Did anyone enter the JTV Design Contest? I did, and they said on the web site they would be announcing finalists on the site and on air starting today. I have yet to see anything else about it on either.

Sweet! Good going! I can't draw, but I tried to design something for last years contest and got frustrated that I couldn't come up with anything decent :-(
What did you design? I bet I can guess... a ring, right?! What was it like???
Good luck! Wouldn't it be something to win!!! You can't win it if you're not in it, I always say! Keep us posted!

Welcome Jewelfreak :) Love the name!!!
I always have jewelry designs floating around in my head but putting them on paper is a whole different story. I have trouble drawing stick figures :(

I'm always doodling, and have made up some designs for rings, but never submitted them to JTV. I did sketch the design for my engagement ring, b/c it's a heart shape, and most typical wedding sets don't work well with this shape of diamond. Have to say, I was really pleased the way it turned out.

This thread makes me think of the ring Kathy Levine designed for diamon-eek. It had a big heart shaped stone and was a big seller.

I remember that ring ... it was a big seller. They first did it in gold, and then in silver. You can still find them on Ebay from time to time ...
Garnet ... we should have designed our pieces and submitted them to JTV! DAMN!
I wonder what they do with all the entrants that don't win ... do you think they steal the designs?!?

Well, you do have to sign an affidavit on the back of your entries signing them over to JTV, but I don't think they steal them. On the site, it said if you win you have to sign another affidavit withen seven days of being notified, which I'm assuming is the real paperwork they need to use your design. The first place winner's design is manufactured, which, I thought last year's was pretty ugly. I think they may have manufactured last year's second place design too, cuz I think I've seen it, but I don't know for sure. As for any others, I know they haven't used them because last year's finalist's designs are still posted on the site, and I haven't seen any of them in actual jewelry.

I always thought that the Design Contest was a way for their "Think Tank" to come up with new Jewelry designs without actually having to do the designing. In my opinion, if they use your design, winner or not, you should at least get the credit for it.
