Hot Picks

Has anyone else noticed how many hot picks are former TSVs? No wonder they are hot picks. QVC is now selling them at a higher price than the TSV price, and therefore making more money on them. If you haven't noticed that - keep watching. It's something I've observed. Better deals are the summer surprises in my opinion.

I think you are right about that, Hershey. I also think that when they have a TSV that does not sell out, they bring it back to the regular inventory WAY too fast. Like we don't remember the product and won't notice the repeat!

They are trying to tempt us with the easy pays and free shipping. If we didn't buy the item when it was a TSV, why would we buy now?

I've been noticing that about a lot of the hot picks, but decided to post today after seeing the citiknits one on AM Style - the one with the poncho top that was a TSV. I didn't like it then and I didn't like it this morning at the higher price.
Puddy, sometimes they even bring the didn't-sell-out TSV back the same weekend!! I remember that happened with a Joan Rivers faux croco strap (very wide strap) watch in bright colors. It was a TSV on a Friday I think and was on the air at a higher price that Sunday. I suppose some people don't watch QVC all the time (can you imagine?) and wouldn't have noticed it was a TSV once at a lower price. If that's the case, then usually some caller calls in with a testimonial and mentions buying it when it was a TSV. I always wonder then if people immediately cancel their orders, because they ordered at the higher price and didn't know it was a TSV until the caller mentioned it! LOL
Edited to add: I do like the summer surprises better- at least a lot of them have been new merchandise. Also to clarify - I didn't mean to say that all the hot picks are former TSVs, but a lot of them are.

I also think the FIVE easy payments is a real testimony on how business is at QVC. It can't be all that great. An easy pay of $7.42!!! (Just an example) I think they want people to buy stuff on easy pay so they will forget how much they REALLY spent. It still adds up and shoppers are too savvy to fall for such a lame ploy.

I have to agree. I totally agree that the Summer Surprises are better when they lower the price (easy pay doesn't do squat for me) or give free S&H (you know how I loathe the S&H). I got the Summer Surprise Bare Escentuals Body Glimmer the other day, probably only because it was cheaper than normal (I did like it though). I checked Ebay first to make sure I couldn't get it cheaper. You guys probably think I'm such a cheapsake, but I really just love a great deal. :)

As for checking Ebay first, it's smart to shop around.

Hershey, as soon as Lisa announced it, I was on Ebay to check it out, and then right back to QVC.com. I was pretty happy I got it, (and at a better price than Ebay!) because I checked later on and it was sold out. Gotta love some of those Summer Surprises!

There is NOTHING wrong with looking for a good deal. That does not mean you are a cheapskate - it means you are a savvy shopper.

I just realized I typed cheapSAKE instead of cheapSKATE. I knew something looked weird about it, but I guess the brain wasn't functioning properly (it was close to bedtime ya know!)

Typical - the QVC hot pick coming up at 10:00 a.m. is a Quacker Factory TSV from January. Some "hot pick" - a TSV at a higher price.

Hot picks are things that they are trying to really really push on us!
Some people fall prey to it, and others don't. Guess it's to each his own!
