View Full Version : Lisa R at Neiman Marcus

I thought I would keep the Lisa R fan club going. I saw Lisa Robertson at Neiman Marcus this past Sunday(September 18,2005), She is shorter and smaller in person. She was wearing a long skirt, flouncy and to the ankle with open toed mules. Her hair was the same that it appears on TV. She looked straight ahead and did not make eye contact with a soul. My daughter saw her when she was going down the escalator and Lisa was going up the escalator. They were about one foot from each other and she never looked up or over. My daughter said she was heavily made up with false eyelashes and the like. I found it interesting that she looks neither left or right. She was accompanied by a female friend with whom she never stopped talking. She visited the jewelery and was headed to shoes. Her on air personna is certainly different than the one she presented in person. Perhaps she was fearful that she may be mobbed by autograph seekers. (Tongue in cheek) Certainly she surrounded herself with an aura of, "Do not dare approach me." I thought I would share this with all my poster companions and they, too, would find it as amusing as did I.

I have a good girlfriend who is a local newscaster ... she does the same thing (focus, don't look people in the eye). If you think about it, on-air people really can't win ... if they talk to you-someone will find something to criticize, if they don't talk to you they are a bitch ... I'd probably just look forward and zone in on my goal as well.

If she (Lisa) were in the appropriate setting (qvc store, guest tour, etc) I'm sure whe looks people straight in the eye and smiles ... but when you are out and about on your own time ... I can see not wanting to deal with the "celebrity" factor. I understand that it's part of the job ... but we all deserve to go to Neimans without issue!!! lol ...

Hi,

I have to agree, as I met Lisa when I was there for a audience show and she couldnt have been more pleasant. And I can see how she could have been like that in public.

Novalee
09-19-2005, 11:46 AM
One smile and casual word in public might be all it takes to send an "invitation" to a potential stalker. If I'd had the problems she has had, I wouldn't invite attention, either.

Mosh, thanks for the blow by blow of Lisa's shopping trip to Needless Markup, you gave us great detail. Beekeeper, I agree most likely she wanted to get her shopping done and not be bothered by looky lookers wanting her picture and autograph.

It's been a long time since I've read or posted and the same ole thing seems to be posted, talking about people, judging people. Recently I sent a letter to the Katrina Convention Center for homeless people in Houston, "To anyone who needs a friend or penpal" on the outside of the envelope, I enclosed a large sheet of paper, stamped envelope and a book of stamps inside. I told that person I was thinking of them I was hoping to make someone happy. Why don't you think something up that would help someone and it doesn't cost much as I did. I am on a retirement income and don't have much except happiness and helping others. Lisa R has money and a good life which doesn't include us so let her go, I love her anyways. Sincerely, Joanie

Jackie, that was nice of you to do that. I think most of us have done something in the way of helping Katrina victims through the Red Cross or on a more personal basis, since some of us have relatives and friends in that area.

You ought to know that whenever you get a bunch of women together, someone will get picked on. That's just human nature. No one means Lisa any harm, in fact I think most of us feel sorry for her because she feels she has to wear all that goop on her face and she's afraid of changing her look to keep up with her age and current trends. If it wasn't poor Lisa, it would be some other unfortunate clueless woman that would be the target.

Thanks for the update Mosh....interesting!

And, I have to agree with Bee/Novalee, and I feel for Lisa who is maybe overly cautious with good reason after her stalker experience.

Novalee, is your avatar a picture of your home???..... How are you doing lately, btw?

I don't blame her for trying to be in a "bubble". I have friends in high profile jobs and they do the same thing. It is a damned if you do, damned if you don't sitch.

On a different NM note. They are having a fabulous beauty day! Free stuff, free shipping, free tote bags filled with free stuff and they have the brand new Annick Goutal parfum that you can't get any place else!

Mosh
09-19-2005, 02:15 PM
That is exactly what I was doing. Getting my free goodie bag. They do pile it on when they have those promos. Can't complain. Except for the clothes they are very pricey and made for stick people.

Ohhhhhhhhhhhh! Mosh! I am so envious!!! We don't have NM anywhere near us so I only shop via catalog and web. I actually end up getting great deals during their sales since I am just barely five feet tall.

Did you buy fabulous make up? Share, please! We sure would like to know what else is out there besides BE! Which I am officially OVER!

Funny thing, a few yrs. ago my daughter and Iwere shopping in Bloomingdales in K of P mall which is not too far from QVC headquarters. We saw Judy Crowell getting off the escalator........she looked friendly and approachable. She was quite petite with a great figure and a so so face.

