me who drives, just so we all get there! It would be more fun if we went together!

Bo is a given, for sure! But he'll have to change the words to "Sweet Home Mississippi", which is how I sing it....LOL

Missy, I think the samples would be to die for!

First of all, Shellie thanks for the offer to pick me up, but I will be going with the GENERAL™. We will bring some New York Junior Cheesecakes!!

Once we get there, I know its HHI's house but I will be greeting everyone with a wave and blowing kisses as they walk through the door. HHI will be handing out little "lippies" as party favors.

QVC Dude will be in charge of all the music but if he, Jules, Cubsfan and Puddy disappear, Tragichip will take over the music.

Ghost will be there but floating around.

CatLady and Bichonlady will talk about but what else.....cats and dogs!!

Barbi and Carlinka will be giving their opinions about the QVC Hosts.

Jon Bonem and Jack Butler will be discussing movie quotes from Tommy and lyrics of the Who while they stand guard not to let dep214 and other trolls in.

Now all my little Beauties, Novalee, Shellie, Ruffles, Sparkes, AussieMrs, Illinois, and all my other makeup friends will be discussing BE Kits, Fran Wilson LipCremes and Philosophy products.

I can't wait to see everyone and meet the celebrity guests. HHI, your backyard will be perfect ;)

Ok, I have decided to bring some Texas BBQ and Stuffed Jalapenos for an appetizer. Also, I just found out that Trevor Rieger WILL make a "guest" appearance. I told him that everyone would love to meet "our very special soldier". Btw, that damn Nick keeps calling me about this BBQ, I have no idea how he found out about it, let alone, how the HELL he got my number. Anyway, he is BEGGING to come to this party. He says, I would love to "flock" all of you gals before, during and after the party! Not to worry, I told him no thank you, we can flock our ownself, besides, we have ALL seen how he "flocks".

Hey, can I come too...since I'm in Texas like Shellie...maybe I could pick her up and bring some extra BBQ and maybe some spicy TexMex. How about some fajitas, salsa, nachos, mesquite-grilled corn-on-the-cob, Texas Caviar (Black-eyed peas with onions, jalapenos, and seasonings), homemade tamales and for dessert...hmmm...let's see.....let's make funnel cakes. To wash it all down...iced tea, ice-cold beer or margaritas. Man when is this BBQ again. I better get busy cooking.

This was one of those times when the music was supposed to be the only important thing. Being an ad-hoc trio, we didn't have to live up to anything other than our musical ability - "just play," in other words. No worries about reputations, making a good impression on talent scouts / promoters / booking agents, promoting an album, etc. Just 3 guys making a bit of music to entertain the masses.

And since I was reluctantly roped into this scheme, I insisted on the right to coin our name for the duration, saying to my partners in crime "You owe me, for getting me into this mess in the first place - payback's a b*tch!!" Knowing me well enough they agreed, and I handed the MC a slip of paper as we took our positions on the stage for our first set.
"Ladies and gentlemen, let's give a warm welcome to 'You, Me, & Him!' "

Polite applause - which set us off, big-time. We came on immediately after the Beatles tribute band "BeatleMania," and we couldn't resist starting off with an unlikely medley of "Daytripper," "Magical Mystery Tour," and "Yellow Submarine." Everyone seemed to get a kick out of the vocal "mess" we made (John Lennon I ain't), including the Beatlemaniacs themselves. Then again, we were playing the music just the way any "power trio" I'm working in is supposed to play (heavy, like Zeppelin or Hendrix), so complex harmonies on top of a heavy melody is bound to attract some attention - especially when "John Lennon" sounds more like a drunken Bob Dylan.

Since all three of us come from what can be called "classic rock" backgrounds, we took advantage of our situation to have a lot of sneering rub-your-nose-in-it fun with the music: "Thank you very much, we're gonna be doing all the moldy oldies tonight.......You probably wouldn't know the difference...... This next one's off our latest CD called "I Beg Your Fucking Pardon?" and it goes like this......." Johnny B Goode followed (in honor of our "homie" who originally wrote it, of course). My first "shot" came two songs before the end of our first set. My bass player made the fatal mistake of stroking the crowd: "Thank you all so much!! Your applause is like food and drink to us!" Whereupon I immediately added "Yeah - thanks for the bread and water!" I then started the POUNDING intro to Mountain's "Mississippi Queen" - which promptly shut up the jerk who had been screaming "More COWBELL" after every song........... (Moral: try to yank my chain, and you're liable get it right back in your face, with INTEREST!) The applause was NOT polite when we walked off (a polite roar?) - which pissed off Dickey Betts and Co. who went on next; they weren't too thrilled about facing an already hot crowd that THEY hadn't hyped up themselves!

