View Full Version : Ted Leach Is A Good Sport
Hershey

I'm sitting and watching the Buzz on style with Ted Leach being the male among all those females, and he is modelling a Stone Mountain purse across his shoulder. What a good sport he is! He is now helping to sell a six-gore skirt by making comments about how attractive it is - so he's helping out the seller of the Freelance line.
Earlier today, I saw him put on a pair of non-pierced hoop earrings he was selling (he looked good in them!). I can understand that, since he was trying to sell the earrings and thus make money on them. But for him to model a purse now - what a good sport.
He is a class act (as we've posted here before) but also has a very good sense of humor, and, although I think he is quite a New England blueblood, he "gets down and dirty" with the rest of us. Good guy.
And the consummate gentleman. At the end of the show, he stood up and shook everyone's hand. I hope he appears on more Buzz shows - he is good!

I love Ted Leach. Do you remember him giving a white gold TSV bracelet to Lena on the air? He is a smooth operator even under adverse conditions!!!

Puddy, no - I didn't see that. But today Lena mentioned that she owns an Eterna Gold white gold rolo bracelet. Is that the one?
puddy

It sure is. He gave it to her at the end of a show they did together. He never said a word. He just took it, handed it to Lena and patted her hand. Totally smooth. Even with the bow tie.

Puddy, wow - what a great job being a host is, with great perks. I like Ted and would have been happy with the touching my hand part! Let alone getting white gold to boot!

I find his shows interesting - I like the gold and like listening to him.

He is proud of his line and very, very smart. He wants people to understand what they are buying and why they should by EternaGold. I'll bet it's a nice place to work, too.
I wonder if the employees get a discount!!!!
Hershey

I agree, puddy. I like how he gives his workers credit and sometimes names them by name, how he talks fondly about his wife & daughter, how he thanks people when they buy something (a caller he's talking to) or whenever something sells out (he obviously has good manners), how enthusiastic he is about his product, etc. etc. He is smart & articulate so he's a pleasure to watch.

Is anyone ordering anything from Eterna today?
I ordered a big honker. It was on this afternoon - I'd seen it once before and wanted it and today it was on easy pay. It's a necklace with a huge 4-inch long pendant with a round disk and freshwater pearls dangling from it - J76696. Can't wait to get it! I wish Ted would deliver it himself!

Hershey, I just looked it up to see it. It's very pretty! And you go, splurging on yourself! I am not a big yellow gold wearer of late, but it seems to slowly be making a comeback and I plan in incorporating a few pieces in w/my white metals! My roommate has these gorgeous (costume) thin thin thin yellow gold hoops and I LOVE them.
Congrats on your purchase!

Hellokitty,
Thanks very much. I haven't bought jewelry in quite a while. The necklace looked much better on TV than it did on the web but I'm glad you took a look at it.
Puddy,
Does asking to talk on the air ever work?

Not yet, puddy, but there is still a half hour left in the show. Funny, I liked a lot of pieces this afternoon, but haven't seen anything the least bit tempting tonight. Seems like items I've seen several times before.

LEACH & GARNER AGREES TO ALTER GOLD ADS
Leach and Garner International, Providence, R.I., has agreed to more clearly state quality claims about its new Leach & Garner Gold made in print ads and during television shopping programs. The action follows complaints to the Better Business Bureau by two competitors.
The competitors - Dalow Industries, Long Island City, N.Y., and OroAmerica, Burbank, Cal. - cited print ads that tout the superiority of 14k Leach & Garner Gold regarding hardness, color, durability and shine. They also questioned more specific claims that president Ted Leach made about the company's Eterna Gold during a QVC television shopping network broadcast.
The National Advertising Division of the Council of Better Business Bureaus, New York, N.Y., investigated and said it could not substantiate Leach and Garner's claims. NAD recommended that Leach & Garner stress that the unique quality of its gold results from the combination of technical features, not the superiority of individual features. Specifically, the NAD report urges the company to "modify certain claims which do not make it clear that Leach & Garner Gold is not the hardest, nor the gold with the best color, but a unique combination which is not the hardest but among the hardest available and not the best or most natural color but among the best available."
Ted Leach says he is pleased with the report and describes it as "a vindication of all that we have done to make this a superior product." He says the report supports his company's claims regarding the superiority of a combination of features, specifically its high-hardness, highly desirable color, reversibility of hardness and fine grain structure.
Mark Hanna, president of Leach & Garner International, says future advertising will avoid any perceived "exaggerations" and will focus on new marketing opportunities for users of his company's gold.
NAD, in association with the National Advertising Review Board, is a self-regulatory program designed by advertisers and administered by the Council of Better Business Bureaus.

