Did you ever get "took" ? I have. The coiling hose would be great but don't attach your g.d. sprinkler to it, because once you set it on your lawn, it follows you back to your water spout. Any of the "Flocker" or "icing" products. Imagine my surprise when they turned out to be plain old mousse.
The Misty Mate---which drenched you and caused your thin summer frock to become totally see-through...but it was gradual, so you had lots of opportunities for total humiliation.
The tempered glass cutting boards, while bacteria resistant, also have an impressive tendency to totally dull your good knife blades.
Nick Chavez's volumizing hairspray which absolutely reeks of his "floral" botanical fragrance...so much so that it causes you and those in your vicinity to develop stinging, watery eyes. You could smell this stuff 30 feet away and it's oppressive.

Those cooly things that you submerge in water and then put around your neck? They are slimey!! Yuck!! And the slime does not go away. They were sold in a pak of 6 with different color fabrics, I think from HSN.

The Suzanne Somers necklace that fell apart a week after the 30 day return period was up. It was strung on the cheesiest string I've ever seen. Her airbrush foundation was also terrible. It was like orange goop and it was supposed to be the extra light shade.

I have those 6 things that go around your neck also. They were called Cool something. I purchased mine from QVC. Those beads inside once they come out of the freezer and cool down feel like mush against the skin. I thought they would be neat for my husbands lawn service crew.
I also purchased some type of furniture polish a couple of years ago that was suppose to give old furnish a restored look. It only made it look waxy.

I'm with you on the Misty Mate. Definately the potential to host your very own wet tee-shirt contest.
Does anyone remember those stupid kits where you could goldplate your sterling? Whatta mess! It stunk really bad, and for the most part the color was very inconsistent. I think I threw out ever piece of silver I tried and ruined. There's a reason why these products aren't on anymore, so I can't be the only one.

Those doggone Roly-kits were a royal pain! You had to have plenty of table and/or floor space to roll it out just to get something out of it.

Most of the food I've ordered from QVC has really sucked.
All those Nick Chavez products are horrible. Doesn't anyone notice the models? The before pictures have the models with just washed bone straight hair. But, the live models have already had their styles done and all he does is put the Flocker on and fluff. I want him to take a model who didn't already have a basic curl and do his magic with the Flocker. It won't work.
Then there's the guy who sells the plate that takes tarnish off silver. Guess what? You don't need to buy that. All you need is a glass baking dish, aluminum foil, baking soda and water. It does the same thing as the expensive plate.
Don't any of you think that those call ins from satisfied customers are put on jobs? Maybe their employees of QVC who call in to say how wonderful a product is?

I fell for that tarnish remover, too. I also fell for a pan that was supposed to defrost meat in 15 mins. It didn't work.

not too long ago i purchased a set of 3 'wet em and wipe' cloths that were suppose to leave tv screens, mirrors etc sparkly bright and streak free. my ass. the cloths left dust streeks and smears across everything i used them on. i'm going back to my old stand by paper towels and windex.

try the paper towels made with blue thread in it. Some magical thing makes them lint free. I think they are especially for glass. I LOVE them.
My most disapointing products, steam cleaner, hydracoil hose and philosophy Falling in Love fragrance and the home frangrances that were a tsv a month ago or so with the long reeds in a jar. They smell awfull.
on the other hand I have a silver bracelet I love, sheets that are great, 500 thread count is great! Some of the clothes I have are winners, I love some of the breezie bras but the sizing is crazy and I have to send about every other style back.

most of the jewelry is very poor quality. i keep buying some of it because it is pretty, but its always smaller than you pictured, and much flimsier. i bought a bun and thigh rocker a few years ago, and it didnt have the right size bolts.. needless to say its still sitting up in the attic somewhere. .my parents love me..heh.. i bought a pair of real birkis and had to return them, they didnt fit my size 11 feet even tho they said size 11. well i'm trying hard to find something i absolutely regretted.. most of the stuff you guys mentioned my parents have tried, and yes they sucked, lol but thank goodness they dont sell them anymore!