Let's see. I like Darphin skin care products but they are very pricey, too. (NM is one of the few places that carry that line.) I explain this away by one of my many maxims: It is better to spend money on one's hair and skin because one "wears" hair and skin all the time as opposed to clothes. (Unless of course you are Lisa Robertson((couldn't resist.)) I have a problem, though, fitting my shoe requirements into that maxim. It is a dilemma. I digress. You spend x number of dollars and they give you a whole goodie bag of products to try. Mostly samples. However, here is something interesting: Is anyone familiar with LeMer? it is a product that has been featured on the Style Network. It is apparently a gadzillion dollars. I guess it is similar to a nightime cream product. Anyway, in this goodie bag they give you a coupon for a free sample of that product too. One hitch, you have to go to the LeMer counter and present yourself for the sample. They just don't give you the sample in the goodie bag. There is perfume, lipsticks, body lotions all sorts of goodies. And the nice thing is I got goodie bags full of the skin products I use too. I feel I hit paydirt. Like winning the lottery for face, hands and feet.

Some people would get the wrong idea even if Lisa just glanced at them. They'd think she was in love with them or something. I don't blame Lisa one bit for doing that.

I think Novalee is on to something. After the stalking incident, Lisa may have been coached by the experts in security as to how to comport herself in public. I too think she deserves some "off time" and privacy.

Jackie Kou - I don't think posting here and what we post is a commentary on what we have or have not done for the hurricane victims. The poster above is right. It is nice what you did, and I'd guess that each of us has done something in our own ways. I have.

Paula, it is what's left of our house, as I'm sure you recognized from the pictures I sent to you. And it isn't meant to be sad, it's actually meant as a sort of "go to hell" to Katrina. lol

As far as I'm concerned, the American flag is the most stirring symbol of hope on earth, so that's why we left one. It's anchored in what was the drain of our kitchen sink. I think it's beautiful, and I hope no one is bothered by it. That really is not my intention.

Jackie, I also agree that what you did was a very nice gesture, and I'm sure someone will appreciate it very much. Like Hershey, I think we've all helped in our own way. :)

Yes, she looked very Bohemian. Long skirt with a ruffle or flounce at the bottom about 5 inches wide. The skirt barely came to the top of her shoes. I actually liked it, different than she wears on TV. Perhaps she should wear something like that. It was colorful. Almost as if she were at a Mexican gala. All that was needed was a Calypso band and castonets. She actually looked cute.

I also don't see anything wrong with Lisa not giving eye contact or anything like that. Where I live it's hard enough trying to shop at a mall without someone contantly asking if they can help me, wanting to get me to take a survey or to try their lotion or perfume. I am one of those that likes to look around without being bothered. If I need help I will ask for it so I often just look straight ahead and not even acknowledge someone who might be approaching me. I know that it is part of the lifestyle that comes with being an on-air personality but I can't imagine what some celebrities go through when it comes to just wanting to go out shopping or to dinner, etc.

One time in Indy my friend and I saw Paula Cole at music store. She gave off the same "don't bother me" vibe, however we did approach her anyway. She was very pleasant to us and signed the CD of hers that we had just purchased. I bet that had Mosh politely said something to Lisa or asked for an autograph she probably would have obliged.

One of my neighbors has a cousin who works at QVC and she says that there is a lot of security guards around whenever Lisa is doing a spot outside of headquarters since the stalking incident. They have security metal detectors when you go in and bag searching. She is also escorted out after her shift. The last stalking incident happened right at QVC when the guy showed up with a diamond ring for Lisa.. It is scary!!!!..I think even her emails goes thru a moderator before it reaches her.... I guess QVC is a safe place to work.

I shop fairly often at that NM, and saw Marie Osmond there once.....She was gracious, gorgeous and walked around like a normal person.....I didn't notice anyone bothering her. The whole atmosphere in that store is one of class and elegance ~ I don't think anyone would have yelled across the Yurman counter at her for an autograph.....if I hadn't already heard one too many stories about Ms Robertson acting too big for her CREAM britches, I'd shrug this off........but it's one too many times, for God knows what reason.

If Lisa is so worried about being recognized, she ought to just pull off the eyelashes, not outline her lips, and pull her hair back, and no one would recognize her. It must make her feel special to be recognized, or she would have figured out how to go incognito by this time. If Julia Roberts can pull it off, I would think Lisa could.

I believe that Pat Dementri had a stalker about 5 or 6 years ago if I remember correctly. It could have been longer ago than that though. That's just creepy-scary to me. Good thing the Q has a handle on it though, especially for Lisa these days. Unfortunately, that type seems drawn to her.

