Lisa will be appearing on a special edition of ABC's Extreme Makeover where she will be done over by a team of consultants based upon the input of this BB.
Oh, I'm just kidding. But I do love to fan the flames of a good rumor!

Last summer, I believe, there was some talk about Lisa taking one of the national news anchor spots. I can't remember too much about it. Alzheimers probably! But she didn't get it or didn't want it. That might have been what the White Mountain guy was joking about??? Does anyone else remember this?

You're joking, right kitty? Or, are you talking about something like Inside Edition?
kittyinthecity
02-14-2006, 05:37 AM
QVCQ,
I truly don't remember. It might have been something like Inside Edition. She does have a nice voice and presence. If she toned down the make up I think she'd fit right in with the FOX guys. Can't you just see her with Shepard Smith? How about if she had to do hurricane coverage?! Now I would watch that!
LA-CAgirl3

In the wee hours of this AM, on HSN, I saw a new host who has an updated, longer hairstyle and more modern makeup and ... well, hopefully Lisa may see her sometime soon!!!

There will be lots of heartbroken fans if Lisa leaves the Q.
She has such a devoted following of people that love her so much.
I can see her as the host of some lame reality dating show or morning program. She would be a good replacement for Katie Couric, who needs to retire.
LA-CAgirl3
02-14-2006, 07:58 AM
Can she get a makeover first? Even if she stays at the Q? Puleez.
kittyinthecity
02-14-2006, 08:18 AM
I think with a new hair style and make up, she would make a good placement for Katie Kuric. Maybe if she did the hurricane coverage first..... total make over!
Jasmine46
02-14-2006, 08:25 AM
How about running her through a car wash in a convertible!
It would be entertaining to all her fans, male and female alike. It would get the highest ratings of any tv program ever!
p77, I'm just kidding, don't get upset!

I can't see Lisa R. EVER doing hurricane coverage, lol! She couldn't 'wing it', as they say, as far as hair and makeup go.
Jas, I could definitely see her doing the lame reality dating show, though.

I did hear last night on PM style that she is going to another place and a caller said "there can't be QVC without you" . I think Lisa is going to be history soon. She mentiones last week she is building a new place and went to buy some flooring materials. So maybe she'll land in New York. She could be one of the anchors for either NBC or ABC easily.... If all that is true, you go girl!!!! and don't forgt your Denim and company outfits
I think people here are giving Lisa R too much credit. Sure, she's a bright gal but, not news anchor material! A replacement for Katie Couric??? I don't think so!
Jasmine46
02-14-2006, 11:17 AM
I don't think I'm giving Lisa too much credit by suggesting her as a replacement for Katie Couric. Katie is not a journalist by any standards, and has been acting like a bimbo lately. Apparently she thinks it's cute for 50 year old women to act like 12 year olds. Lisa would add some humor and and fun to the Today show, and the other ladies there are fun and attractive, too.

Most news anchors today are just talking heads. Katie Couric is on the bottom rung. I also think Lisa would be better prepared for interviews than Katie Couris ever is.

The tension mounts is Lisa Robertson leaving or staying??????
Stay tuned to your local QVC channel to find out.
Or is she just doing a special for some other channel like the "Style Channel" for QVC??????

I'm not nuts about Katie Couric anymore either (though I used to like her, I agree that she's really gotten stuck on herself), but she is most definitely a journalist with a great education and a whole lot of experience. I don't think Lisa R. is leaving QVC, but she's not qualified for a network news job -- as I bet she'd be the first to admit. She could certainly be on something like The View, though.

Lisa R. is my favorite host. I just don't know if she could make it in NYC on some big show (news or otherwise). She's funny and good @ what she does, but it seems as though network TV is more interested in 20-something's. I also wonder if Lisa would like gotten an up-dated look with her hair and make-up. Her "look" wouldn't fly on NBC.

Just wondering. What do you think she should do to up-date her look, besides taking off those fake caterpillers?
AussieMrs
02-14-2006, 04:16 PM
Oh, Curvi, you're too funny!
There is absolutely no way that if Lisa were leaving they'd let her talk about it, unless she had announced it formally. As far as I know, she hasn't. I'm sure if she had, one of us on the board would have heard it. I mean, besides us regulars, there are tons of people who read the boards.

