Hey Cubby, this is a great idea for a thread. Since we talk about WWE on the QVC board so much, it's nice to have an "official" place to talk about it. :) Did you see Bam Margera from Viva La Bam in the crowd on Raw last night? It was when Matt Hardy was leaving through the crowd. Bam lives in West Chester (home of QVC), not too far from Philly. I'm also surprised no ECW guys showed up. I think One Night Stand was pretty much the end of the ECW storyline, at least for a while. So what do you think about the Matt Hardy storyline? I've been a huge Matt Hardy mark, ever since the days of "Mattitude", and I think his new "gimmick" (if you wanna call it that) is brilliant. The announcers don't even mention his name or say anything about him attacking Edge, which makes it seem real. If it was real, though, there's no way in hell he would have been able to do that two weeks in a row! Eventually, they'll have to start acknowledging him. I think a good twist would be to have a surprise person who bails Matt out of jail whenever he attacks Edge. Maybe his brother Jeff Hardy. I doubt Jeff will ever be back though. He's too messed up on drugs. So, Hulk Hogan accepted Shawn Michaels' challenge last night, not that it was a surprise. Exactly how many times did Hogan say "brother" and "dude" anyway? I don't drink, but if I did, I would play a drinking game where every time he says brother or dude, I would take a drink! I would probably be wasted at the end of the interview! And Simona was eliminated from the diva search, which sucks. I don't think any of these girls are as hot as last year's contestants, like Christy, Maria, Joy, Amy, Michelle, etc. etc...And Cena beat Snitsky. No surprise there either. I wonder if they'll take Snitsky's "foot fetish" gimmick any further. Could be interesting.

Isn't it ironic that JBL mentioned the word "German" during his lame-ass "victory" speech on SD last night, considering he almost got fired by the WWE last year for goosestepping and doing the Hitler salute in Germany (Where it is outlawed). That sucks about Hassan. He was really starting to get good as a character (except for the terrorist thing).

Former WWF commentator Lord Alfred Hayes passed away on Wednesday. He was a popular commentator in the 1980's. I remember a one-time pay-per-view in 1985 called the Wrestling Classic. It was held at the Rosemont Horizon (now Allstate Arena). There was a 8-man single elimination tournament that Junkyard Dog won over Randy Savage. Hogan defended the title against Piper. And they gave away a Rolls Royce (yes, it's true). Lord Alfred was in charge of drawing the winner and for some reason, the fans booed him almost out of the building. --- "Shine my shoes" -Frank Vincent (Goodfellas)

They are starting to go now Gorilla Monsoon, Lord Alfred Hayes one of these days Bobby Heenan will be gone too. I'm just glad Vince took himself off the broadcasts. I was never a big fan of him as an announcer.

They will probably just give Hassan a new persona.

I keep forgetting about Josh Matthews even though he was small he had plenty of heart when he was on Tough Enough.

