View Full Version : Quacker Factory Shit

Will anyone admit to ordering this disgusting line of garbage? How can they sell so much. That bitch with the head band made $50 million last year on Quacker whacko stuff alone. It's revolting. My god, who wears such crap? It's worse than Indigo Moon.

She actually got a write-up in Newsweek recently. You know, there are alot of plus size women out there and Bice was smart enough to zero in on this market. She figured out that they would want what she wears. The 3X folks don't like to go to stores to shop either. Large women will tell you that they like it when people concentrate on their clothes rather than their size and these items are 'conversation pieces'. Personally, I wouldn't wear them to take out the garbage but obviously there is a big demand for them.

While it's not for everybody, many women do wear it so I wouldn't want to offend any of them! We all have our own tastes and styles ... so cheers to the Quackers! Whatever makes you feel good about yourself!!! :-)

You are right, Beekeeper. I am sorry if I insulted anyone. We all have different tastes and if certain outfits make you feel good, you should wear them. Sometimes just finding clothes that fit can be a problem no matter what your size is.

Yes, but plus size women wear can be made in attractive ways, and not with snowcones on your shirt.

As a plus size professional woman, Quacker Factory is definitely NOT the image I want to project. I am definitely a tailored classic style fan. But if you like the designs and wearing them makes you smile, more power to you. I just wish some of the stuff wasn't so plug ugly...

Where did the idea that Quacker Factory is only for plus sized women come from? Jean Bice is big, but the clothes come in all sizes. I don't want a closet full of decorated sweaters, but obviously they are popular. I own one of her rather ornate sweaters and wear it rarely. It is from years ago and has large pink flamingos. It is cute for cruise wear or at the shore in the summer. It has it's place. I also have a red, white, and blue outfit, my favorite combination of colors for summer. The things I have are well made.
Live and let live, I say. But then, I also have one Indigo Moon jacket which I also wear rarely but have always had compliments on when I did.
Relax, Judas. Enjoy your life and let others do as well.
By the way, I am not tiny, but certainly not plus sized, either.

I have both Quacker Factory, (only Christmas motif, though) and carefully selected Indigo Moon.
I think caution is the key. Some women like to wear something cutely decorated for the holidays, maybe not over-the-top, though. And sure, Indigo Moon offers some really "loud" pieces, but I think both lines try to offer something for everyone.
Now, Susan Graver and Maggie Sweet....don't even get me started.;)

Generally I would have always agreed with the comments about Susan Graver. Her things were terrible looking and of very poor quality. Last year I bought a tweed jacket and it is very nice. I also have a couple of sweaters that are also nice. I think she is improving in the quality she offers.

well, while i dont know that i would really wear any of her clothes except possibly a sweater at christmas time as it would be fun to have one to wear and be feastive.
there are some careers where it would be appropriate and fun to have them. take a teacher for instance kids love that type of thing. and a doctor, specailly if in pediactrics. dentists, as well perhaps.
so i guess i cant knock the clothes or the woman...lol for i think she is a very nice lady, caring as well. lol,, funny too she makes me laugh anyways..

Thanks for the kind words....I'm glad I gave a chuckle. I wear the Snowcat cardigan on casual Fridays to work sometimes & everyone there really thinks it's cute. It even has a snowcat zipper pull! That was the deciding factor to make me buy.....

I confess...I purchased a Quacker Factory washable suede blazer with two tiny sunflowers on the pockets. It looks nice, cleans up well and was sized perfectly--but, that said, I haven't seen much other QF merchandise that I would order. I so prefer Denim & Co.....

{{{{{Tooncey}}}}} I agree, you just made me LOL! Good for everyone! I have a Halloween shirt, I bought it this year, and I don't much care who likes it. I'm not plus, either, and I'm also not sure where that came from. lol
What's funny, and we discussed this a while back, is that if you look at some exclusive designers, they have holiday wear very similar to QF, but at obscene pricing. So, I guess it's ok to wear tacky embellished clothing if you pay alot for it at a particular store or from an "approved" snobby catalog, but not if you don't and you got it from the Q. Ladies, do we have the rules down now? lol
Quack, Quack!!

