Why do they sell gemstone or rings when they have a quantity of less than 10? I mean the viewership of JTV must be HUGE and yet they offer an affordable stone and say oh we only have 9. By the time they get around to announcing the price, they are gone.
Do you think it's a tactic?

If someone really likes a piece, they won't wait until the price is announced, they'll just call. Back when JTV didn't have an 800 number this happened a lot less, but now, folks don't have anything to lose and a great piece of jewelry to gain if they call in right away.
Sometimes there's just a limited supply of something... a tactic? Hmmm... I don't know. It depends on whether or not there REALLY IS only that number of that item... don't forget that sometimes they mean "available to THEM" for that show. The only way to know for sure is to look the item number up on their web site and see if it's really sold out or not.

I quess my whole point is why not post the fewer quanitity items on the web, and air the larger quantity items because of the hundred of thousands of viewers out there. They get such an audience and could sell so much more if these were realdily available. Looking at the business side of it not from being a customer who can't get in on the deal.
By tactic, I mean does hearing low quantities (and again I'm talking less then 10 or 20) get people hyped up to get in and buy, buy, buy. Does the lower quantity scare people into thinking the item is that scarce in the market. Just wondering...

That is exactly why they do it. No doubt about it.

Now that you put it that way and I think about it... I agree. Because I've felt that "urgency" that they make you feel about only having THIS MANY left and OMG if I don't call I'm gonna MISS OUT!
Yes I would say this is a tactic. It is effective, you have to admit.

See, I thought the whole purpose of the turntables was to show a lot of low quantity items in a way that econimical as far as time goes. So I think when they say on-air that there are only ten of an item that is not on a turntable, they are full of you know what.