I get to relax til like 3, as Thanksgiving dinner is at my aunt's at 4pm. Ahhh...so I was looking at a Tiffany's catalog and it dawned on me. I received a white gold necklace from an ex prob like one or two years ago, but I rarely wore it and it really is in good condition. I daydreamt that Tiffany's would just give me merchandise credit, but given the time lapse, I'm not so sure they would, right?? I wanna sell it. I will never wear it. But if I sell it somehow, is that wrong? Is that bad karma?

hk ~ Don't personally see any bad karma in selling jewelry from an ex bf or even an ex-husband. Sounds like cash to spend on yourself for what you want, to me. Maybe I'm missing something. Btw, if that is the latest small blue book, I was disappointed in the offerings. You?
One of my daughters can only wear platinum and thank heavens, Eternagold & Ethereal Gold. (?) Is that the name of the other? Haven't seen that one on lately. Totally agree that Ted L. is a cool & classy guy w/ a good company.

Hi LA, Happy Thanksgiving! I never really see anything that I LOVE in those mailings...always seem to be the same ol' thing the millions of times we get it in the mail. But of course, if I was able to get credit, I'm sure I would have NO problem trying to find things I wouldn't mind getting! :)
I have one pair of Eternagold earrings. At first I didn't like them because I thought the claps on the hoops were too tight; turns out I just needed to "break them in"...now I love them!

My heart stopped a beat today and I got some gray hairs I'm sure.
I just received a very light envelope from QVC and couldn't imagine what it was. I opened the envelope and inside - just the billing statement and program guide - NOTHING else - empty envelope. The billing statement said it was my Eternal Gold necklace with the round disk and freshwater pearls - for a grand total of $319.15. No necklace. And the envelope hadn't been opened or tempered with so a P.O. worker didn't have it.
I called cust. service IMMEDiATELY. I was upset not only because the necklace wasn't there and I had over $300 charged to my credit card, but the necklace had sold out - or so I thought.
The cust. serv. rep. couldn't have been nicer. There IS another necklace there and she is sending it right out. No questions, no suspicions that I might have it, nothing. In fact, this sounded like it was a pretty routine occurrence. She explained to me that nowadays everything is packaged by computer, so it probably just never was put in the envelope. THANK GOODNESS I'm getting a replacement. Really, she was very nice and nonchalant about it, while I was borderline hysterical. Rather than sending it via P.O., she is sending it 2-day UPS. Good idea. All's well that ends well, but what a scare!

Hi Hershey:
That happened to me, with a necklace. I ordered and when I opened that blue box, it was empty.. I was frantic, as it was a birthday gift.
I called them and it had sold out, so she credited the amount back to my account... there were no questions asked either...
Makes you wonder, doesnt it?
Hershey
11-30-2005, 07:18 AM
Paula, at first she thought I'd received the blue box. But no - nothing. Empty envelope altogether.
I can imagine how I'd have felt if it was sold out, which I thought it was. Really disappointed.
If this is happening fairly often, they need to fix it.
She did say that if the first one shows up, please return it which of course I would.

Hershey, I'm glad things worked out for you, and I'm sorry not for you, Paula. I would have been really upset either way. It is amazing how many more mistakes are being made, and how nonchalant they are about fixing them. I guess the good news is that they do.

Speaking of goof-ups, yesterday I received an e-mail from QVC regarding 'my refund'. I recently bought AussieMr something for Christmas, and received it around two weeks ago. It seems they've credited my account for $27.39 (the cost of the item) and hope this issue has been solved to my satisfaction. I guess I'll have to call them about this. I haven't sent ANYTHING back recently, so I don't know what is going on.

They must have sent the replacement necklace out overnight UPS, because I got it yesterday, the day after I called. I had to sign for it - first I made sure there was actually a box in the envelope before I would sign!
It's really gorgeous - I love it. For anyone thinking about it, it's very, very light. Apparently, you don't get a lot of grams of gold for the price with Eterna Gold. But it's really a lovely necklace and looks hand crafted or custom made or whatever. I really do like it a lot and think I will get a lot of use out of it. I'm really glad it wasn't sold out.

I checked it out on the website Hershey (btw, it still wasn't sold out) ... very pretty! It is SO pretty! I've never owned any of the Eterna gold, but have read here on the boards it is fabulous!
