I hope you ended up with more than just a ring if your ex was a mean old snake!
Thank you, Mysty. *taking a bow* You can catch my act at the local Sanitorium on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Please bring a nail file.

Don't worry I'll save you!
Bookie, why did you have a bad time on the Q bb? Were they mean to you? Don't worry sweetie that will never happen to you here! ;-) That's not what we're all about. We're just a bunch of nice gals that have something in common and like to talk about it... jewelry & gemstones. No meanys allowed!

oddly enough, no one was mean to me personally
the perverts, misogynists, assaults by literary spam,bb police and constant arguing, finally just wore me down to the point that it was like work just reading the posts
when i first joined, there were since-departed posters who kept things going, in a good way
lots of fun, and the highest compliment we paid was that we 'peed a little' from laughing so hard
now it's not much fun there, although some of the awol posters have returned
i just removed myself from the bb...

Yeah, Hellfire, a tornado watch! Do you ever recall a tornado here before? I don't. YIKES is right! It's lookin' pretty gloomy outside. Figures. It was so nice out yesterday... they're saying SNOW by the end of the week! Forget the file, I'm comin' with ya! LOL

Bookie, the trick I learned is that as soon as I realize it's a nasty post or thread, I'm out of there. I learned it's impossible to reason, fight back or get them to stop. So now I ignore 99% of what any troll registered or unregistered has to say. Makes my time here much more enjoyable:)

Bookie!
I MUST have a Ceylon Sapphire! First Garnet, now you! I just posted yesterday that I bought a stone called Kyanite from ShopNBC, set in platinum over sterling, and it does look just like Ceylon. But I really want the real thing! Maybe even a nice pink sapphire. I WILL get one.

i love Ceylon sapphires, and i love pink, too
i have a cool enhancer that is a pink cabochon cut sapphire, surrouned by diamonds
it's in an unusual style; kind of an arrowhead shape, pointing down, but refined, and not too big
i want more pink sapphires, but living gets in the way of wants, sometime
i'll get them, eventually

Oh, Garnet,
I will look for that item #. Sorry about that. Did you look under the NYC11 Chuck Clemancy collection? They only sell 2 rings in the Kyanite stone. I will check site as well. Coulda sold out. It was very popular. I know if you love Ceylon, you would def love Kyanite! They do sell it on JTV, but in gold, if you want to look it up there. Considerably more expensive however.

Thanks Linda, I checked under Chuck and the NYC11 and found nothing. Must be it sold out :( I was so anxious to see it because you know my love of Ceylon. From what you described, it sounds gorgeous. Did you get it yet? I am anxious to see what you think of it in person and how close the stone looks to a Ceylon.

I do indeed have the Kyanite ring Garnet, and it's a beauty! You probably would love it for it's color. It might not have the depth of a true Ceylon sapphire, but the color is dead on. All Kyanite has sold out on ShopNBC, but they really didn't have many styles. It will probably be back, due to it's popularity.

they seem to thrive on drama

Isn't it sad, how some people aren't happy unless they're making others miserable? I'm with you, Bookie, I try to treat people the way I want to be treated. It's a shame that there are so many who don't. I can't stand all the hateful drama that goes on. It's pointless.
What I mean by saying that I think I'm too harsh sometimes is the way I can sound so critical of certain JTV hosts that "bug" me. I think I can be a lot less catty (qatty!) and still get my point across... I mean it's so much easier on the conscience, later on. Like I feel bad because I've said nasty things about Wendy when she goes on air without makeup... that sort of thing. I went back & read some of my earlier posts and wish I could take back some of the meanie things I said. Bleccch! TPFTPFTPF! So on that note, I'll be sure to be kinder in the future. Rest assured, I'll still gripe, but not in a way that would be hurtful to anyone. Jeez, I'd be mortified if Wendy read the posts about her & had her feelings hurt. That would just be sucky.

I think there's a big difference between being "harsh" when criticizing a TV host and attacking a fellow poster. TV hosts are out there in the public. They earn their living by being entertaining, salesmanship, and having a pleasing personality. If we don't think they measure up, we can say so.
I have a theory about trolls and nasty people on BB's. They hide behind anonymity which gives them the feeling that they can get away with stuff they wouldn't dare do in real life. People who flip you off in cars or strangers who are rude fall into that category, too. They probably have miserable lives and are little insignificant people who have to take orders from others. So they come on these boards and act big and bad. The more trouble they can cause, the better. They are particularly satisfied if they can drive good people away. That gives them the feeling of power. The only way to handle them is to ignore them. That's the one thing they can't deal with. A fire can't burn without fuel.
bookchick
04-09-2006, 04:23 AM
well put, pebbles!
i have been using the power of "ignore"
when unpleasant posters start spewing their venom, they go on my ignore list
according to trevor's Q and A re IGNORE, it blocks pm's and we will never know they've posted or started a thread
as i told a fellow poster, it's like a big can of Raid-it eradicates the cockroaches and other unsavory life forms
makes posting more pleasant; takes away their power to wound and cause dissension among the posters
i highly recommend it!

Just to let you know, not to spoil your purchase, but be very careful with your kyanite ring. Kyanite is very soft and scratches easily - you aren't even supposed to pick up a loose kyanite sone with metal tweezers. A ring is not the best piece of jewelry for a kyanite - or even a tanzie for that matter, which is considerably harder. Just be careful - don't wear it to work or anywhere you may bang it or do anything else to it.
Sorry to be a party pooper, but I was just hoping to help before maybe it was too late. I would hate to see a lovely piece of jewelry ruined.

I can't believe that JTV and all the other shopping networks sell those hugh Tanzanite rings without even telling us that Tanzies are not a durable gem and in fact are completely unsuitable for a ring because of their softness. I won't even pick mine up in the tweezers without padding them first (the tweezers) because of how easily they can be damaged. As I've said on other threads, even polishing a Tanzie that's dusty can scratch it because dust is a 7 on the Mohs and Tanzanite is between a 6 and a 61/2! I've also heard that it isn't good to have your Tanzie in full sunlight for long periods because they can fade. Same with Kunzite. They actually call Kunzite the "Evening Stone" because of it. Amythyst will also fade in daylight, as will Citrine. Weird, huh?

Have you ever heard the B.Kliban song? I heard it the other day on his website and it was a hoot! I've always loved the Qat and B.Kliban in general! I went through a "phase" years back and even wanted to get my qat a pair of red sneaks!! Why is it your Sig? Just wondering!

i didn't know he had a website--he's been dead for some years now
the cartoons just always made me laugh
i was going to hawaii every winter back in the 80's; crazy shirts carried tons of his stuff then
i liked 'sumo cat' and the stuff he did for the hawaiian humane society then(adopt-a-cat/dog)
i think i still have an apron and a mug with 'red sneakers' cat
but 'mousies' just always tickled me the most--little bit sick, but funny, which is just how i like my humor!
will be going to listen to 'mousies' when i leave here

By the way thanks because you inspired my renewed interest in B.Kliban! I LOVE RED SNEAKERS CAT! But you see my dear, it is NOT "Cat"... It is "Qat". Q.A.T. It's a "Kliban Thing" you see. Do a search on "B. Kliban Qat" and you will be transformed into a red-sneakered, black and white striped world that you never knew existed! You should definatly make an Avatar of "SneakerQat"!
OK, now for my next question... Why "BookChick"? Do you love to read? I can relate if you do! I'm always in the middle of at least 2 if not more books. I can't get enough!