Mosh
09-20-2005, 01:04 PM
The reason I asked about the stalking issue is due to the fact that other hosts are quite high profile and I had not heard of any one else having this issue. I wonder why if other hosts do not have stalkers, why Lisa R would? I guess I am leary of one host making this claim when other hosts do not appear to have the same problem. This is not to minimize this issue of stalking but rather to clarify the veracity of the charges. Stalking someone is a serious charge. Not one to be taken lightly. Police reports should be issued and an investigation undertaken. However, and hear is my caveat, stalking charges do seem to make the press reports and raise the profile of the individual who is making the charges. It also results in companies increasing the security surrounding that individual. I recall an incident at the UofD that made all the papers. A coed alleged stalking charges. She stated that she had received threatening phone calls and death threats. These charges resulted in Newark police officers providing body guards for for her arround the clock. In addition, the UofD had to provide additional security measures. An investigation was launched and no credible evidence was ever found to support the coed's allegations. Many thousands of dollars were spent for naught but she received a tremendous amount of publicity. Pardon me for being wary.

beaglelvr
09-20-2005, 01:15 PM
That's horrible what that girl did. Like you said Mosh, stalking is serious business and to make false claims for publicity or any other reason is just not right. Too bad publicity seems to be the motivator for so many things these days. I know that Lisa and Pat did have real stalkers though and both were caught and prosecuted. I'm not sure of the exact outcome, but some of the old posts on this board have more info on Lisa's.

Back when I lived in the city, I never made eye contact with anyone. And, no, I am not a celebrity. But the world is full of weirdos.... if this is your normal "outside" behavior I would imagine that you don't change it even if you are in the lovely and wonderful needless markup. LOL

The stalking incidents was all over the news and newspapers, one of the stalkers used Pat Demetry to get to Lisa and even dare to go to her house with the whole bunch of gifts for Lisa, another stalker used Jacque Gonzalez to get to Lisa and the last one was arrested when he showed up at QVC with the diamond ring, the police was waiting for him with open arms and chains of love, she even got death threats.. QVC had to beef up security, no other host has been stalked that I know of . I guess because Lisa is more highly profile than the rest of the hosts QVC is not taking any chances. I remenber the actress that was killed by an stalker few years ago she was so young.. That is why they no longer show the name of the host next to the program guide this way nobody knows who is hosting what and when.. It is a scary situation and apparently Lisa handle it well but it could have cost her her life... The three men were sentenced to few years in jail....If you want more information read the philadelphia and ohion newspapers...

HelloKitty, thank you. :)

Nope, it's our foundation and assorted other "mementos" that belonged to other folks and ended up with us.

We went home to see our losses on September 9, and we took pictures for SPAMSPAMSPAMSPAMSPAMSPAMSPAMSPAMSPAM purposes, as well as because we felt the need.

My husband and I decided to plant a flag there, because we thought the pictures of the flag going up at the World Trade Center were so powerful. We did so with the approval of our fire department escort, who helped my husband secure it.

As for Lisa, she's the only person I know who could cause such a stir just by going shopping. Except for the one caused by Oprah for not being permitted to go shopping. lol

plutarca -
There actually aren't metal detectors to get into the building; the detectors for the building where the studio is are for id badges. Employees have badges that they use so they don't have to stop and register, but any guest has to see the security desk, show id, and then they get a temporary badge.

There have been a lot of incidents regarding hosts and stalkers, and even some of the regular guests have had to increase the security around them at one time or another because if freaky people.

"We had to go through a metal detector when we went to an audience show this year - a few years ago, there was no metal detector - a sign of the times I guess."

You're right - my apologies. There is a metal detector at that particular entrance, but also keep in mind that the tour guides are well trained to know where anyone and everyone is when people go on a tour or participate in audience shows.

The main entrance that employees, guests, vendors, and other folks like that are where they need badges, but are without metal detectors.

Something else to keep in mind - it IS, after all, a television studio. There are cameras EVERYWHERE (within reason). There's a large security team who monitors all the goings on in the building. I would imagine that if something were to go down, someone womewhere would have seen it and the response would be quick.