I remember GLOW too; I never missed an episode. It was on Ch. 11 in New York every Saturday at Noon. Tina's tag team partner was a buxom redhead named Ashley Cartier; you can say they were the original T & A way before Test and Albert. GLOW also had The Farmer's Daughter, a Russian villaness named Colonel Nunitzka, Mt. Fiji who was the Yokozuna of GLOW, a bad girl tag team named Hollywood & Vine and the announcer was a Vince McMahon wanna be named David McClain. In between the matches, they would do some funny skits; especially a segment called Dear Ashley where she would read a letter before ending up in disgust because the contents of the letter were risque. Also, There was a Roller Derby-type show called Rollergames whiched also aired on the same station that GLOW aired. It was like Roller Derby but they added death defying jumps and the managers of the villian teams were totally Bobby Heenan-like. They had a villian manager named Skull who was bald but never shaved his long beard; he wore a denim biker shirt that had patches including POW-MIA You are not forgotten. The sideline reporter was Shelly Jamison, a former Phoenix tv reporter who posed for Playboy, was she ever hot. They even had "halftime" performers like Blondie and Young MC ("Bust A Move"). Mo "The Dumpster" Hassan; or Damien Hassan from the outer reaches of your mind; Waylon Hassan from the swamps (Waylon Mercy) or make him a country singer: That's M-U-H-A-M-M-A-D H-A-S-S-A-N and Daivari can be his Road Dogg. Or how about he's a slacker dude named Bud Murphy; he can do an interview segment called "The Latte Shop". Or he can be an reincarnation of the Goon (the Tough Hockey Player right out of Slapshot). Also on Raw last night; Kurt Angle had another challenge and Eugene came out and defeated him by countout and took his Olympic gold medal. Eugene came out wearing a Browns jersey and Kurt Angle being from Pittsburgh ripped the jersey off of him and wiped his nose with it. Viscera and a little guy wrestled the Heart Throbs and another little guy; Viscera's team won. I wish Raw would get rid of Eric Jerkoff; his dictorial bullshit is wearing thin. I wish Vince would fire him after Summerslam and replace him w/ Roddy Piper. Piper would make a great Raw GM; Plus Coach's pining for Jerkoff is sickening; we're talking about another case of the black man kissing the white man's ass; In Coach's case, I betcha he's licking Jerkoff's ass nonstop. Why don't Coach and Jerkoff go off to Vermont, get married and then live in Greenwich Village. I just watched the Bash; it was pretty good. 1. Heidenreich/Animal d. Nitro/Mercury to win the tag belts; 2. Booker T d. Christian in a good match. 3. Orlando Boredom retains US title over Benoit. 4. Undertaker d. Hassan; then proceeds to beat the shit out of Hassan 12 ways to November. 5. Mexicools d. BWO; Only good moment was when BWO came out riding Big Wheels; that brings me back. 6. Rey Misterio d. Eddie Guerrero to make sure the secret stays a secret; during the match Tazz called Eddie an "asshole" (not to his face and it wasn't bleeped out). 7. Melina d. Torrie Wilson and then after the match Torrie and guest ref Candice Michelle doubled teamed to strip Melina to her bra and panties. 8. JBL d. Batista via DQ when the ref saw Batista hit JBL with the chair. Batista keeps World title, of course. --- "I don't get mad. I get stabby" -Fat Tony (Simpsons)

I remember the injury to Susie Spirit; it was similar to what Lawrence Taylor did to Joe Theismann on Monday Night Football in 1985. Also they had a hot dog eating contest on Raw w/ all the divas and Leyla (my favorite) won and she gets immunity, also Shelton Benjamin had a 2-on-1 match w/ Snitsky and Chris Masters; Snitsky and Masters beat up poor Shelton until Big Show arrived to clean house. Maria did an interview w/ Y2J and when she mentioned Fozzy; she thought it was Fozzy the bear and wondered if the other Muppets were coming. Funny shit. In Canada, they went to a commercial when Lita got beat up by Kane; according to 1wrestling.com. They pay high taxes, get free medical care, it snows 10 months of the year in most parts of that country, they celebrate Thanksgiving on the 2nd Monday in October, their pro football has a 55-yard line and only 3 downs, and yet they censor like most of the stuff that we take for granted in the USA. Newsflash to Canada: It's 2005, not 1888. You ever see the Micheal Moore movie "Canadian Bacon"? It's about an unpopular US president (Alan Alda) who plans to take his country's mind off its troubles by invading Canada. It features Rhea Perlman, Kevin Pollak, Bill Nunn and the late John Candy, playing a Niagra Falls, NY (USA) sheriff and when he's at a hockey game in Canada; he's taking a sip of Canadian beer and he says "it sucks" causing a riot at the hockey arena; funny thing is Candy was from Toronto, Ontario, Canada. ---- "We now pause for station identification; this is N-U-T-S" -Curly Howard (3 Stooges)

I remember Owen Hart's death like it was yesterday; I even remember Jerry Lawler leaving the broadcasting booth to check up on him and he was somberly saying "It doesn't look good". I used to hate Lawler but around the time of Owen's death being a concerned person, the time he talked about PUPPIES and then he ended 1999 by being in "Man On The Moon" which by the way is one great movie. I saw it 3x when it first came out and I even spent New Year's Eve afternoon seeing it and I remember it was Y2K and I said to myself, if the world ends at 12:00 am, at least I had a helluva time beforehand. It was so shocking to see Tatanka on Raw during the Eugene Invitational, who's next? The Goon? Duke "The Dumpster" Droese? Outback Jack? Damien Dimento from the Outer Reaches of Your Mind? Papa Shango? Virgil? --- "We leave at dawn .... Noonish" -John Candy (Wagons East)

