Have any of you seen the new host Sherri? I guess she used to be a producer, but is now a host. I've seen her co-hosting with Sharon twice. I like her ... she is very clearly a jewelry lover, she doesn't come off as fake as many of them do (SHARON).

Hi Bee,
Yep, seen her, and I agree, she's likeable, and seems more down to earth than some of them.

Geez guys! I like to read these threads to read about gemstones, but I don't know where my JTV is! I found it late one night, but now I can't seem to find it at all!! :( I have to keep searching, but I'll tell ya, I'm nuts, bc I will wake up in the middle of the night and flip through the tv to see if I find it! haha!

I haven't seen her yet, she must be on during the day :-(
Kitty you can always go to Jewelrytelevision.com and watch live! I guess that's what I'm going to have to do to see Sherri. I'll check out the program guide on the site to see when she's gonna be on. So she's good, huh? Maybe they'll put Misty on days & send her over to us on nights!

Did anyone catch Sheree's "Solo" jewelry show? I was thrilled that they put her on by herself so soon! She was Aces!
Could you imagine Janine doing a solo? No way! And she's been there how long? She still acts like a total Newbie. Maybe she's too "meek"? It never seems that she has an original thought in her head... always just commenting on what the other host said. I know it takes awhile to get acclimated to being on TV, but this long? Am I the only one who thinks this???

Sheree was actually the Show Host's Manager at one time.. but she's always wanted to be part of the "talent pool" instead...
She finally got her wish...
that's why it seems she's a natural... ;)

I like Jeanine, but don't think she could do a solo show at this point either. Jerry either ...

It was like a week and a half ago. You can check out the schedule for the week at JTV's site to see when and if she'll be solo-ing again!

Jerry did do a two hour solo show sometime before christmas. He was okay, really good in some parts and not so much in others. I don't think he has the natural BS-ing ability that some of the hosts have, which in some ways is kinda good. I don't think that the show hosts realize that unless you are extremely gullible, nothing they say is going to make you buy an item unless you want to. If you don't like it or the price isn't right, no dice. No inflated supposed retail price or overdone description is gonna sway me. Either I want it - or I don't!!! I don't care how many times Misty says first come first serve or if they are supposedly "selling out".

No Way, really??? You mean if I'm SECOND SERVED I'm gonna like MISS OUT??? Ugh. I wonder if anyone has ever taped Misty or Angela and showed it to them... Would they perhaps RECOGNIZE A PATTERN THERE????
Maybe they have a kind of Brain Freeze that makes them think that we're idiots or something.

Its not!
It is unscripted and there is no prompter.

Welcome, Gemnerd, love the name!!! Thanks for the info, do you know any more details about the new showhosts? Feel free to join the club and hang with us whenever you want!

Jerry did do his own show about six months ago, maybe even longer. It must have been a trial show though, cuz it was only two hours in the middle of the night. I haven't seen him do another on his own since, but I thought he did pretty well. Jerry and Janeane also do the pre-recorded items for Comcast Cable OnDemand. Casey works with Robert all the time, but I doubt we will ever see her or Janeane on their own. I love them both, but I just don't think aither of them have enough to say to carry a whole show by themselves.
Can't wait to see the other new hosts!!!

I've seen Nicole once or twice and she really looked as if she fit right in. Finding out that she's Gem Certed made a lot of sense because she came across as one who knew what she was talking about. I heard Cheryl say tonight that she's going to be doing the overnight show because Mandy's on Maternity Leave!
Congrats Mandy! Wishing you well and a speedy return!
I wonder if she knows if she's going to have a boy or a girl? I know she already has a daughter... wouldn't that be cool if she had a son? Another daughter would be great too, of course! Babies! Love babies!
Perhaps that's why they're adding new hosts, being that Mandy isn't going to be there for a bit? Makes sense to me!

mystylady, I'm glad I saw this. I was just thinking Mandy must be off! She has two daughters already. 8~9ish and then a 2 (or 3) year old. Man! I'm clear on that, aren't I?? LOL
LOVE Sherree! Her hands are fine. Any one that thinks otherwise~~KNOCK IT OFF!
Ha ha ha ha! Everybody chill! I'm kidding. :^ )
Who's watching Nikki and aforementioned Sheree tonight? Those sparkling turntables!

Two daughters! I didn't know that she had two, I only thought she had one! I'm so out of the loop! lol
I wasn't referring to SHEREE'S hands, just to hands in general, how they will give a person's age away. Same with the neck, IMHO. I don't think I've ever seen Sheree's hands... but I've seen her a lot and I never noticed anything different, but so what??? You should see my hands! Compared to mine, short nails that just never seem to grow, dry from the winter, ANYBODY'S would look better, so I'm not one to say anything. It's amazing what a set of nails will do for yer mitts! I'd be helpless at my job with them or I'd have them, believe me.

There's a new host!!! Her name is Abby and she had her "debut" with Angie this morning! She was excellent from what I had a chance to see... we get our JTV cut off at 9:20 am so I didn't see too much of her but she held her own with Angie, which was cool, because most new hosts are intimidated by the "older" hosts. She used to be a call center representative, for 3 years, so she knows her way around JTV. Anyone else see her? She's very cute! She's from Brazil and speaks Portugese. I liked her personality... very bubbly and not afraid to speak up!

