Does anyone here buy this line of jewelry? When I joined QVC in 1990 they were buying jewelry from the reservations and it was quality stuff and very traditional. HSN was doing the same. The jewelry was authentic, heavy and really beautiful. I bought quite a bit. That was when the game show host (senior moment again!) was bringing it to HSN. Bob something. Anyway, I was watching the Carolyn show last night with Lisa Robertson (who looked very nice) and some of the jewelry was so beyond being gaudy and plastic looking I don't see why people would buy it. I know many people do not like the traditional southwest native american look and prefer the modernized version and many indians are now making it that way, but Carolyn's jewelry is so expensive and I have ordered a couple of pieces a few years back and returned it. I haven't seen Carolyn in a few months but couldn't help wondering if she was pregnant (kept waiting for a caller to congratulate her) or if she has just gained some weight. She normally wears tight clothing, but she had her shirt out and kept pulling it down the way those of us who feel a little "puffier" than usual do. She seems like a very nice person, but I just can't appreciate her jewelry.

Hi Nevada Gal,
I have never tried Sincerely Southwest jewelry either. I do like turquoise and the last few pieces I have ordered came from Silvertribe.com. They are a company from AZ that sells on eBay. Their jewelry is like you said, very heavy and well made. It is not cheap either, but... sigh... those days may be over.

Hi Kitty, OK now I'm off to check Silvertribe out! I have bought a lot off ebay in the past (have to be real careful on there as you know) and was never disappointed. Most was old pawn. I just like the way it feels and the fact it was made by hand by someone who took pride in his/her work. I have a concho belt I bought out of pawn in the 70's (when I had a waist -lol) that is all mother of pearl instead of turquoise. One site I bought from on ebay was Bianca (in NM) and she was also on Yahoo. All the jewelry was signed. Sometimes HSN has an indian woman on with beautiful reservation jewelry but I haven't seen her in awhile. I think she was Zuni.
I don't think Carolyn is pregnant. She once mentioned that a daughter was going to be studying in Hungary this year so, she's probably past the childbearing age.

Hi Nevada gal! Welcome to the BB! I have been away for a bit but am always happy to see new people join. Makes the BB community more interesting.
The SSW is available at various Steinmart's and Dillard's around the greater Cleveland, Ohio area. I think the quality has gone downhill. I have a few older pieces and their heft was enough to wack a small yard bird. I bought one piece last year and returned it as it was kind of dull in appearance. I love Southwest jewelry and am always bummed when the quality starts tanking.

... sigh ... Nevadagal has already left us, couldn't take all the in-fighting that is going on! :-( She only reads, no longer posts. MAYBE, if we make it interesting enough she will come back! :-)

Some time back I purchased a SS turquoise bracelet. It arrived with large chips out of two stones!! Because of the damage they refunded the postage to return it. I would not order anything from that line again.

I recently ordered a Roderick Tenorio cuff bracelet (turquoise and sterling)--very heavy and very unusual. The turquoise is off center and the silver cuff has pretty and unusual markings on it. I agree--I don't care for Carolyn's items.