This is my one and only purchase (it was a regret so that is why it was my only)... it was the paint stick. This was a good 10-12 years ago. I was doing lots of painting and kept watching the demos and finally decided to order it. It was pretty decent as far as actually painting went. It did hold a lot more paint than a regular roller and you could cover larger areas without re applying it. The ISSUES were mainly with the clean up. On tv of course they showed it simple 1-2-3 and complete. I could not get the damn thing cleaned well. I ended up doing it in my jacuzzi tub (you needed a good supply of water and a place to keep flushing it out). Talk about awkward.
And in their demos, of course, you could go very close to edges and just needed minimal filling in. Not in my reality!!!
anyone remember what I am talking about? It even had that guy with the dark hair as the vendor- the one who does 98% of infomercials...

I'm glad I'm not the only one who hates those god-awful bras. I always hear the callers rave about how comfortable they are & I wonder what hallucinogen they are on to think they are even tolerable, much less comfortable.

I have a paint stick- I love it. My husband will not use it, we actually have had a few fights about the damn paint stick. it is wonderful if you are painting a ceiling. I think I cleaned it outside with the hose. About those breezies- WHY? I have 2 that are the best most comfortable bras EVER and have sent back 3. WHF? I bought a stan herman robe that split in the back- it was also very very linty and the cute zipper pull broke in the first washing. The annoying thing about this is I loved having a warm fluffy 3/4/ sleeved robe with pockets. Maybe I was too active with it- i have a 4 year old and play on the floor LOTS- I dont know. it really pissed me off to send it back and I did demand to be rembursed for shipping on that one!

Broken zippers! I have 2 Sports Savvy outfits that the zipper broke on after the first washing! I normally love SS & have no problems with that line, but I couldn't believe they broke on 2 separate outfits. I think QVC is getting cheap in some areas.

I also split a Stan Herman robe right down the front! Sent that back right away. I just sat the floor to pet my cat and it split!

Doesn't the Q stand for quality? I hope they get lots of returns when they skimp on the details. I don't buy their clothes because they look cheesy even on TV.

Oh! Yes, I forgot about those reed diffusers. Yucky yucky yucky. It came as a pack of 2, so I'm trying to figure out who would NOT be offended if I gave them the one I didn't open.
Those coiling hoses are okay 1 time. Every try to re-coil one after water has been through it? I couldn't figure out how to store the sucker until last fall when I coiled it around a bungee cord and hung both ends of the bungee on a metal shelf in the garage.

We have a coiling hose that works great. We bought it at Home Depot, so the QVC one must be inferior or something. It coils perfectly and hides behind a boulder by the front of the house.

I'm bumping this thread bc I don't know if what I have to say warrants a totally new thread (but ice cream does, and always will!)...
I was just flipping channels and saw Jill hosting a cooking show. One vendor just pulled a cake from a pan and not a crumb fell from the cake. It fell out of the pan perfectly! Now, I know about good pans and effective non-stick, but I KNOW they MUST prep the food prior to airing to avoid any mishaps. I don't mind this, but it kind of bugs me. Because they are trying to show us how non stick something is, yet the item they are showing us was actually pre-prepped.

I don't know if that's true, Kitty. I mentioned on another thread that I was watching a show about ceramic cookware and the vendor was bragging that it was non-stick. Then she turned it over and a big hunk of cake stuck to the bottom. Then she very cleverly switched to talking about how easy it is to clean, LOL. Of course, after that mishap, they may have prepped to avoid such disasters in the future. The cooking shows are the ones most prone to disasters.

Ah, okay then maybe I will stop my griping. I just couldn't believe how there wasn't a crumb left on that pan and at that moment I was so annoyed! I'm trying to remember if I have seen mishaps happen on QVC, but I can't recall. I DEF recall the mishaps happening many times on HSN, but that is not a surprise.

I saw Bob Bowesox' pot holder catch on fire once. And Mary Beth got the giggles when something she was making wouldn't thicken. I've seen the burners on the stove get too hot or not come on at all. The only reason I watch those boring shows is in hopes of a disaster. LOL. My bad.

