Anyone see the Legends Ball? IMO it was very moving and I found myself in tears several times. What a wonderful tribute and way to pay homage to black women who paved the way and opened doors for those who follow.

Today's show featured Anderson Cooper and his mother, Gloria Vanderbilt, was in the audience. OMG, she is the perfect example of overdoing plastic surgery. It almost looked like she had on a hard plastic mask and the left side of her face looked disfigured with creases that weren't on the right side of her face. She is 82 and I can't believe she did that to herself. Why can't women just let themselves grow old gracefully instead of disfiguring themselves to the point of ugliness?

Tomorrow's show should be good too as Oprah and Elie Wiesel will be at Auschwitz. For some reason the history of the Holocaust and what happened in the concentration camps has always interested me.

I did see the Ball and tribute. Very cool - loved it! A friend of mine's sister was included which was way cool; Valerie Simpson.

I did see the Anderson Cooper interview, E.T. I was curious about Gloria and how old she might be, so I did some googling. She must have been, what?, 44 when Anderson was born. Also, she is very up-front about having had plastic surgery, but unfortunately she had really bad skin cancer at one point and had to basically have most of her nose removed and reconstructed. So that's a big bummer and probably part of why she looks so frozen.

She also has two older sons who are 55 and 50, Anderson's half brothers, one of whom has been out of contact with the family for 27 years. To hear them talk on Oprah today, you'd think she only had Carter and Anderson.

I didn't watch it. I am not an Oprah fan at all.

Didn't one of Anderson's brother's commit suicide a few years ago?

Thanks for the info on her skin cancer. I wasn't aware of that. I'm not one to read up on celebs and just don't follow their lives at all. I have enough going on in my life that I have no interest in theirs and I'm sure they don't care about any of us. And the way I see it is we all put our pants on the same way.....one leg at a time.

I believe Anderson said that happened in 1988. Very tragic especially since they have no idea why he did it.

Well, sounds like I missed a good interview... I "got over" Oprah years ago, but "almost" watched yesterday cause I do like Anderson... I enjoyed the stories he told about his mother when he co-hosted on Live...

;0))

Here's a pretty good bio on Gloria -

That miniseries they have several years ago (Poor Little Rich Girl) was very interesting.

I loved the Legends ball ... Oprahs home is fabulous! Can you believe that lawn?!? It's like a fairy tale ...

Also saw yesterdays show with Anderson Cooper and Gloria Vanderbuilt. So interesting ... can't believe she is that old! I have no problem with those who choose cosmetic surgery ... whatever makes you feel good!

I can't imagine the grief she went thru ... like she said, closure ... a word that is just worthless. How can you have closure over the death of a child, especially when they don't even really know why he did it!

E.T. - Oprah once said, that whenever she gets nervous interviewing someone of influence or with a certain level of celebrity ... she thinks to herself ... "they poop just like I do" ... lol ... kinda gross, but true! We are all the same.

Suzanne, wasn't the "poor little rich girl" movie about Barbara Hutton, the Woolworth Heiress? Was this the one starring Farah Fawcett?!?

Have to laugh over the Oprah comment and "pooping". Another thing I heard is that if you have to speak to an audience and you're nervous, picture them in their underwear.

I have no problem with a "little" plastic surgery but some don't know when to stop. It goes beyond improving and appears disfiguring and that's what bothers me.

Did you see the story on Entertainment tonight a while back about that famous Real Estate lady in Hollywood, who finally died from complications to her many many surgeries? She was very scary looking ... she said she was absolutely addicted to cosmetic surgery.

Then of course, there is that "cat lady" in NYC ... I'll admit, that's going over the edge! lol ...

Didn't see it but that's because I don't watch ET. Just can't get into hearing or reading about celebs. I have seen the "cat lady" on various shows and that's one messed up gal. They just don't know when to stop!
