Talk Show Host Muses on Princesses and Strippers

As the Wollman Rink in Central Park closed for the season on Monday night, KELLY RIPA of "Live With Regis and Kelly" talked about her first foray on ice. She was standing next to the rink, without skates, during a benefit event for Figure Skating in Harlem. No blades?
"It's really about the children," Ms. Ripa explained. "Not about me breaking something. The first time I skated was about three months ago, so when I say I'm bad, I am not just being self-deprecating."
Ms. Ripa was here for her daughter, LOLA, 4. "She loves it, anything with a costume," Ms. Ripa said. "A princess on ice. It's better than a stripper, anything but that."
Has Ms. Ripa seen strippers on ice?
"Mark has," Ms. Ripa said, laughing, referring to her husband, MARK CONSUELOS, who was standing nearby. She added, apparently referring to the clarity of the image, "You can't unring a bell."
MEREDITH VIEIRA of "The View" was recently hired to replace KATIE COURIC, who is moving from NBC's "Today" show to CBS News.
Would she have wanted the job on "Today"?
Ms. Ripa demurred. "That's real work," she said. "That is, like, news and journalism, preparation, and you're there at 3:30 in the morning. That's not for me." "Light, fluffy, spontaneous," she added. "That's what I do best."
