View Full Version : OT: Human Flaws

Look out, this is not a pretty, funny or humorous post. I am hopping flaming nuclear angry.
I know I am not perfect, nobody is. I bash my fair share of the hosts because well, that is what I do. The ONE thing I will NOT pick on or comment on is something physically wrong or distinct about the individual. No one ever knows the true story and I think it is just mean to pick on others for things that cannot help. For example, Sheilia's skin. I do remember hearing her say on air she is skin cancer survivor. Good for her, you go girl! Even the size of her hands you cannot do a thing about.
Lisa Mason (and y'all know how passionate I am about this one). Yes she has lupus. Yes we have crap days where we look worse than we feel. Yes sometimes her eyes appear words and speech is slurred. Thing sthat cannot be helped.
Lisa R. The whole "lipgate". She might have worked done, it might have been something else.
I could go and on but I won't. My angry tirade is stemming from a personal incident and some nasty PM's I received.
I will leave with one last remark. Remember not all disabilities are disabled. Before you judge try to put yourself in someone else's shoes.
And for the nasty PMer's. Find something better to do with your time!

The hosts put themselves out there in front of all of us. If they are sloppy in their presentations, vocabulary, attitude and personal appearance (I am talking about stuff they can improve, not physical conditions) they deserve what we give them. HHI, I don't know what someone said to you, but please don't let the morons get to you. As my mother used to say "Always consider the source!" You are a very special person and much beloved on this board. :-)

HHI - I totally agree with Rebel Mom. If you are in the public eye, people are going to comment. Comments (like people) come in all varieties. If someone expects me to believe their sales pitch, you can bet that I will pay attention to everything about that person. If I detect one shred of BS, forget it. The make up/skin care presentations are a supreme example. I use this, it's the best! A few days later, what do we see? The same host with a different product saying the same thing. Appearances are also fair game. I have bitched about sloppiness in appearance as well as presentations with good cause. Also, since I am not physically disabled, I cannot comment on this from a personal point of view but correct me if I'm wrong: Would a disabled person like it if they were given a special favor or consideration BECAUSE of the disablity? I think not. Therefore, ALL of us humans take the bitter with the sweet. Every damn one of us, including show hosts, trolls and private messagers alike.
If the PM'ers that are sending you stuff had guts, they would post it for all to see. That should tell you VOLUMES right there. Consider the source and let it slide.
As for the specific people you mentioned in your post - all I can say is the way they handle themselves on the air is what matters to me. Some are full of crap, some are just full of themselves and some are just right. Hell, I suspect there is at least one person that likes JRT.

One word: Cowards. I think by now I have made myself clear ad nauseum on that issue.
I am in total agreement regarding the freedom to post on this board. Whether I agree or not, and many times I not only don't agree, but I am bothered by certain posts, we are all entitled to our opinions. Sometimes I need to follow my own advice and not post back, but we're all human. And I think that was Jen's original point. Not all flaws are physical, for sure, and I have more than my share. I just can't see making things all warm and fuzzy when the world isn't. Jen, ignore the ignoramuses. I probably spelled that wrong...another flaw! lol {{{{Jen}}}}

I totally agree about posting our opinions and hosts being fair game with their appearance. I am guilty of this as well as I posted in the orginal statement.
It is the things people can't change that bothers me. The physical things being picked on all the time. Hell, I am the first one to point out that someone hasn't washed their hair or looks like they smell. And sometimes it is just plain funny! But again, it is the physical things that others cannot change. I read a horrible horrible thread on another BB about Sheila and her skin. It was so mean spirited and hateful. Once you have had skin cancer things don't change. Even if you beat it your skin continues its downward spiral and no amount of Dr. D or philosophy or a visit to the witch doc can help ya. That is what bothers me.
Oh and you know what else bugs me? The feet and sandals thread. Who cares?

I agree about the feet and sandals thread, enough already. I thought that stuff was supposed to be posted on the HSN board.

Sorry, people--I stand with HHgirl on this one. It's enjoyable to make fun of "teeny" JRT and cackling Leah and David stuffing his mouth and Patti Reilly's weight--but there are problems people have that they can't do a thing about. Skin cancer is one of them.
We should poke fun where fun is due--but show compassion (or at least understanding) for things that can never be changed, no matter how much a host would like to.

HHIgirl - maybe you should post these PM's WITH the names of those that sent them to you ... show the entire board what morons these people are. I'm guessing they are un-registered WINNERS ;-)
Poking fun is something we all do ... some voice it, some keep it to themselves. This board is the PERFECT place to do it one is so inclined. I've said all along I'm not in favor of the mean spirited posts ... theres no need to be racist and cruel ... it only shows how ignorant that poster is (IMO).

Sorry - skin cancer aside, the age spots look very bad on TV especially when the skin that has the spots is covering a lumpy boob job. Did anyone ever think that there is a (remote) possibility that her statment was.....a lie? If a host raves about one product and then turns around a few days later raving about another similar product (with the SAME sales pitch, btw!) I just have to wonder. Also, does this mean that hosts should share THAT kind of personal info with us but WE do not like to hear about a CALLER'S health problems?

Puddy, good point. Callers are ridiculed for sharing personal info, but the hosts can and we have to feel...sympathy? I think what's good for some should be good for all. Can we ban mean posts on this board? Nope. Should we? Well, maybe some feel yes, but then is it a true forum? And how do we decide what's mean and what's not? I mean, if it offends me but not Puddy, is it mean? Or if it offends Puddy but not me, how about then? I don't have the answers, but for the most part this is a great place. Just like in real life, I see good and bad. Who doesn't? Sometimes life sucks, how we handle it makes us what we are. Jen, ignore the doofuses, they aren't worth your time.

I would not post the screen names of the jerks either. Why give them 'free advertising', IMO?