The first break was our opportunity to lay into the BBQ and draft beer that was a free part of our deal. By the time Mr. Betts had finished, we were ready to crank it up a notch. "Once again, let's hear it for 'You Me & Him!' " This time we opened with a one-two nod to fellow Midwesterners REO Speedwagon (a supercharged "Riding the Storm Out"), and Saturday's headline act, Head East (a thrash-and-crash reprise of "There's Never Been Any Reason" aka "Save My Life I'm Going Down For the Last Time"). After which came my second shot: "That's for all of you who want something more than a little Dickey!" (Stop laughing - my purposely delayed "Betts" got lost in the amusing trill of a few thousand "overheated" females). Damned if the boys didn't charge straight into Aerosmith's "Walk This Way" right after my editorial comment - they had finally landed on the same "wavelength" with me. By the time we brought Zep's "Whole Lotta Love" (and our shorter second set) to a close after "only" a 10 minute re-working, we were almost ready to go out in style. Cowboy Mouth were none too happy having to do their "twang thang" after our shorter (but more intense) second carpet-bombing.

Big Head Todd and the Monsters, having seen what we did to the others, convinced the powers-that-be to drop the boom on us. So while we were hitting the beef and suds again, we had several sweating people with clipboards telling us to "mind your manners," "don't make the other acts look bad," "no long solos," and just about every other thing guaranteed to piss all of us off. Finally, my guitar player got up and said "Look, we're not a buch of first-timers here, Dude! The three of us have more experience than you can shake a stick at! Don't try to take it out on us because you've booked a few acts that can't cut the mustard! We're doing you a FAVOR, remember!" Exit flustered nitwits, enter The Band From Hell.........

"Ladies and gentlemen, once more, 'You, Me, & Him!' " Since we had done 2 sets already, word had gotten around, obviously - we were met with a DECENT hand as we walked out on stage, which kept on as our guitarist played a 7 minute solo based on "House of the Rising Sun," with myself and the bassist joining him for a further 3-1/2 minutes of biting instrumental flash. Then after a rather long crowd ovation, my final bit of stage banter: "Title that last one 'I Love You So Much I Could Shit in My Pants!' " Nothing else to do but crash into Zep's "Rock and Roll" which got the crowd UP, to put it mildly. From there, we went straight into Rush's "2112 Overture/Temple of Syrinx" - complete with my traditional roar immediately following "and the meek shall inherit the earth..........." "BULLSHIT!!!" After a quick "Susie Q," and another nod to Uncle Chuck (Berry) with "Sweet Little Sixteen" (the melody of which being better known as The Beach Boy's "Surfing USA"), I was "victimized!" My guitar player thought I wasn't hyped up enough, so he introduced the next song: "This next one's dedicated to that girl who told our drummer she will always love him..." He then quickly had to duck as a drumstick came flying towards him as he started the riff to The Who's "Substitute" (yeah - like I'd really forget them?). The tag-out of "Substitute" quickly morphed into the thundering Indian war-drum intro to Hendrix's "I don't Live Today," allowing me the last word on both the instrumental battle, and the gig itself (as well as the underlying current of my guitarist's "girlfriend" joke).

Postscript: Unlike all the other acts who played this weekend, we didn't stick around long after the last set - all three of us had to be at WORK by midnight!!! Just got home, as a matter of fact; such is the "glamorous" life of us "have gig, will play" type musicians.........

Happy Memorial Day, All!!!

BR™:

The GENERAL™ will have set up a mini golf course where we will play competive games such as closest to the pin and furthest putt. Losers will have to repeat after the GENERAL™, "Lisa R's lipsticked outlined lips are the best".

Now all my little Beauties, Novalee, Shellie, Ruffles, Sparkes, AussieMrs, Illinois, and all my other makeup friends will be discussing BE Kits, Fran Wilson LipCremes and Philosophy products.

hahahaha

A great time will be had by all!!!!

BTW, nice post GENERAL™!! I love, love, love it!!!

Where did everybody go? Hello...Hello....Hello....? Well, it looks like the party is over. :( But, it was sure great to "see" everyone and I had the best time!

General, thanks again for getting this party started! :)
HHI, thanks for letting us use your home! BTW, that was some set-up you had going on there, girl.

BR, you did a great job making sure everyone had plenty to eat and drink, maybe a little too good! Somehow, you were still able to find the time to blow your "famous" kisses and EVEN check all the "packages" at the door. Talk about multi-tasking! That's "my" girl!

BTW, you'll know that saying..."what happens in SPAMSPAMSPAMSPAMSPAM, stays in SPAMSPAMSPAMSPAMSPAM"? Um.....Um....could we apply that to Cleveland , too? You know, like, "what happens in cleveland, stays in cleveland"? I was in Cleveland....yes?
I mean, I'm just saying....Shellie MIGHT have made a fool of herself! I had you'll fooled, huh. Bet you'll thought this "Texas" gal could only two-step. Boy did I proove you wrong or what. When "our" Bo took the stage..............
Shellie had to "Walk this Way"! I know, I know.....but I couldn't help myself!
"Love It"!
