In medieval times (even before the Gregorian calendar, which we use now), double days (1/1, 2/2, 3/3, etc.) were considered to be very mystical and lucky--and it was especially wonderful to be born or married on one of them. It was the triples (6/6/66, 7/7/77, 8/8/88, etc.) that were super special, and often observed with spectacular celebrations, drunken orgies, competitive games and the like. It was said that Julius Caesar planned his most difficult battles to fall on a double day--and after he died and Pope Gregory added July (in honor of Julius Caesar) and August (in honor of Caesar Augustus) to the calendar, it was especially beneficial to be born or plan events for doubles in July (7/7) or August (8/8).

Interesting, Barbi. Thanks for that tidbit.
We'll have a 6/6/6, this year. May bring out witches. Or not. Lol.

This is going to sound strange, but I still remember one of Fergie's (Sarah Ferguson) daughters being born on 8/8/88, as I had just taken an 18-hour road trip home from vacation in Maine, and it was what was on when I turned on the TV. You'd think with the sleep deprivation I wouldn't have remembered it, but it just stuck (maybe because they talked about it being lucky).
