She sure does seem to elicit some strong feelings. Apparently either you love her or you hate her. She sure is different. Thoughts?

I would tell you my strong feelings of the subject. If I knew who you were asking about. LOL!
Now if you want to talk about my thoughts of slave wages, run everyone out of business, Wal-Mart..........

I find her interesting. I cant watch her for more than say........10 minutes but I know my mom likes watching her. How my mom can sit and watch her for more than 10 minutes is beyond me.

Hi Garnet,
Yeah, I thought she was a real hoot myself (by now you surely know my penchant for a good laugh) but really, it gets old so fast. She just acts crazed sometimes, especially lately. Maybe it's a mid-life hormonal thing.
Oh, and I'll just bet she's 47!!! Come on!! Look at those hands and that neck! No one I know looks like that that are still in their forties! Maybe even their fifties! She needs to really slap on that Isomers, or try a new line. And don't get me started on that hair-don't!!!
Garnet333
04-04-2006, 07:07 PM
Is she 47???? Holy crap she looks horrible for 47..........OMG she needs some serious skincare. You know the kind that burns 4 layers of skin off. I thought she was in her 50's also. Time has not been good to that women.
Linda Lou
04-04-2006, 07:10 PM
That's what I'm sayin' Garnet. Yep, she claims to be 47. And she's serious, too. I have heard her say it many times, especially during the Isomers shows, but she says that she had a lot of sun exposure when she was young. I say she's at least 55, if she's a day! She sounds like she has a smoker's cough, and that's aging as well.

Is this a new board??
Linda!!
Why didn't you tell me?
It is your job to inform me of new things!
You're slacking!
What, is your watermelon helmet too tight??
sheesh....
Garnet333
04-04-2006, 07:15 PM
She sure does have a very gruff voice. I should have known that was a smokers voice. Now I am going to have to watch her again and try to figure out how she could possibly be 47..........impossible I say. LOL I think in her situation I would seriously consider a face lift or something.

I posted on another thread today (because Linda didn't tell me this one was here!) about how she was scaring that couple from Offerings to death the last time they were on! They are just so peaceful and tranquil, and then she is on there yelling like a fool. I also thought she was well in her 50's.
Linda Lou
04-05-2006, 05:06 AM
LOL! "Or something" indeed Garnet! You could be on to something on the face peel as a start!
Sorry kitty, I was slacking in my duties to be your informant! I didn't even know this was here, till late last nite myself! That heavy helmet must've cut off the circulation to my head. Like that there's new topics, however.

The first time I saw Charla, late last year, I thought someone was playing a joke. She was so hopped up and ran over and modeled with the models, ran back, oohed and ahhed, she made me dizzy! I did have to kind of laugh when I finally realized that is her schtick.

lol ... Mockers, I too couldn't believe her the first time I saw her. I hated her for the longest time, but then gave her a chance ... finally started to like her well enough to NOT change the channel.
Saw her hawking a treadmill one day, had to stop and watch just for the amusement factor ... too funny!

Charla is a trip! I can't believe she is 47, give me a break! Smoking is no excuse. I am 46 and smoked for many years and don't look anywhere near that old. She has got to be at least 56, most likely even older than that.
She raves about how much she likes the Isomers skin care line. It seems like Manuela, the lady that owns the company would request a more youthful host to represent the line in a more favorable way.

One word of advice for charla .... LASIK!
I'm so sick of her peering over her little glasses ... it's very annoying. She also talks to people off stage WAAAY too much IMO. :-)

You know, she mentions that she has a 16 yr. old daughter, (obviously had her QUITE late in life) and I was thinking, can you imagine having a Mother like that? The poor girl must wanna die whenever she brings her friends home.

She's over the top eccentric but she must bring in lots of customers. They even renamed her show the Charla hr. She annoys the heck outa me but I watch because she has the best jewelry shows. And she does sashay around to model handbags and clothes. Honestly, she needs a chill pill. Did you see her when her hair color was messed up? She looked like a calico cat. I don't know how she had the nerve to go on the air like that. What a character.
I was watching when someone called in to another show to complain about her. The host didn't know what to say. Finally, she said that you have to take her with a grain of salt.
I would put her age at 55 or thereabouts.

I use to work for ShopNbc and believe me customers complained constantly! However, she did bring in the sales. She mainly appealed to the older crowd. She became even more popular when the other hosts left. Especially Karen Connelly who also had an older following.

Also, make sure whatever you buy from them you REALLY want it. Trust me,customer service does not care. Things not to buy: All electronics,
Margie's Lamps(Most customers complained the glass would be broken), Anything from a show called "Leather Looks"(Sizes ran very small).Cookware.
Things customers did rave about were: Isomers(Desert Youth especially)
Charles Winston Jewelry
Pamela McCoy Clothes(Customers told me they were comfortable)
Anything from Gold Day(This was jewelry that they were unable to sell @ its regular price).
I can't think of her makeup line name but Eugenia Watson who makes the eyebrow stencils, she has great products.
Honestly, the only two hosts who use to get the phone lines ringing like crazy were Tim Temple & Karen Connelly.
Notice you seldom see new items or vendors. Because they are ruthless and cheap.

