Knoxville, TN ….(April 2, 2005) Knoxville-based Jewelry Television (formerly ACN) announced plans to build a 50-acre corporate campus in Knoxville, Tennessee. The company’s tremendous growth and anticipated future growth have made it a target for proposals from other states and counties. However, Jewelry Television and its executive management team have remained committed to the area where the company has thrived. With assistance from Knox County Mayor, Mike Ragsdale, the Development Corporation of Knox County and the Knoxville Area Chamber Partnership, Jewelry Television has identified and is committed to the construction of its headquarters facility on a 50-acre site in the Pellissippi Corporate Center owned by the Knox County Development Corporation. The site is part of the Tennessee Technology Corridor.
The proposed headquarters will include approximately 200,000 square feet for office, studio, and call center space and an additional 100,000 square feet for warehouse space. The budget for the project is $20-$25 million for construction with another $7-$9 million allocated for furniture and equipment. The schematic design of the site and the building will be handled by the New York office of Gensler, the largest architectural firm in the world, who has extensive experience building this type of complex facility. Gensler previously designed US headquarters for both QVC and HSN. The company will seek a local or regional firm to handle the design/build phase of the project. Preliminary design of the new facilities is underway and construction is expected to begin in July, 2005 with a completion date scheduled for March 1, 2007.
Jewelry Television currently employs over 1,600 people and the new facility will allow the company’s estimated addition of over 750 jobs by 2008 and anticipated growth to approximately 3,500 employees by 2013. Company revenues have grown from $5.2 million in 1997 to $350+ million in 2004. Based upon current estimates the company plans to triple revenue and double its number of employees by the end of the decade.
“The company is so appreciative of our workforce and the support we have received from governmental officials to help make a new corporate headquarters a reality,” said Bob Hall, President of Jewelry Television.
“Our new facilities are being designed to capture the culture and energy of our company. Our goal is to create an environment to make Jewelry Television a better place to work and to allow us to continue our tremendous growth. We recognize that happy employees are the difference between mediocrity and excellence. This expansion is all about better serving our employees and our loyal customers,” remarked Bob Hall, President of Jewelry Television.