Even if you work with kids, it doesn't mean you have to dress like one. If you think about it, Quacker Factory clothes are children's clothes made into adult sizes. Leave the snowman sweaters and kitty cat shirts for the kids, people.

Please don't hold back, Judas, tell us how you really feel. Geez...what is it with some people that they can't (or won't) recognize someone's else's preferences. You don't like her clothes, fine, don't buy them, but to call her "that bitch with the head band" is uncalled for and to ask who wears such "crap", well, Judas, I do, and I'm not a plus size woman either. I like her sense of whimsy and while not all her clothes are right for me, they must be right for someone else out there because she sells them out every time. Personally, it's not her clothes that I find revolting, rather, it's attitudes like yours that display no acceptance of anyone's prefereces that differ from yours. You need to show some tolerance, hon, life's too short to display such anger about something so trivial.

Maria,
I love Jean Bice. Maybe she has made millions, but she is a apparently a very down-to-earth millionaire.
She seems like a person who is very genuine and kind, a welcome change from some of the snooty vendors that there seems to be a surplus of.
I agree that every one has their own preferences, and while I wouldn't wear QF on a daily basis, but I certainly wouldn't cast aspersions on someone who does. My neighbor loves QF, and yes, she's older and a plus-sized person, but so what? She gets such a kick out of those clothes! Like you said, life is short...

GREAT post crlywhtdog! I'm not here to knock Judas either ... but just because you don't like her clothes doesn't make a personal attack warranted!
You go to the mall, you can find just about anything you could ever imagine ... santa sweaters, suits and frilly dresses. Something for everyone. I'm certainly one happy SANTA knowing we can all make our own decisions onw hat to wear! Consider that women in the middle East CAN wear whatever they want at home, but when they are out ... they have to cover up. Yes, I think we are just a bit lucky to be Americans! Like Oprah says, simply being born in America, you are already one of the luckiest people alive!

Great posts, everybody. I've never ordered any Quacker Factory clothing, but about ten or fifteen years ago I had a Christmas sweater that could have passed for Quacker Factory. I'd wear it to work during the holiday season. Dont' know what ever happened to it, LOL! Oh, btw, I was watching Regis and Kelly this morning, and they were showing people who had on holiday sweaters and shirts. I'll just bet there had to be a Quacker Factory item among the bunch. ;)
'Tis the season for tolerance. :)

I wonder if Jean Bice was a, oh I don't know, let's say, Reese Witherspoon-type of woman, if her success would garner the type of comments it currently does....... I don't see those kind of comments about Jessica Simpson's success with her Dessert Beauty line (now that's a whole different thread, LOL).
Personally, I don't wear QF clothing at this point in my life, but I certainly don't hate it. It is what it is - clothing. I don't understand the anger and ridicule directed at it. Jean built up her "empire" from nothing and that's nothing to sneeze at.
beekeeper
12-20-2005, 06:39 AM
I agree beagle! While I don't care for those type of items ... I certainly understand the fun and happiness they can bring into ones life! Life is too short to be so serious all the time! The shows I've watched of Jeanne's, a lot of teachers call in saying their "kids" LOVE the sweaters. Isn't that enough?!? If they bring a smile to ones face or happiness in ones heart ... then by gosh wear that bedazzled sweater!
Barbara Walters wears these sweaters on the View, and she is given both praise and ridicule for it. Tis the season people ... lighten up!