Missy,
I totally agree. Think Lisa has a pretty darn good situation at the Q, and she may as well stay there.

Linda - It's the 1988 look that Lisa needs to reckon with. My husband thinks she sure can't wear the banner "40 is the new 30" due to her dated look. At any rate, I do think she's the best on QVC. I see her as a "salesperson", so I don't know if I could see her on some network show yakking with Ashton Kutcher about his life with Demi.
Linda Lou
02-14-2006, 05:04 PM
Jennifer,
Hmm, well I can see why others like her, but I seem drawn to the likes of Lisa M or MBR, maybe Rick when I wanna laugh. Honestly, think the whole "40 being the new 30" thing is just something an aging population is inventing to make ourselves feel better about aging! LOL!
Personally, think Lisa R. should stick with the darker hair, get a cute, funky haircut, and lose the lashes. And lip liner, of course.

You may not like Couric and she has been known for her diva-tude lately, but she most definitely is a journalist. There is no way Lisa R could do her job but she could be another Melissa Rivers.
Katie Couric began her career as a desk assistant for the ABC News bureau in her native Washington, D.C. in 1979.
From 1984 to 1986, Couric was a general-assignment reporter at NBC’s WTVJ station in Miami, FL.
In 1980, Katie Couric joined CNN as an assignment editor. Katie moved to Atlanta as an associate producer and later became the producer of a two-hour news and information program before eventually becoming a political correspondent.
From 1987 to 1989, Katie Couric was a general-assignment reporter at WRC-TV, the NBC Television Station in Washington, D.C. While there, Katie won an Emmy and an Associated Press Award for her work.
Katie Couric has been co-anchor of "Today" since April 5, 1991. She joined the program in June 1990 as its first national correspondent and then served as substitute co-anchor from February 1991 until becoming permanent co-anchor. Katie has also been a contributing anchor for "Dateline NBC" since 1992.

That's the Katie Couric I know. I admit I haven't watched The Today Show in years, not since my schedule changed. I wasn't aware of how bimbo-like she's become. I was well aware of all the experience she has, none of which Lisa R can hold a candle to.

I'm a UVa grad, too, and she is very, very respected there. An indication of just how smart she is that she had one of the very coveted rooms "on the lawn" behind the Rotunda. Those rooms are highly prized and are only given to the very best and brightest at the University. It's a real mark of achievement.

White Mountain guy may have been joking...but what made him joke about that? Seriously, maybe Lisa will appear on another channel and not be leaving QVC. Maybe a reality series, PBS station, local Philly channel or even subbing for someone who is going on vacation. Lisa did say they dont sell shoes...so it's not a shopping channel and she'd have to wait a year if she did leave QVC. I guess we'll find out soon enough.

Hi,
Still unregistered, will register after this post, I'm the one who started the Lisa Sheila "thing" thread and you all were kind and did not bite so I'll stick around.
But I must write of my distress: Sheila has broken into daytime, where will it end, where will it end? Antoinella is doing great and has kids at home, can't imagine late night work is her cup of tea!
I feel it in my bones, something is up with Lisa and the Q, don't think the White Mountain clog guy was just kidding, by the way, I live in WM clogs, love love love them. (Sorry, couldn't help myself.)
So, I think I'll register under a name now, "I intensly dislike Sheila Johnson" is probably a tad long, as is "I watch too much QVC" or "Do I need to go into analysis to uncover why Sheila Johnson's behavior bothers me so much?" Nope, those are all just too long such a quandry.
Come on in, Unregistered or Sheila Sux or whatever your new identity will be!
Pick your board name carefully, it will have to last you forever! In retrospect, I wish I had chosen "Cuddles" myself.

no analysis needed, or maybe you do and we can get a group rate
i consider myself to be fairly rational, but she just irritates the hell out of me!
she's phony, she's pushy, she apparently doesn't learn from her mistakes and worst of all she's stupid!

