I remember reading something about 8 years ago saying that David Venable made a pass at Dave King backstage. Since they are both good friends though Venable apologized and both left it at that. Did anyone ever hear about this?

Actually, what really happened is David made a pass at a King Crab Cake. The media got wind of it and blew it all out of proportion.

Seriously, I read this a long time ago. I forgot where I read it, but I'm wondering if it's true.

I mean is David Venable really gay? I know Dave King isn't cause he's married, so if this really happened I wonder what King's reaction was.

Dave King isn't married anymore; he's divorced.

And I'm not saying that either Dave is gay, but keep in mind that just because you're married doesn't mean you aren't gay. I have a very dear friend who was married, has a teenage daughter, but is now divorced and very happy with his long-time boyfriend.

Hmm, seems like the King crab cake is the most likely scenario, unless we're talking "Cottage Farms". (tee-hee)

I don't know, to me this story seemed believable when I read it. And I thought I'd share it with you guys here.

If Dave King isn't married anymore then maybe David Venable should make a pass again. ha ha

By the way I enjoy watching both hosts, I just think it's a funny story if it's true.

Dave King just said yesterday morning that his "wife" may be watching. And, he hasn't been there for eight years either. Maybe one, or a little over one year.

Elmo, are you referring to Dave James? He is married and has been there a little over a year. Dave King is the handsome African American host who has been there for quite a while and is divorced.

Both Venable and King were there about 8 years ago, so this story definitely has the possibility of being real.

Does anyone know if David Venable has a partner? Obviously he didn't 8 year ago, unless he was willing to cheat with Dave King. hehe

I don't think Hershey was implying anything about his being African-American. She just wanted to clarify things for Elmo, who was confusing him with Dave James.

Yeah, right, Samuel Z, that happened.

Gay people hit on hetereosexual people all the time and they especially do that in a work situation in which there would inevitably be a whole lot of awkardness, not to mention the possibility of sexual harrassment claims.

I don't know where you read this, but it's clearly a big bunch of hooey.

I don't understand the fascination with who's gay and who isn't. As long as they do their job who cares if the host is male, female or homosexual? What possible difference could it make?

None at all. That isn't the point of this thread though.

I'm trying to figure out if perhaps this was true or not, and if either Venable or King are gay that could explain it. This has nothing to do with people doing their jobs or being any less of a person cause they are gay or anything like that.

So I ask again, is David Venable gay?

You obviously don't know what your talking about. This stuff happens all the time, you make it seem as if this is totally impossible. Infact I worked at a company where this exact sort of thing happened. If someone really wants to make a pass at someone they are going to do it regardless of consequences.

Do your research and know what your talking about before you come on here criticizing others and sounding like a bafoon. Infact you probably made a pass at someone and got in trouble and just have sour grapes.

Dear Guyguest,

Did you know that one of the neat features of this board is that your IP number is visible to everyone so it's readily apparent when someone is posting under another name?

I thought not.

In the interest of full disclosure, as I said on another thread, I'm girlguest.

SamuelZ,
You could always log on to the Q web site, where you can e-mail the hosts and ask David V. directly since you want to know. This topic has been addressed in previous threads. No matter what his inclination, he's an okay host. Still will never enjoy the ol' yum-yum face though. Whoops, yes, welcome Pandagirl!

Yeah I agree.

Sorry GirlGuest but you obviously have no clue. If people lived in this dreamworld that you obviously live in there would be no premarital relations, no marital affairs, no children out of wedlock, etc. People make decisions based on their emotions sometimes. It's very possible that David Venable made a pass at Dave King. You may not believe it happened and that's fine, but don't act like it's impossible.

Huh? Point being? ANd why the fascination with D Venable's sexuality. No one here knows, really. Unless someone knows him personally ... .

On what basis does one decide that pandagirl lives in a "dreamworld"? There is certainly much extrapolation with no evidence in Bobguest's interpretation of girlguest's (pandagirl's) statement, IMO.

I don't usually respond to posts but I'm appalled at much of what I've read here. Many of you are stating your opinions as fact when in reality you have nothing factual to base those opinions on. While I don't care if David Venable is gay or not, I would bet money that no reliable news source ever printed anything about him making a pass at Dave King --- are you sure you weren't reading the National Enquirer? I do know many gay men and while I'm sure it happens occassionally, the vast majority of gay men out there would NEVER make a pass at a straight man. They aren't going to waste their time on men who would not be interested in their advances. That doesn't mean they don't ocassionally lust after a straight man, but most of them aren't acting those fantasies out. If you knew gay men, you would know that....On top of everything else, at least one of you is extremely rude ---- life is too short to spend it ridiculing others. That's my two cents worth....Thanks for listening....

People on this board are so naive. This happened, like one person said before it was in People magazine a long time ago. It wasn't a big deal, but it happened and it happens more then you realize. In fact a co-worker of mine was called into the managers office about a year ago for making a pass at a female employee here. This is life, it happens. David Venable is gay, that shouldn't surprise anyone. He found Dave King attractive and made a pass at him, they both have stayed great friends since then and Dave King accepted Venables apology. Both are great hosts and QVC is lucky to have them, but they are also human. Some people seem to think that just because they are QVC hosts that they are somehow above us regular folks.

Case closed.

Oh get over yourself lady. First of all if you think this is the only thread on this entire web site that would offend you I suggest you start reading other sections, you'll find this a children's book compared to other threads.

Secondly I read this entire thread right now, nobody is putting down anyone. This whole thing started because someone asked if this really happened, this section is here so we can discuss the hosts, it doesn't have to be all cut and dry topics. You higher than thou people like yourself are the ones who are getting all bent out of shape about it, yet almost every thread on this web site has someone's negative opinion about some host. There is even a section about different sexual fantasies people have about these hosts.

Find yourself a hobby instead of being the moral police.