I wear both Quacker Factory and Indigo Moon. I have a house full of both and as an attorney, I find them both to be very professional office attire.
I don't care what anybody thinks about the clothing, I like it and that is all that matters.
I'll also bet Jean Bice doesn't give a crap that Judas thinks her line of clothing is shit. She'll put her bank account up against yours any old day, then laugh her butt off at you!
I won't wear QF but everyone has their own style and taste.
Today, I did notice that all the larger sizes were sold out (1X-3X).

and how many young children are affraid of goin to the doc, or dentist?
quite a few, don't u think that maybe it would take there mind of it a bit, and maybe feel just tad more at ease. maybe think they aren't quite so scary, just trying to think like a kid, since i am around a 1 1/2 and

I do have a Christmas sweater that could almost pass for QF, but it is 10 years old and I haven't even pulled it out for this year. I guess being a larger person, I am sensitive about how I look in clothes. I am almost 6 feet in my stockings in addition to being plus size, so I look at some of Jeanne's clothes and think, if I ever put that on, at best it would like a circus tent, at the worst I might scare little children!
Linda Lou
12-20-2005, 04:32 PM
Aw, c'mon RebelMom,
I'm sure you would'nt scare little children! LOL!
I watch her shows just for the fun of it 'cause I like the way she interacts with people, but I've seen some flattering looks on the plus-size models, and they all seem tall, too.
She doesn't coat EVERYTHING with sequins, she does seem to be toning some things down for the people who don't like that sort of thing. I've never given a rat's beehind what people thought of me, even when I was a plus-size person!! If YOU like it, and it makes you happy, that should be good enough. ;)

Just teasing, of course. I know nothing about those SG pants. And you are still cool.
It is beyond me how Q clothes, Q hosts or fellow posters, strangers in most cases, can evoke and provoke such strong negative feelings, vulgar language or even grudges. It is very strange, imo.
In clothing or personality, we make our own choices and each individual chooses that which he/she enjoys. Guess that is the lesson to learn in this thread about "QF sh*t" which has made Jean Bice, that "bit*h" a millionaire. Freedom of choice. More power to you, Jean.

My husband was walking through the room when I surfed over to QVC last night with Jeanne Bice and QF. First, he couldn't believe Jeanne and the headband--and then when he got over that, he couldn't believe the clothes. He was too funny, actually gasping, "Do people WEAR that???" I almost had to agree when they put up some vomit-green t-shirt with rhinestones and a winter applique. Taken alone, QF styles are fine--it's all the embellishment and strange colors that set me off!

Yes, SOMEBODY'S buying it, and that backs up what the Owner of a gift shoppe I once worked for said. She did all the buying for the shoppe, and she said ~~~ "People Will Buy Almost Anything". Some of the things that she bought, we all were convinced that they would never sell, and you know what ?? They flew out the door and we were all flabbergasted !! None of us would have touched them with a ten-foot pole, even with the hefty employee discount. She was right, and Jeanne Bice / Quacker Factory is testament to that. So are all the other atrocities out there for sale, on shopping networks, online, in stores ...... whoever said: One Man's Trash is Another Man's Treasure, knew people very well. To Each Her Own. You like it, you buy it. Enough people DON'T buy it, then some Buyer needs to rethink. If it makes you happy to have it and you can afford it, it's YOUR business, not anyone else's.

Yeah, I'm not a fan of actually wearing the QF line, but if someone likes it, hey, good for them. I must say I am totally intrigued by the ones that have the button covers, because, as cheesy as some designs might be, w/those button covers and consistent detail throughout, it seems to be a well thought out design. (Tooncey reminded me when mentioned the selling point of the zipper.) Hopefully the quality is good for all who own it. I think Ms. Bice is adorable, and she definitely has fans because when she does the live shows she draws a significant amount of people!

I don't think a 'guest' olantern or otherwise can PM. I might be wrong, but I doubt if that person you're referring to was talking about a guest.
I also think there are quite a few people from other BBs that would beg to differ with you about Olantern blasting them in PMs. She was known for her use of PMs.
Linda... Not sure if we're allowed to cut and paste from other BBs here, but if you do a Google search with Universal, Olantern and Transylvania, you'll find why she called herself olantern. The links no longer work as SUSA was taken down, but there is also a link that says 'Cached' and those still work.
I like some of the Quacker Factory stuff that is not overdone. There's a sweater that has stars on it that I've almost ordered a couple of times, but I haven't taken the plunge yet. I don't care for the button cover thingies, but a lot of people must because she keeps making them.