I haven't seen her since Monday night pm style......she has been gone a lot lately......and someone on the show with her the other night said something to the effect of "can I go with you to that other show you are doing?".......I hope she isn't leaving. I won't watch anymore.
She has been gone a lot lately. And the White Mountain guy did make a comment about "the other show you are doing".........I hope not, I won't watch QVC without Lisa Robertson. She makes the show for me.

Very weak benches indeed. It's pretty much a joke IMO for Katie Couric to be hosting the evening news. But she is a die hard liberal so she should fit in very well at CBS.
If Lisa were to go to a news broadcast, I think it would have to be something like Fox News. She's too attractive for the other networks. She has the chest for Fox News. And she has conservative values.
I also think Lisa would be too much for Shep. He had better just stick to flirting with "Skinny".
Gretchen Carlson is on Fox News. She was previously on CBS news. She was a former Miss America (although, how she won is beyond me). I think Lisa would do a much better job than she does.
-----------
Heirs to the Throne?
By J. Max Robins -- Broadcasting & Cable, 2/20/2006
Another story making the rounds is that NBC lawyers have told Couric's
agent, CAA's Alan Berger, “not to put us through hoops” in the hopes of
getting NBC to pony up more if Couric doesn't really plan to stay.
NBC's decision to tap Nightly News anchor Brian Williams to host the
Winter Olympics ceremonies only further cemented the probability that
“CBS Evening News with Katie Couric” will be a reality come September.
The news-talent speculation game is nothing new. But with talk of who
might succeed Couric already rampant, it's clear that the bench of
big-name players is shallow.
Among the names bandied about, Weekend Today anchor Campbell Brown,
Dateline: NBC co-anchor Ann Curry, and MSNBC anchor Natalie Morales all
seem, at best, long-shots. Indeed, corridor conversation at the National
Association of Television Programming Executives confab in Las SPAMSPAMSPAMSPAMSPAM
last month had it that the network was looking outside for Couric's
replacement.
Quick on the heels of that buzz, former ABC News broadcaster Meredith
Vieira's name was floated as being high on NBC's wish list. Vieira did
little to dispel those rumors in interviews.
Her agent, Michael Glantz, president of Headline Management, joked to
reporters that anyone writing about the speculation should feel free to
give NBC his number. (Vieira's contract with ABC for The View and Who
Wants To Be a Millionaire is coming due, so she'll likely enjoy some
public flirting.)
Vieira came close to making a similar move in 2002 when CBS News was
backing up the Brinks truck to get her to come aboard. Instead, she
renegotiated a lucrative deal for The View and signed on as host of the
syndicated version of Millionaire.
Add to that her spots for Bayer Aspirin, and it's doubtful she'll want
to leave a gig that brings her millions and requires none of the heavy
lifting that Today would demand.
Vieira is an extremely talented broadcaster, but she's been out of the
news business since departing ABC News in the mid '90s. That she tops
the list of unlikely dream candidates for replacing Couric only
illustrates how little A-list talent there is in the industry.
Network executives say they have no choice but to pursue, checkbooks in
hand, the few household names who will actually draw eyeballs to screens.
New CBS News President Sean McManus' recent comments that its flagship
newscast needed a “prominent” name underscores the mindset that
dominates the news arena.
But maybe that conventional wisdom needs a once over. Remember, when
Katie Couric started on Today, she stepped virtually out of nowhere into
a show that was rife with discord after Jane Pauley's replacement,
Deborah Norville, was ditched amidst a public-relations disaster.
Today co-host Matt Lauer, whose popularity at this point may exceed
Couric's, was a little-known local-news guy when he joined the NBC
family in 1994.
If Couric were to skate, NBC might consider doing what it did out of
desperation nine years ago: take a relative no-name with a spark of
reportorial acumen and the charisma to connect with viewers and promote
the hell out of her.
With all the talk inside NBC—and out—you'd think it was a done deal that
Today show host Katie Couric will bolt the network for the anchor chair
at the CBS Evening News. Word inside 30 Rock is that she's already had
“hypothetical what if” conversations with key NBC News staffers about
coming along for the ride if she leaves the network when her contract is
up in May.