I was shocked by Tatanka too. That was quite a blast from my past. I really enjoyed Raw for the first time in a long time last Monday. I loved Matt Hardy's "official" comeback, and how he said he hopes Edge is killed in a car crash. That made it seem more real, because they don't usually say things like that. I loved HBK's parody of Hulk Hogan. I haven't laughed that hard at the WWE in a LONG time! It reminded me of the good old days of DX. That's something he would have done then. I even liked Rob Schneider's appearance, even though it was only to promote his latest piece of crap movie. Who thought it would be a good idea to make a Deuce Bigelow sequel? I'm not too sure about Rob Conway's new gimmick. He looks like a gay leather man and his theme song sounds like a bad lounge song. Did you hear the crowd chanting "This Match Sucks" during his match with Val Venis? I've never heard that chant before. Main event was pretty good too. All in all, a great show that reminded me of why I love the WWE!

Smackdown needs some work. Batista is a good wrestler but his mic skills are uneven. JBL is getting boring. OK you consider yourself a "Wrestling God" yeah yeah yeah. Orlando Jordan no personality. Randy Orton needs to be included more than calling out the Undertaker. This Eddie Guerrero/Rey Mysterio storyline is starting to get out of hand.

Newsflash: Bret Hart is back into WWE Fold. They're going to do a DVD on his career in the WWE. I was just on WWE.com and they did a report on why Coach being the 3rd man in the RAW broadcasting team was good. That is the biggest bunch of bullshit ever. I wish they would get rid of Coach from the table and never come back. I wish he would disappear like Jimmy Hoffa or Judge Crater. Speaking of disappear; I think its time that Val Venis would put away the towel, the "Hello, Ladies" song and get a new gimmick. I even got one picked out: Venis aka Sean Morley was training to become a helicopter pilot before he went into wrestling. He could become a helicopter or plane pilot. I even got a great ring name: Lindy Wright! A combination of Charles Lindbergh and the Wright Bros. He could wear a cool jacket, helmet and goggles and his entrance music would be "Wild Blue Yonder". --- "It's so damn hot. Milk was a bad choice" -Will Ferrell (Anchorman)

Putbeds, I laughed out loud at your gimmick for Val Venis! I agree, the porn star gimmick is SO 1998! When I read that Bret Hart was meeting with WWE officials, I was hoping it meant he'd be returning to TV, but it doesn't look like that will be happening. Not yet anyway. That would be a shocker if he did. As for the Coach, maybe I'm in the minority here, but I like having him on Raw. Having three commentators reminds me of the mid 90's when they had Vince McMahon, Randy Savage, and Bobby Heenan. The Coach is a straight-up heel, as opposed to the King, who has heelish tendencies, but is mostly there for comedy. I think the Coach balances out the King and JR pretty well.

You guys are right. Raw needs a new GM. Smackdown has had 4 since july 2002 and usually the smackdown gms are faces (except for heyman and angle) Coach has to go. Im also getting tired of his constant ass kissing. For a long time Raw was better then Smackdown, but now I think Smackdown is slightly better. the Eddie-Rey storyline has goon too far, however I think it should be the storyline of the year. I havent seen a soap operalike storyline this good since the Angle-HHH wife stealing storyline in Aug-sept 2000. Best storyline ever: Invasion (June-November 2001)

QVC Dude

I wish Stephanie McMahon would come back as GM of either show. I still think she's the hottest woman in wrestling. I like the Eddie-Rey storyline too, however I still like Raw better than Smackdown. Smackdown seems too watered-down, I think mostly because it's taped and Raw is live. And you can tell most of the time that the fans cheering on Smackdown isn't real. That's what they call "piped-in" cheers. As for the Invasion angle of 2001, I liked some parts of it, but as a whole, I think they handled it pretty poorly, wasting a lot of potential talent.

TNA puts on a good show, but is no where near the WWE. Plus, they really haven't been able to get any big stars from the WWE. And more likely what will happen is the bigger stars from TNA will go to the WWE. It is rumored that AJ Styles is going there. Plus, I'm not sure if they are making any money yet. But, it's always good to have some other competition.

I still think the WWE doesn't do enough with the talent they have. I really don't like the Mysterio/Guerrero feud. I find it boring.