Hi Mosh. yes Selena was killed by the president of her fan club who was also her personal assistant. She was a frequent visitor at Selena's headquaters until she got Selena's attention and her trust. rumours are that she was in love with Selena and was very jealous of anybody coming close to her. She stole large amounts of money also. Selena was too naive to even believe it she paid a high price. he one I was referring to was Rebeca. She was killed by a stalker who at the beginning she thought was friendly and she actually began to trust when she realized who he really was, he killed her.. so sad.. Selena was killed on my birthday march 31

I believe that if I had that problem I might act as thus: always wear sunglasses that are opaque so that no one can see into them and see my eyes or where I was looking. The type that are large and reflective. Then, I would never, ever, go out without a hat, or headcovering. I would be ever vigilent of my surroundings. I would never ignore the people around me, quite the opposite instead, always being aware of who was next to me and what they were doing. I would also listen to the chatter surrounding me. I would never be so caught up in my own converstion that I could not be aware of the conversations surrounding me. Come to think of it, I do those things now simply to protect my purse.

friend
09-22-2005, 10:53 AM
I know someone who Lisa R. knows who was arrested for stalking her by QVC and she did nothing to help him.
She has known this man since before she worked at QVC. She did not want anyone to know about him because she was afraid of what QVC would do to him. She called him a "special friend".
Some friend she is.

As for the others they got what they deserved. You don't go up to a woman you never met and she does not know you, with gifts and jewelry and expect her to be overwhelmed. More like insulted is the fact.

This "special friend" never bought or brought her anything except himself so she could see him and trust me when she saw him she was a very happy woman.
Her family knows who he is as well.
But I will not say his name.

I will tell you this: She has in the past traveled a long distance to be near him and even danced with him once, before and after she was at QVC.
He knows everything now. He didn't know what she did before.
We told and showed him.
He never forced himself upon her because its "Lisa Robertsons" "CHOICE", and he will just have to respect that she choose QVC, money and things over him.
This is the only time I will be in this site. so say and believe what you want, just know this, WE have proof and know Lisa Robertson very well.

lambyo - In the interest of security, and after reading some of the more recent posts, I don't think it would be a good idea to post the exact location of the other entrance.

I think the idea of someone having a stalker is really scary. I don't know what I would do in that situation. My sister had one a few years back, although he didn't go to the extremes that some of the 'celebrity' stalkers have gone - he just wrote some letters. Once she talked with the police, and he was contacted, things got better. She has since moved out of the state and hasn't had any issues with him in years.

Sevaroonie...understood - after reading that post above, I agree with you. I remember my first visit to the Q, before Sept 11 (can't remember the year, everything is separated by that date it seems), we were actually parked in the same lot as Janey - we walked out to our car with her. I guess Q has beefed up their security - I remember guests arriving through the same door as us also.

>>Someone inquires about the exact location where QVC employees enter.<<

LA Girl - don't worry, I'm not a stalker ;) just a middle aged woman who enjoys attending audience shows.

That "friendly" poster has an odd history. "HE" has actually had a "vacation" sponsored by our friends in Westchester, PA. I do believe his original moniker suggest the need for a mucous receptacle collector. I am wondering if Q should be alerted, again.

I've often wondered about the security of QVC for the hosts, especially the women working late late. For instance, if I were someone of interest to stalkers/psychotics like Lisa R who might be working until 1 am, I would expect someone in security to watch me until I made it out of the parking lot safetly, but who's to say there isn't some wacko parked nearby to follow them home? I cannot drive home by myself at 2am without feeling a tad nervous, and I am not a TV "personality"...

Kell,
I don't blame you. That isn't being nervous. That is being smart. YOu have no idea what morons, idiots, thrillseekers, etc. are out there these days. The world is a scary place.

lambyo - I didn't mean any offense to you and I apologize if I did offend you. It was just a weird coincidence. Hope you have a lovely weekend. LA-CA

Exactly right, and now that his "vacation" is over, he keeps coming back here and posting about Lisa, saying each time that it's the ONLY time he'll be on this site, although he still reads it. I also hope that QVC continues to monitor these boards, for Lisa's sake.

We all joke and tease about Lisa R, but this has to be the real down-side of her job.....I don't even know this person, and the post creeps me out.

It just amazes me how many people can exist -without a real life. Very sad.

That FRIEND posting is scary, stalking is a serious offense. i know QVC picks up and drives the hosts home when the wheather is bad but regarding Lisa's safety I'm sure there is security and she is escorted to her car but what about when she leaves the parking lot?? someone can easily follow her to her house, I'm sure she has an alarm system... And who know maybe QVC has a bodyguard for her !!!!... We are living in desperate times!!!!

He "NEVER" forced himself upon her because its "Lisa Robertsons" "CHOICE", and "SHE CHOOSE" QVC, MONEY and THINGS.

AND NO WE DON'T STALK!

We investigate and observe suspicious people who follow(ed) him.

We have done it for over a decade and we will be there observing and protecting him from harm until the day he dies.

Your federal tax dollars at work.

NO! you do not have the right to know why we watch over him!

and "friend" is several people not one!
