View Full Version : OT: HSN TS Perlier - is it as good as they say?

I am really tempted to try this in the rice, but would like to know if any of you have tried it or the olive oil product and do you like it? I have watched them present their products for years, but this presentation seems like a good buy. The reviews on HSN are all positive. Thanks!! Oh, I would have addressed this on the HSN BB, but didn't think that was a good idea....

Good choice staying away from the HSN board! I haven't tried the olive oil collection, but I have used the honey line and the green tea line. They are excellent quality and have a much more subtle scent than a lot of the natural lines such as Bath & Body works.

Nevada Gal, I have tried both and do think that today's TSV is a good deal. I would recommend the rice. I did not like the smell of the olive oil products (although they are very hydrating) because they smelled very masculine to me - heavily of pine and with a very strong scent - and reminded me of Old Spice. The rice products have a much milder and less noticeable smell and do not seem masculine to me. I returned the one olive oil product I ever purchased from the Perlier/Elariia line. Again, the product worked well in terms of moisturization, but I knew I'd never live with that smell.

By they way, I watch the shows because I really enjoy Skip and Amanda's presentations. Not high pressure at all, and Skip is very funny IMO.

Thanks Jasmine. That's what I was looking for. The reviews on HSN on the different product pages kept comparing the scent of the olive line as much nicer than the other olive products (Mrs. Stallone's I would imagine) offered on the network. Much lighter. I just ordered the rice. I have tried their other line which is for pets and loved the green tea pet shampoo and rinse. The vanilla was nice as well, but the cleaning cloths were a waste of money. Huggies work just as well to clean a pet's face or backside.

Yes, that's why I watch as well. The younger brother (hope that's right) that sells the pet line is a hoot also. Amanda looks REALLY good and I get a kick out of Skip talking about his using the products. They also come across like they are very proud of their products and they care about the customers. One lady had an expired coupon and they told her to leave her number and they would try to help her. I doubt that would have happened with other vendors. I appreciate your comments on the olive line. I have severe allergy/asthma problems and the thought of using olive is scary when just the trees trigger an attack. Olive trees can no longer be grown in AZ where I lived so that says something! Plus, I don't want to smell like either pine or Old Spice.

Good Choice, the rice is excellant, very fresh and not a heavy fragrence.
I got the rice last year and I really liked it...

Hope you enjoy it as I did.

I'm really glad you ordered the rice choice, N.G. It is a very good value indeed. I've read reviews that the body butter (as opposed to the body cream) that is included is a bit heavy in texture, but there are equally as many reviews that like it. On HSN you can cancel til midnight so maybe you'd like to peruse some of the reviews about the body butter. I still think you will be very happy with your purchase. If you do keep it, let us know what you think!

You are welcome - please do report back. By the way, the Perlier liquid soaps are wonderful! You will love that item.

For future reference, another item I sent back was the hemp. Ugh - awful smell - it made me sneeze and was even much stronger than the olive oil.
Love the smell of the Double Latte - smells like mild baby powder - just very clean and delicate and mild.

The problem w/ ordering from TV is that you can't smell the fragrances. TJ Maxx and Marshall's carry Perlier products. It helps to go there to smell them first, although they don't have most of the variety that HSN sells. For example, I've never seen the hemp or olive products there.

I definitely will. OMG, I started laughing when I read they have a product made from hemp. If it smells anything like what I smoked back in the day, I know I wouldn't wear it!! lol Thanks for the info on the stores. I've just moved here, but I'll find out where they are.

I prefer the Dead Sea Minerals line to Perlier. The Body Shoppe also has a nice line of body butters. The Perlier scents just don't seem authentic to me. I tried the jasmine which they raved over and it was nothing special. I didn't like the honey scents at all.

Nevada Gal,
I was just out doing errands and lo and behold, passed a TJ Maxx. So I decided to pop in and see what Perlier and spring handbags they had. It's a great place to buy handbags by the way - saw lots of Stone Mt. ones for in the $30's. Anyway, I purchased an 8.4 oz. White Almond soft soap (same size they sell on HSN) and a shampoo bottle (also same size they sell on HSN) each for $3.99. The shampoos on HSN run two for $19.95 plus shipping and for some tax also. Can't beat the Perlier prices at T.J. Maxx. The downside is that I'm sure people open the bottle lids to sniff the fragrances.

Hershey: Thank you for the update. There are several TJ Maxx in the Las SPAMSPAMSPAMSPAMSPAM area and none are close to me. We are way up north where the city is growing, BUT in bringing up the maps I found that there is a BARE ESCENTUALS store close to one of the TJ's so that is reason enough to plan a trip in the next week or so. I have never been in a BE store nor a TJM and I have the feeling I may be in trouble in either one! I'll be sure to report on my findings. Happy dance, happy dance, I'm going shopping.

Bookie, you are welcome. As I said above, the downside is that you never know what they'll have - it's very hit or miss. There were two WA shampoo bottles and only one of the WA liquid soaps (which I bought). There was a lot of pink peony (can't stand it - too strong a floral smell) and as usual a lot of the honey Perlier. I hope you find some WA at the TJ's you go to.