McMahon seems to grab all these guys from different orginazations then let's them languish. He seems reluctant at times to give a main title shot to an outsider. But someone like his son-in-law gets unlimited chances. IMO HHH as champion is worse than when Hogan would be champion and never wrestle anyone unless it was PPV. Smackdown was pretty decent last night; The funniest thing was when Tazz mentioned Uncle Floyd before Christian's chat with Batista. Uncle Floyd used to host a "kiddie" show on Channel 68 in Newark, NJ in the 70's and 80's. It featured sketches, a thing where viewers sent pictures and they would put it on the wall in the studio (which was actually a 2-story house in New Jersey) He had a crazy puppet called Oogie and he would also feature up and coming musical acts. Bon Jovi was a frequent guest before he hit it big and the Ramones made occasional appearances. Uncle Floyd's real name is Floyd Vivino and he still performs in the Garden State to this day. The album that featured "Real American" is known as the WWF Wrestling Album; it came out in 1985 and featured Gene Okerlund singing "Tootie Frutti"; Hillbilly Jim's "Don't Go Messin' w/ a Country Boy" and Rowdy Roddy Piper "singing" the song "For Everybody" and the "Land of 1000 Dances" remake that featured all of the WWF wrestlers including the immorital line sung by Bobby Heenan "I'm gonna stretch ya from here to New Jersey". The video featured Meatloaf on drums and Cyndi Lauper in disguise. Jimmy Hart who was part of the 60's group, the Gentrys also had a song called "Eat Your Heart Out Rick Springfield". Best Summerslam ever was 1991: Bret Hart d. Curt Henning aka Mr. Perfect for the I-C title; I'll never forget Bobby Heenan's comment "Perfect will be in the showers in 10 minutes". The Big Boss Man (RIP) d. Hogan and the Ultimate Warrior teamed up to defeat Sgt. Slaughter, General Adnan, and Col. Mustafa (Iron Sheik) w/ Sid Justice as the guest ref. Summerslam was a decent show. The best match was Guerrero-Mysterio; at one point Dominick got involved and Eddie tried to smack him; Vicki (Eddie's wife) turned on him and helped Rey win. I liked the part where the divas were washing a limo and the limo had the Presidential seal and the limo window opened and it was Vince and he said "Why Not?" and the limo had a bumper sticker that said McMAHON FOR PRESIDENT!!!! RAW tonight from Tampa, Fla. Hmmm....will the Hulkster make an appearance? Maybe he can smash Kerwin White with a golf club. Between Kerwin's "Sinatra-like" entrance music and Rob Conway's "oh-so-alternative lifestyle" cabaret song, the entrance music sucks. Give me the days of Chris Warren and the DX Song "Are You Ready..." That was a great song, kinda like Rage Against the Machine. Plus here's a Hillbilly Jim update; he hosts his own radio show on Sirrus called Outlaw Country. He plays Country and Southern Rock. Little Steven (E Street Band/Sopranos) asked him to do the show. This was in Sunday's New York Daily News. Remember Uncle Elmer's Wedding on Saturday Night's Main Event in October 1985? It was taped on a Thursday Night at the Meadowlands Arena (now Continental Airlines). I ALMOST went to that show but there was something else I had to do that night: Watch the Mets-Cardinals game to decide the NL East flag. I remember when Roddy Piper spewed insults at the wedding party and there was actually a female fan dressed up as a bridesmaid sitting in the 3rd row. Also, Piper and Paul Orndorff had a memorable tussle that ended up in a double countout and they wound up fighting in the hallways. Sean Penn actually went down to New Orleans, got in a rowboat, and pulled people to safety after the hurricane. How many celebrities would do something like that? An entire four hours and five minutes of WWE programming. My night is set! :)

The three man booth skews the chemistry. With Lawler he roots for the heels and JR the faces that's all that is needed. Coach adds nothing to the broadcast IMO.

I've been noticing Lawler has been rooting for the faces a little more lately, maybe to go against The Coach, who is pure heel. I still like the three man booth. It's reminiscent of the early 90's. Why does Lawler root for the heels anyway? Whenever he gets in the ring, he's pure face. Seriously, when was the last time The King got booed?

I remember some of the crowd would wear Burger King crowns and called Lawler "Burger King".

