Does anyone else think that those Affinity Diamonds on the Q are really unattractive?....The TSV for today looks like some cheap cluster ring, and it surely doesn't appear to be worth $600....

Thank the LORd and Pat Riley!
I always comment on something negative about the TSV so was trying to refrain from starting this thread. I am so glad you did.
That freakin' ring is just plain old fugly. It looks like diamond dust or fillings that have been repurposed and passed off as jewelry. I kept waiting to hear it was "eye clean" but he never even mentioned that. I have popped zits that have more sparkle and fire than the concoction.

It bothers me that QVC NEVER discusses the color category (G,H,I, etc) of those diamonds they sell. ShopNBC does and they are up front about it. I bought a couple of the less expensive Affinity Diamonds set in silver, and considering what I paid for them, I think I got my money's worth. I would not spend that kind of money on the TSV today because I've been watching on and off since midnight and no host addressed the color of the diamonds. A caller at midnight, in fact, asked Lisa Mason if QVC had an appraisal done of the TSV and Lisa was kind of short with her and said "no" but go ahead and have one done on your own if you want to. I did not care for that answer and I have the feeling that the Q DEFINITELY does not want us to know what those diamonds are REALLY worth.

I agree bichon...I didn't think much about discussing the grades, but you're absolutely right...they never do.
I wonder if it's because they are so small, Jenna has popped zits bigger than them? LOLOLOLOL
I also think it's wrong to rob 12 minutes of Silver Style to show something that is set in 14K gold. Not that there was anything of any interest to me at least in the show...(which is good and bad...)

I saw that HSN was selling diamonds in technibond! I wonder what kind of crappy diamonds those are.
They probably are what's left after industrial grade diamonds are harvested. The sawdust grade or something.

Not to be redundant, but I mentioned today's TSV on another thread.
Definately not worth $600, in fact, I was at the mall today, and the rings they had at J.C.Penney looked better than that for around the same price!!!
ShopNBC for the jewels girls! You WILL get your moneys worth there. Also, ACN--24 glorious hours a day, of nothing but jewelry, and some of that jewelry is from some lines on other networks, only way cheaper!
I wouldn't expect my Grandma to wear today's TSV.

I agree with you Lindalou ... I've been praising Jewelry television (ACN) and ShopNBC for a while now! You will pay MORE at ShopNBC, but the quality is there. I've seen MANY of the sam HSN and QVC items over on JTV. I like JTV cuz you can buy loose stones, and unlike the other channels ... they pretty much have EVERY stone you could ever want ... from the basic citrines and peridots to the tanzanites, tsavorites and alexandrites.
The QVC TSV was boring, but compared to their normal stuff ... Hallelujah! I know I'm probably alone here, but I'm sick to tears of the $150 dollar 1/4 carat rings. Give me a full carat or more ... give me BIGGER stones ... give me colored diamonds ... give me unique designs ... hearts and flowers make me gag!

You are not alone. I want something unique and big enough to catch the eye. Hearts are not for me and the Affinity diamonds look like dull chips.
If you have ever visited the islands in the Caribbean you will see stuff that will knock your eye out: mountings with set-in fiery opals, deep dark tanzanite and unusual designs. Most large cities have gorgeous jewelry shops and then there's Las SPAMSPAMSPAMSPAMSPAM. The last time I was there, there was one shop that only carried canary diamonds. I was glued to the window. QVC's stuff is a big zero.

A couple of months ago, I contacted Marybeth Roe via e-mail regarding the color and clarity of the diamonds used in the Affinity line. I tried a few items that she and Michael O'Connor (diamond representative) described on the air as "wonderful" and I was terribly disappointed when I received the jewelry items. Her response was that the clarity grade on Affinity diamonds is I-1 and I-2 and the color range is generally H-J. The color range isn't too bad, but the clarity is no better than Wal-Mart. I agree with others who positively comment on SHOP NBC. Their jewelry line is far far superior!