Marshall's carries Perlier, too. I think TJ Maxx and Marshall's are owned by the same co. One of them also owns Home Goods, a great place to shop for tableware, better brands of pots and pans, etc.

TJ Maxx amd Marshalls are two of my favorite stores. Not only can you get great prices on the Perlier and other lines of bath products, but some designer label clothing, and Royal Albert china (I collect it) as well. I never order Carole Hochman from QVC. Can get it for much less there, and it usually gets marked down season to season.

I tried the Perlier shampoo this a.m. and would not recommend it, nor would I buy it again. I'm glad I didn't pay HSN prices for it. Although it did leave my hair soft, it didn't lather up much at all, and my hair feels frizzy, esp. on the ends. It doesn't usually. They had two bottles of the White Almond shampoo at TJ's and I'm glad I only bought one of them. I'll use it up of course, but wouldn't buy another Perlier shampoo. I still like the soft soaps a lot though.

If I get a shampoo I don't care for, I use it to wash cashmere or silk or any other natural fibers, or to clean makeup brushes. If it really sucks, shampoo makes an excellent car wash that doesn't strip off the wax!

This shampoo isn't sooooooooo bad that I won't be using up the remainder of it on my hair. I just wouldn't buy it again and wouldn't recommend it.
I will not be using it on my car or brushes.

I just LOVE treasure hunting at Marshalls and TJ Maxx! I try and try at Ross, but they seem to carry mostly junk! How about Tuesday Morning? Anybody ever go there?!? LOVE the commercials with Lauren Bacall ...

I love treasures! Bought my Dad a Gucci watch at TJ for under $300 last summer. Have also found many great deals on Ralph Lauren (suede shirt jacket with belted waist for $49!!!).

Bumping an old thread.

It's Perlier's 10th anniv. on HSN. Beginning Thurs. at midnight there's a TSV. I know it's going to involve fruit "flavors" and Skip has already mentioned cherry and peach, but I'm not sure what it is. I recently ordered Clementine bath and shower gel from them and I like it very much. I think Clementine is going to be one of the TSV choices also. It really smells like clementines, a very light - not strong - orange smell, very refreshing.

By the way, Skip and Amanda are talking about Lorenzo being on The Bachelor, and when they mention it it's fun!

Perlier is on at 5:00 pm today. Here is the schedule over the next couple of days:

11/02 12:00am Italian Bath & Body 10th Anniversary Bobbi Ray Carter

11/02 1:00am Italian Bath & Body 10th Anniversary Bobbi Ray Carter

Honestly, I have never been impressed with their products. I have tried the Honey Hand Lotion and some of the shower gels and the scent is barely there. Some people may like it that way but I prefer something with more oomph. The Body Shoppe has nice scents and they make a cranberry bath gel and assortments at Christmas that are absolutely delicious. They used to make a wonderful pink grapefruit soap and gel, too, but they have discontinued it, unfortunately.

Perlier is wonderful. Their scents are soft and the softening of the skin is the best. I love snow drops and white almond, and just about all the rest of them. I was buying white almond way before they were ever on TV. The price can't be beat. Give it a try. You can always return it. But you won't.

Dakotadog, I understand your concern about buying scents over TV. Much as I love Perlier and the Elariia line even better, I have sent back some scents I didn't like. That being said, the quality of the products is way, way better than the products at Bath and Body Works.

Yes, I know. They do not carry Elariia to my knowledge, and their selections of Perlier are very poor - just a few "flavors." They are much cheaper and with no S&H but, again, the seletion is usually very poor and people have opened and sniffed the containers, which turns me off, esp. for products I'd use on my body.

The TS is good. A complaint about Lynn Murphy. One of the fruit choices in the TS is grapefruit and Lynn keeps calling it lemon. You'd think the host could at least be prepared about what the TS is. And, even after Skip corrected her once very nicely by naming the flavors and Lynn said "oh, that's grapefruit not lemon" she STILL keeps calling it lemon. What a doofus.
I ordered the TS in the new cherry flavor which I'd like to try and the banana, also a new flavor for Perlier. The TS is only $22.90 (granted the containers are pretty small) BUT because you get a $10 gift certificate - not coupon - enclosed, it really ends up being only $12.90. The gift certificate may be used on any HSN product, even a future TS. TS number is 197-405:

Pink, I hope you like it. Please let us know. I've gotten a small size of the grapefruit in a kit before and I liked it very much.

Lynn was told multiple times by Skip that it was grapefruit and not lemon, yet she never "got it" and kept mis-identifying it. Ugh! Wouldn't you think it's part of the hosts' job to be familiar with what's in a TS???

Hershey, I'm still holding onto the Dark Chocolate and Chocolate-Vanilla lotions and body balms, and every time I see them I think of you! I'll wait and see if I need them for Christmas gifts; if not, I'll crack them open for myself after the holidays. Or at least the Dark Chocolate, on your recommendation; after hearing your description, the other may end up on eBay.

I saw one of those kits where you get a bunch of 1oz sizes and it seems like it would be good to try. Plus, HSN emailed me to give me a 15% off code to get me back. They said they missed me. lol