I saw Abby too Mysty (you beat me to it!). I remember her, from a while back. Not sure if anybody else saw this, but for one or two shows ... they actually had a model showing the jewelry, and it was Abby.
The JTV hosts really need to invest in some hand lotion, especially Dawn. Her hands are looking pretty bad these days. Sheree too. Sharon has the prettiest hands and nails IMO. Nikki is second.
The QVC hosts always have lotion on (with sparklies), which makes the presentation so much easier to watch.

I have to disagree about Sharon having the best looking hands and nails. Not to be mean, but hands really show your age, and her age is definately showing. What I really hate are the ones who have the really long acrylic nails. They are really tacky. I have acrylics myself, but I keep them short (like Wendy's) and I only have them to make my nails look nice because mine are not, not to make them look long. To me, big long talons are extremely unprofessional, IMO.
I have to say I'm glad that JTV doesn't have models. It just seems hokey. The only time I saw one was when Jerry was on by himself, and obviouly needed someone to model the women's jewelry. I know that most of the people on here think that JTV's lack of bells and whistles such as models and fancy sets are a bad thing, but for me, that's the reason why I like JTV. I'm a straighforward person who likes straighforward shopping without all the hooplah. The few times I have watched the other netwroks I have been disgusted by the fake sounding hosts and overdone sets, not to mention the way they cut form jewelry or whatever is on to a "today's special" that has nothing to do with the show like a barbecque grill. I also have a problem with a network that sells costume jewelry for fine jewelry prices. But that's just me.
beekeeper
07-19-2006, 07:19 AM
I don't have the acrylics, just don't like them. I don't mind when others do, but I can't stand the "chiclet" nails. Misty and Cheryl have them, as does Lisa Robertson over on QVC. I like Sharons, cuz they aren't all thick, not too long and have a prettier polish than just the boring pink/white french manicure. Hers has a frosty glaze over them ...
I've noticed that Tamara now has the acrylics. You know she fought it! lol ... She wears jewelry now too. She never used to ... she'd just sit and gab while Sharon or whomever was wearing the jewelry. NOW she is the model ... kinda funny. She's had a mini make-over ... she dresses nicer now too.
jewelfreak
07-19-2006, 07:41 PM
I agree, Tamera does looka lot nicer. I did always wonder why she never wore jewelry! It seems kinda funny to want to sell it if you don't really care about it, but I guess there are a lot of people who work in fields that don't nessicarily interest them.
Yeah, I'm happy now that I work for Zale's, cuz now my nail tech can do my acrylics thinner so they look more natural. When I was a restaurant manager, they had to do them thicker because they got so much wear and tear they always broke if they were thin.

07-20-2006, 11:40 PM
Hi Y'all!
I don't remember them having a model... must have been a one or two time thing that they abandoned.
I noticed that sometimes when they show a gem "on the hand" that they'll hold it out away from her hand (usually Tommy or Scott). Is this to make the gem appear bigger? Or maybe they can't reach over close enough? You'd think that sitting side by side would be plenty of room to actually get the gem close to her hand, wouldn't you?
As for the host's nails, I like Caseys. They're thin and not too long and her manicure is so cute. Yeah, the standard French, but on her it looks pretty. Her hands are OK... she's got a bit of the "elephant knees" knuckles going on, but that's OK.
I can't stand when they model a ring that's like 3 sizes too big and they're scootching their fingers to try and not have it flip all the way around to the palm of their hand!
beekeeper
07-21-2006, 07:05 AM
It's better than Misty cramming a ring that's too small on her alreay fat fingers! Nothing worse than a ring that's too tight ... so unattractive!

Ya ever try a ring on at the store and it's too small and you can't get it off? Scares the outta ya! Because there's the paper or plastic taggy thing hanging there and you're trying to look cool, but inside you're in a panic because, well, you can't just LICK your finger or anything... yeccch! So you weasel it off somehow and vow to NEVER try on a size 6 again!
Misty does have some chubby fingerage going on...
She's not "allowed" on here anymore so I guess it's OK to say that :) but it's true, either way.

Mysty, he was alright looking, but nothing special. He was wearing a suit jacket and tie, plus a ring on both hands. I'm not fond of men wearing jewelry ... that's MY job! ;-)
I don't know if Jennifer got married. I haven't heard anything ... and I haven't heard her mention her spessartite engagement ring in a long time.

LOL about "your job" to wear the sparkleys! I think a wedding ring on a man is great, but beyond that...nuh uh. I hate the gold chain, the excessive rings... who DOES that? Maybe too many complained and that's why we never see "Chris" anymore. No that can't be it... they don't listen to us.

