I use to enjoy watching Emeril then for some reason stopped. Tonight I realized why, he is like Lisa R.....STALE!!
He does the same act every night. The "bamm", his annoying humming while cooking, the same phrases over and over but what gets under my skin the most is everything involves kicking it up with liquor as the audience claps.

I agree, and for that same reason I don't watch him. I will watch the older ones where he had no audience, or puppets, to applaud at his every move. I don't see where that serves ANY purpose whatsoever, in fact, I find it embarrassing that thats all he can come up with to GET the applause. Lame. That, and the "Oh yeah, babe". Ugh. Bring back re-runs of The Two Fat Ladies!!!! THEY were fun to watch.

I am bored with him. I liked him about 5 years ago. I have 2 cook books singed by him, when I met him at a bookstore signing.

I totally agree. He is one of the original chefs on food network ... I loved him at first, but the catch phrases got old SOO fast! He has some great recipes ... I just can't watch the show. I will watch if they have special co-hosts on ...
I saw a commercial that Food Network is going to have the classic episodes. This should be awesome!!
Before the annoying sound effects Emeril makes when grinding the pepper and adding salt to a dish!! What's up with those bizarre noises??

Emeril has had some vey interesting New Orleans recipes to share with viewers!
UNFORTUNATELY, HIS GIRTH SUGGESTS THAT HE WOULD BE BETTER OFF MODELING RECIPES THAT ARE MORE LIKE THOSE DONE BY CHEFS WHO STRESS MORE HEALTHY EATING!!!!!!!

Emeril seems to have an ego the gets more inflated than Macy's Thanksgiving Balloons.
I'm a big Tyler Florence fan. I've met him several times and have found him to be a genuine and charming person.

Tyler's a cutie. I've been admiring him on the Applebee's menu. (And the new bruschetta burger is awesome. But skip the garlic fries, unless you like to bathe in oil.)
Just switching around..............Emeril needs to open his mouth when he speaks or lose some of those chipmunk cheeks!!!

Emeril Lagasse is rich and he has money. I don't see what the big fuss is about. I am a owner of 11 cookbooks written by Emeril Lagasse. Not one of my cookbooks had been signed and I am totally happy. Cut Emeril so slack would you. I have been watching Emeril Lagasse since I was 10 and I am 18 now. Emeril is nice when he chooses but when it comes to his 9 restauarants he is very busy and he doesn't have time for this chatting stuff. He has business to conduct. If Emeril were to post right now, he would agree with me 110% and you guys would see that I am right.

OH! I miss the Two Fat Ladies. I'd even settle for the one remaing fat lady all by herself!
I watch No Reservations because Anthony Bourdain is an extreme hottie. Paula Dean is my new fave. Nothing compares to old Julia Child shows on PBS. She is the original, IMO.
As for Emeril, he was on a fast fizzle when he started out. If he's SO busy, he could cut out the television show and conduct more business. Remember that awful half hour sitcom he had for about ten seconds? Oy! In the cookbooks that I have seen, it's all Emeril - not many photographs of the food.
Do not get me started on Rachel Ray. Oprah can pump all the money she wants to into Rach. It ain't gonna happen, Opie. Never.

I have always enjoyed Jacque Pepin's cooking shows. He isn't on that often, though. I am strictly an observer because his dishes are not for amateurs. He had his daughter, Claudine, on with him for one series. She is beautiful but about as accomplished a cook as I am, lol. It's hard to believe she grew up with a genius chef for a father. About all she did was hand him stuff.

Oh, I forgot about Claudine! My mom always thought she was going to cut herself. I like Jacques a lot. He has taught me several things and he is a person that has a zest for life. It comes through on television and in his cookbooks.
Another television cooking show I've always liked is the Urban Peasant. James Barber could make something to eat out of a can of tuna, an old boot and some ketchup. He is the one that got me putting pepper on my orange slices. Very simple, basic food but tasty and filling - and cheap! I always think of college students learning how to cook and eat better with his help. Beats calling Pizza Hut. He should do a handbook for freshmen!