I too have the paint stick from about 10 - 12 years ago. Never used it!
My Stan Herman robe also split - interesting to hear that I'm not the only one.
Riddex - something you plugged into the wall and it kept rodents, bugs, and such away. Right. My neighborhood was still under construction when I got those, and I had all kinds of critters in the garage.
Susan Graver peachskin anything. Shredded something awful.
Some air cleaner, can't even tell you who made it now. It was a joke. It went in the garbage along time ago.
Every single gold bracelet that I bought is broken.
I'm sure that there is much more, but I rarely purchase from the Q anymore, so my memory is fading.

I don't buy the smaller jewelry anymore. I bought a blue topaz ring a couple years ago, the center stone was crooked, looked horrible. Sent it back for an exchange ... the second one was the same way ... could have been the same one for all I know, but it went back.
My Mom has had bad luck with the bracelets too. She bought one of those jade link bracelets, it broke the second time she wore it.
I have cooks essentials cookware ... stuff sticks ALL the time! lol ... but I think any cookware will be that way after a while ...
I've never kept anything purchased from HSN ... it all went back for being CRAP (but to be fair, it was all jewelry).

Only gold bracelets I will buy is EternaGold so I can send them back when they break or get scratched and dented. (And they do and I have)
Or ShopNBC gold bracelets with the additional warranty. (Their jewelry is better quality, at least what I have bought)

I've bought gold bracelets from QVC, but the really heavy higher dollar items ... haven't had any problem with them (knock on wood).
I do agree that the stuff at ShopNBC is better quality. It better be at the prices they are charging!

Man, ShopNBC has shown some really HUGE pieces, have n'tthey? I'm afraid some are so heavy I couldn't lift my wrist, but I love watching them. On their Gold blow-out in Dec-Jan ?, I bought a pretty large gold woven bracelet for $365.00 that retailed around $800.00 and I know I couldn't touch it in jewelry stores for that. Sigh... I love gold.

kittyinthecity,
I've got an Eternagold bracelet that I've had for over 6 years. I was wearing it last week and noticed there was a dent in it. Well, it's a bit of a dilemma for me to send it back because it was a gift and I don't have the receipt. With it being over 6 years ago, I don't think the person who gave it to me will have the receipt either.
Have you ever had to send anything back that you don't have the receipt for? It does have the little "EG" stamped on the clasp, so I'm sure they would know it's theirs.
kittyinthecity
04-04-2006, 02:05 PM
I have only returned items with the receipts. You could probably call QVC and the get the 800 number for EternaGold (Aurafin Corp) and check with them first. I would think since it has the EG stamp they should replace it.

Girlygirl! Thank you Thank you! You have vindicated me! Susan Graver peachskin shredding. I have several of her peachskin pants because she made petites and always the seams by the pockets would rip. I thought it was just me and that I was just a brute to my clothes. Thank you again.

Thanks! Sometimes my cats will get this look that reminds me of the cruise line commercial where the executive is in his office & says "This is just a temporary exile." I am sure that they believe no matter how much I fawn & dote on them, it is never enough for "godlike royalty". :-)

When the Q still had T-Fal my Mom and I ordered a set, the "non stick" started peeling off and getting into the food; after having it for under a year.....Neither company wanted to honor the warranty, that was always talked about when T-Fal was presented...... I'm guessing others had problems with T-Fal too, it disappeared rather quickly and quietly; then the Q's Cooks Essentials line suddenly appeared.....
There was also an item that Bob Vila was hawking on the Q, it was supposed to remove clogs in sinks and toilets....In reality it was a piece of crap, and made me think alot less of Bob Vila and anyone or anything else he associates with....
I also regret purchasing anything made by Philosophy!!!!

Steam cleaner which is too cumbersome to get out & use when a Lysol or Clorox Wipe will achieve the same result.
Falling In Love. I need to just throw it all away.
Dumb gadgets bought on impulse which are quite useless. Example: Knife with it's own cutting board attached. What was I thinking? Lol.

(sheepish grin) I, too, was suckered into buying the blade/cutting board combo. I thought it would be good to use to cut flower stems. HA! What a piece of crap. I am cleaning out my drawers/closets/house this spring, & Goodwill will have probably half a truck of useless junk from me alone.