Yeah, I don't like jewelry on men either. Most of it is too chunky and gawdy, and/or yo yo yo homie-G! The only thing I like is a wedding ring, and maybe a small, tasteful ring (on the ring finger, not the pinky! Blech!!!!) on the other hand. That's it. I had a real rich guy come in wanting a thick, but short rope chain for this big anchor charm he had. I thought he looked absolutely ridiculous, but he loved it. To each their own. I was also privy to a cell phone convo of his while ringing the chain up on how his wife is a cheating c*!t. He was probably talking to his mistress. LOL

07-30-2006, 10:08 PM
Yeow, Jewel! Don't you hate when you're forced into someone's private life via cell phone because they're too rude to go stand in the corner or something? It's like people think they become invisible the moment the nervegrating ring sounds! It's always some "catchy tune" or something equally annoying, and boy can people go on and on! They're oblivious to everyone around them too, like "poof.. I'm in my own private world now".
I agree LOL Pinky rings are Bleccch! On a man, anyway! I like them on me but can't ever find a size 4. Toe rings are dumb if you wear 'em on your finger cuz they have that "split", tho I've tried.
I saw Abby again, she was with Angela. They seem to do really well together. I swear it's raining Tanzies over there!
jewelfreak
07-31-2006, 09:14 AM
LOL raining tanzies!
yeah, we get some real annoying customers. I hate the ones you say hi to and they blatently ingore you. That's when I go over and get right in front of them and say it again really loud and start being really annoying, since I know that's what they were trying to avoid anyway! LOL
I also hate the ungrateful young women who throw a hissy fit because their boyfriends can't afford a ten thousand dollar ring, and thumb their nose at the two or three thousand dollar one they can afford (and most of them are going into severe debt just to be able to spend that much. I wonder how many couples spend the first ten years of their married lives stuck in apartments because the girl insisted on weraing the equivalent to a SPAMSPAMSPAMSPAMSPAMSPAMSPAMSPAM down payment on their fingers). If I was a guy, I would drop her right then and there. Call it the engagement test if she can't handle a smaller engagement ring, then how the heck is she gonna deal when things get rough later on in life?
When I got my engagement ring, money was really tight. I was pretty sure I would only get a promise type ring, and I was fine with that. When I ended up getting a real engegment ring after all, I was exstatic, and it was on sale half off for six hundred dollars! And I wouldn't love a ten thousand dollar ring any more than the one I have, because it's about what it represents, not how big it is. All these women care about is oneuping thier girlfriends so they have the biggest rock. Makes me sick, and I feel so bad for these guys. All I can do is shoot them a sympathetic smile and try to educate the girl on quality versus quantity. Some of them get it and we reach a happy medium, others continue their hissy fit until their boyfriend runs screaming from the store. What can ya do...

That's what I've always said, it's the quality of the LOVE behind the ring, not the quantity of the diamond involved. It doesn't even have to BE a diamond. Heck, it could be a WORM wrapped around your finger, but if the right guy put it there... although I'd question that one from the getgo... lol... then HEY! Find a man who knows a worm from a ring!

That was one cool fun read, going over this thread just now. I really love Nicole! Watching her is like going from a stuffy room into the fresh air and breathing deeply.
I guess Janine fell off the planet or something. Maybe she'll turn up on Mars.
Did anyone catch Mandy and Tamara's gem show last week? Why do they have to say the last part of an "exciting" sentance together? Do they rehearse?
Otherwise, like I've always said, I really do like Tamara. She can describe a gemstone back into the ground it came from.
It takes gumption and knowledge to go on the way she does because she doesn't speak "Oh Please Buy Me", she tells you, in her "YIKES" kind of way, about the gem itself, which is in my book very cool. Granted, she should be on medication for overactivity, but I've liked her from back when she did gemstone shows with Scott. Now THERE was a match made in Heaven. Anyone remember that?

I want more Shawn Diddy. She is by far the best host on JTV.

I like Shawn too! She brings her own personal experiences to the table, doesn't just go on and on about how great JTV is. Probably one of the reasons I can't stand to watch the lady that does the Bella Luce shows. She just goes on and on, like a robot, not bringing any personality to the show.
I know that over on QVC we rag on certain hosts who talk too much about their personal lives, but I think Shawn is at a good place right in the middle.

I swear I've never once seen Shawn Diddy... is she related to Puff Daddy? Good Lord, I've lost my mind.

So Wednesday night I saw some new lady (chubby, short brownish/blond hair, sounds a lot like Wendy) and this morning, a new guy hosting with Sheree (Shaun). I've seen him somewhere before, but not sure where.
Anybody else see these new hosts?

Who was the new girl on with, or was she by herself? I think that is the Shop at Home electronics guy.
How were they?

The woman was by herself ... and ok. It's very hard for me to listen to that southern accent for very long (like I said, if I hadn't seen her I would have thought it was Wendy).
The guy was ok too ... he was with Sheree, so he didn't get to say much ... ;-)

It's Wendy's sister, Heidi. I remember her from YEARS back... Not sure why she stopped working there to begin with... But I guess now she has returned. Her husband is one of the executives there or something like that.

I saw a new gal today with Misty. It wasn't Heidi though, who I do remember. This one had a name starting with a B. Strong accent, but I give her a thumbs up for a nice personality.