I remember that too, but that was years ago. Now the fans worship him because he started the whole "puppy" craze! :)

Here are my predictions for Unforgiven: 1. I hate to say Angle over Cena but Kurt is on such a roll and he has Jerkoff in his back pocket. 2. Flair over Carlito WOOOO!!! I-C Gold 3. Big Show over Snitsky 4. Ashley/Trish over Torrie/Victoria 5. Cade/Murdoch over Rosie/Hurricane (Stand back, 2 fan favorites lose their tag titles and Murdoch reminds me of Larry the Cable Guy). I forgot the rest of the card, Mick Foley was on Late Night w/ Conan O' Brian talking about Wrestlemania 2000 and his new book; Caroline Rhea was on as well talking Biggest Loser and about her new boyfriend. SHIT Caroline has a new boyfriend but if yours truly wins the $250 Million Big Game tonight, sweet Caroline will dump current boyfriend like last year's milk and then some. --- "You haven't seen the real Homer; it's all burping and neglect" -Bart Simpson

I actually have something to contribute......
The Big Show and Carlito were on a local radio station here this morning. Carlito is an ASSHOLE......to high on himself. JR and someone else was on, too. They are doing some wrestle crap here in OKC on Sunday.

Jules, The WWE is having a RAW ppv called "Unforgiven" and it'll emulate from the Ford Center in OKC on Sunday Night at 8pm ET/ 7pm OKlahoma time. Yes, Carlito is a asshole. He's a combination of a Latin playboy and Sideshow Bob (check out his hair style). Good Ol' JR is Oklahoma-born, Oklahoma-bred and by golly he'll be Oklahoma-dead. Big Sooners football fan, of course. Here are my other predictions for the ppv: Micheals over Masters and in the cage match between Edge and Matt Hardy. I'll pick Matt and I can hear JR going sometime during that match "Will somebody stop the damn match". Lilian Garcia sang the National Anthem before the South Carolina football game vs Alabama; Lilian is a graduate of South Carolina. --- "Our Motto Shall Be: MORONIKA 4 MORONS" -Moe Howard (3 Stooges)

Bad news: I DIDN'T win the Big Game last night. Oh well; but one winning ticket was sold in Rutherford, NJ. Smackdown airs tonight (SAT) on UPN-9 in NYC. I can't wait for the Yankees season to end so SD can be shown at it's regular day: Friday. --- "No thanks; The Vending Machines at School Feed Me Now" -Bart Simpson

I thought that was where they were having it. The Ford Center is really nice.

Jules, the Carlito on TV and doing interviews for upcoming matches is going to be in "character". He is a heel (villian) so he is going to act that way. IRL he might be a cool guy.

Putbeds I don't think of Sideshow Bob when I see Carlito. I think of Juan Epstein from Welcome Back Kotter. I almost expect Carlito to have a note.

Please excuse Carlito from defending his Intercontintal Championship. He has leprosy and a limb might fall off during the match.

Signed

Here's what went down at the ppv last night: Flair won the I-C title and then picked 4 women out of the audience and they went into his limo to party; the limo didn't go anywhere and Flair was seen popping "Viagara" before entering the limo, funny stuff. HBK d Masters, good one. Benjamin d. Kerwin White; Trish/Ashley d. Torrie/Victoria; Matt Hardy d. Edge by pin; Matt did a legdrop from the top of the cage. Cade/Murdoch d. Cane/Rosie to win tag titles; Murdoch wanted to kiss Lillian Garcia but Cane came to rescue only to be given a neckbreaker by Murdoch. Show d. Snitsky, then Show hit Gene with ringbell. Angle d. Cena by dq and Cena gave FU to both Jerkoff & Angle. During the match, things got so heated between Coach & JR that JR called him a "boy". OH Shit!!! ////// Btw, these are the 2 things I WISH that JR woulda said last night: 1. "Coach, I just got a call from Stan Herman; he's waiting back at the hotel with the robe, slippers, a nice tofu meal, a bottle of Chianti chilling in the fridge and he's got the Judy Garland CD cranked up, so get outta here" **** 2. "Coach, I didn't mean to call you a boy; I'm so sorry; I meant to call you a loud-mouth, Bischoff-sucking, Eggplant MOOLIE, that's what Nunzio calls you all the time". Can't wait for Raw tonight and the impact from Unforgiven. Next to last RAW on Spike TV>

I loved Welcome Back, Kotter too! :)

Raw was pretty good last night. The divas were looking as good as ever, and the 8-man tag team main event was pretty good, especially the ending, with all 4 guys piling on top of Edge, Shawn Michaels sitting on top. That was vintage HBK! :)