Have you seen Quick Fix Meals with Robin Miller on the Food network? She comes up with excellent tasty meals that are fast and easy to prepare. Rachel Ray just tosses stuff together but Miller can cook.

My Stepfather was Italian, and he always made up a bowl of orange slices, olive oil, and sprinkled it with salt and pepper.
He was the only one who ate it. Yuck.

I love black pepper sprinkled on ripe sliced strawberries drizzled with a very good quality balsamic vinegar. Sounds odd...but try it!

Curvi - On orange slices, I just do a small bit of fresh ground black pepper. Yup, I sure do.
Linda Lou - That does not sound appealing to me either! :p
Sam - I have heard of that combo before but I have not tried it. It reminds me of a raspberry dressing recipe.
Pebbles - No, I have not watched her but thanks for the heads up.

I can watch old reruns of Julia Child and Jacques Pepin forever and still enjoy the episodes and even pick up tips. The new group of "celebrity" chefs the Food Network has generated get old, boring and way too full of themselves very quickly. Can you imagine Julia Child with her own talk show or hawking a line of cookware on one of the shopping channels? She had way too much class.

Rebel - You are right about Julia hawking cookware! It would never happen. I've heard Anthony Bourdain make remarks about Rachel Ray and "selling meatballs on QVC" which was a jab at Rocco. It's true about the fifteen minutes and some are going to squeeze every second out of it that their managers will allow.
I was surprised to see Paula Deen endorsing Smithfield products on QVC before the holidays. I thought she was going to sell her latest book.
Linda Lou - What the hell? Ham hocks in the gravy!!!!! Mama mia!

GREEN EGGS AND HAM--SAM I AM!
Paula Deen is not only a traditional southern cook, but, also, along with her sons, has a family business a restaurant.
At least, she uses what she sells to cook up a good meal!
Green eggs and ham for Sam-I-am!!!!!!!!

That was my point, GE&H, I did not expect her to be associated with Smithfield. I was expecting a holiday cookbook when I saw that she was scheduled to be on. With her loads of experience and large following, I was expecting something more along those lines, not just a "Hey, y'all, buy this! It's yummy!". When QVC previously sold her cookbooks, they did it up like they usually do with several dishes on display. I missed that along with the stories that always go along with the recipes.

Ham hocks in the SAUCE, puddy, not the gravy. lol
There was nothing quite like trying to eat a plate of pasta, but having to skim the layer of fat off of it first! :P

Some people call the sauce 'gravy'. Most people think that gravy is the brown stuff made from meat drippings but Italians sometimes call spaghetti sauce 'gravy'.

I'm also a Paula Deen fan! She's had a hard scrabble life, but she sure made it doing what she loves to do.
I can take Emeril here and there, but I'm not as big of a fan as I used to be. I really get some great ideas from Rachael, Giada, and the Barefoot Contessa.

We ate in her restaurant in Savannah. The line to get in goes around the block 2 times a day, every day. I'm sorry to report that we were disappointed. I know it's Southern cooking but everything was fried to death to the point where it was tasteless.

Hey, Pebbles!
Sorry to hear about the food. It's hard to serve that many people and I have always wondered how these chefs can consistently maintain their quality. Wolfgang or Emeril can only be in one location at a time and it's hard to find an employee that takes as much care as an owner sometimes. Paula's sons run the place so I am really surprised. :(
Poor Paula had a coughing spell when she was on with Bob. He got her some water and she was OK but her eyes were watering. She was all over that convention hall - appearing on QVC a few times and also doing demonstrations for a large audience and of course, flirting! She is a woman that loves life and she was a-kissin' on Bob Bowersox and Bob Warden!
They sold a Smithfiled pork roast with her name and picture on the label. It was regular QVC priced at $50.00 for a 3.5 pound roast! It was introductory priced but it was still way too much. I was glad to see her selling her celebration cookbook. too.

I like Good Eats and that Road Tasted show that Alton Brown did. Going on a cross country tour on motorcycles to different eateries along the way. I guess the cops in that town in CA had nothing better to do than show AB all the places they frequent. :)