Did you ever meet Suzanne Somers? What is she like off camera? Are her make-up and hair as bad as they look to us?

Sorry but Suzanne Somers is with HSN. The hosts never came to the call center. The call center is located in Baton Rouge,La. and they are in Minnesota. But I must say the wanted us to lie and hype up things along with the hosts. Example: After the customer give the item number(s) we were instructed to give what is called a red carpet phrase such as "That's a lovely item". Monitors are in the call center but the order takers cannot hear what the hosts are saying. I had to bs my way through the script when I was there but I somehow would always make it.

at the time, no one could tell me, but that's who it is!
no way is she 47...
she must have a lot of hard miles on her

That is so funny because I always get a "red carpet" line when I call! Here I thought they were sincere all this time! Ha! Ha! That cracks me up!

OH MY Goodness!!!!! I think this thread was written just for me! This woman is the bain of my existence! I cannot even begin to describe the things that go wrong in my brain when I hear her "WHOO-HOO!!! and stupid Yaaahhhh!!!!!" I honestly think the woman has major hormonal problems and issues!
I watched her one day with Eyal Lalo from Invicta, and the poor man had to just sit there while she was slamming his watch down on the table over and over and over, trying to prove it's durability. Meanwhile, she of course was in her usual state of InSPAMSPAMSPAMSPAMSPAMSPAMtality. I felt so sorry for him.
I actually sent an email into ShopNBC and told them everything she did that drives me up the wall, and that I cannot be the only one out here that she drives nuts. I mentioned that they really ought to talk to her and tell her to take a chill pill or do something with her, because I couldn't stand her.
About 2 weeks later I tuned in and she happened to be on, and she started going off as usual about some product, and just as she was about to explode, she said, "Well, I know I have a big mouth, but I just can't help myself........". I swear, I know they read her my email. And I am glad they did. Not that it lasted, she was back to her old self in a day or two.
Now I just mute the channel or change it if she is on. I can't take her anymore. I usually get along with everyone. I can't believe someone from a oneway relationship drives me soooooooo nuts!!!!!!!!

I guarantee you that Charla will not be going anywhere! Charla believe it or not brings in the sales. Like I stated before since they lost most of the good hosts she has become the star. Notice how they always out the high priced jewelry and Isomers shows with her? When Pamela had this horrific looking OTV bag, she mentioned Charla came in the meeting and said make that. Karen Connelly even said Charla was the inspiration behind the girlfriend pinky ring. Both items sold in part because of the "Charla" plug. We use to meet with the top dogs who came in every two months to get our opinions on how to better serve the customers. Most of our suggestions fell on deaf ears. I even mentioned to them how customers constantly complaained about Charla and they said "yeah we know but she is one of our top sales people." Also if you feel like the order taker is rushing you off the phone-they are! When I was there the ALC(Average Length of Call) had to be 2 minutes or less. It may be more because right before I left the script was added about the jewelry protection plan. So if someone hangs up on you then they are trying to salvvage their ALC. If too high you faced termination. No joke.

Wow, unregistered, that's pretty interesting. You sure sound like you're in the know.
I can take or leave Charla, I used to tune in to watch her constantly, b/c she was just SO different. You just never knew what she was going to do or say. It did get old rather quickly. I don't change the channel if she's doing a show I'm interested in, but I don't go out of my way to watch her any more, either.

Hello all! :) I have to say I like Charla, even though she is over the top, I'd rather watch her than the mooing Pam McCoy and her "Oh My God". Charla DOES say "absolutely" waaaaaay too much which annoys me to no end, but I've noticed that she's not the only one. Or they repeat what the person next to them just said. Argh. Kendy drives me nuts with her use of WACKY and INSANE to describe a price, and "In my X amount of years in this business I have never sold X for this amount". Pam McCoy is so darn phoney it's pathetic. Her laugh, if thats what you call it, is so lame, and poor ol' Wes just sits there like a poopie in the punch bowl. He IS a nice distraction from her, though ;)

Ahem. Beat ya Bookie. Used it today at work in a store filled with 20 somethings.
Was talking about the ol' bugger, and I thought I'd be all cute and everything, and mention how much he just sits around now, "just like a poopie in a punch bowl".
Well, they all looked at me like I had 2 heads. It's okay. I thoroughly enjoyed it, and nearly peed myself.

I was just watching her this morning doing the Isomers show. She said she is now 48. Manuela, the Isomers vendor, is 44. The difference in their appearance is profound!!
They really do need a better representative of that line to do the shows than Charla. And she's gotta be lying through her teeth about her age.

I'm 42 at the moment, I know Charla couldn't be 48, but she's probably in her early 50's. ShopNBC is a mystery to me, because it doesn't know where it wants to go, whether it wants to be like QVC or HSN. I do know that Charla is one of my favorites & a mature babe without a doubt, but I wish she would show more of her nice legs & sexy feet.
