View Full Version : Unflattering clothes on hosts

Tonight I have first watched Carolyn Gracie, then Antionella Nester wear 3 button jackets with only the middle button hooked.
The bottom ones wouldn't have buttoned if they tried. The top ones were pulling as well, badly, and they were not buttoned either.
The effect was sloppy, and not at all slimming as I think they thought. The tautness around the middle buttom made the jackets look wrinkled.

Please tell me this is not the new trend, cause I'm not buying into it.

I couldn't believe someone behind the scenes let them go on the air like that.

I didn't see them and I don't usually see these particular hosts - they must be on in the wee hours - I live in the Eastern time zone. But that being said I have to say that I think it's great that QVC even hires women who are larger sized - I think it's refreshing. They should wear clothes that fit them however.

I saw Antonella this early a.m.. One button buttoned, and her jacket looked very snug on her.

I saw Antonella this morning and couldn't believe anyone let her go on air like that. Her white blazer was about two sizes too small and she did have a button buttoned between her boobs and her waist and because the jacket was so small, it looked like she couldn't move her arms and it made her boobs look like they were popping right out. To make matter worse, she was wearing pants and, because the jacket was way too small, her hips looked huge below it. The look was just awful and made her look much heavier than she is. Someone needs to let her and Patti know that they should be wearing clothes in sizes that fit properly. I think if Antonella saw a tape of herself she'd be appalled.

Oh, I'm all for them hiring hosts of all sizes and shapes, but wear clothes that fit.
Carolyn looked the same as Antoinella, for those that only saw her, except her jacket was aqua.

Patti strikes me as just having no idea what to wear to flatter her figure.
She wears tight and/or short tops or tucks them in, making her look just huge on the bottom. I realize she's bottom heavy but she should wear longer/looser tops.

The thing is that Mary Beth Roe is pear-shaped just like Patti is. However, MBR works with her figure and not against it. She knows how to flatter her shape with clothing. MBR isn't skinny, but she chooses well clothing-wise. Me thinks Patti is picking the wrong host (Lisa R.) to emulate.

It would seem that QVC must have "dressers" who over see what hosts wear. I admit, though, it often doesn't appear that way. I saw Antonella. The outfit was not flattering to say the least.

I do like her, though.

Missitaly, good point about MBR's figure and how she handles dressing.
I don't think she's as bottom heavy as Patti or as heavy as Antonella, but she is definitely pear shaped and not skinny, as you say.
She is very attractive for a middle aged woman. Did you hear her and Linda Ohm from Imperial Gold the other night both say they've never had plastic surgery? A caller who raved about how young they both looked prompted them both to say that and the caller responded that she had been wondering how they looked so good after 16 yrs. on QVC together (it was the 16th anniv. of Imperial Gold; MBR has been with Linda 20 yrs since Linda was also selling IG on CVN with MBR).

I agree; MBR is so very pretty and "natural." She was standing next to Patti tonight during Sat Night Beauty talking about her upcoming show. What a contrast! MBR looked so classy with her hair, make-up, and outfit. I kept thinking that Patti needs to take a look at this woman (who is probably close to 15 years her senior) and get a hint.

MBR and I have similar shapes and it's always nice to watch her presenting clothing and telling what works for her. I've never gone wrong following her advice.

MBR I don't think has had anything done but she doesn't seem like she sits in the sun either. Linda Ohm, however, I think DID have some work done about a year or two ago. I remember when everyone made such a fuss about how good she looked after being gone for a while. To each his own.

I agree; I don't think that MBR has had a thing done, but I DO wonder if she's going to cave. SHe's always complained about her neck, and it must be hard to not give into the pressure to stay young looking. PJD sure did give into it at a relatively young age.

I also agree that Linda looks like she definately had SOMETHING done, maybe not a full face lift, but she does look different. Maybe a little Botox??

Jill is on this a.m. on silver style. Her jacket is open, but her chest is looking large. Jacket too small again?

I agree with the too-tight jacket comments. Like I've said before - If you can't zip, button, snap or buckle it ALL the way, do not wear it. Ya ain't fooling a soul! If I have something that is too tight, I feel like the Incredible Hulk. I want to flex my arms and rip it right up the back because it's annoying and uncomfortable. Those tiny, blue c-a-r-d-s can only hide so much!

And Patti - That poor button on your white blouse was working overtime, girl!

LOL! Just think about how much of a work out the inner thigh area of all her pants and jeans must get. Can you say, "Brushfire"?? tee hee.

Hey, maybe she waxes it! That would fall into the category of a 'controlled burn' wouldn't it?

(A controlled burn is done by the fire department to slowly burn underbrush in a forest so the whole thing doesn't go up in flames, btw.)

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! 'Kay, now that just sounds well, very painful, but anything is possible. She could be trying to avoid a forest fire. :)

Girl you have once again made me pee my pants! .... Just the thought of her 'thighs' rubbing together ... gag. Maybe one of the next contestants for Survivor will bring her along as their 'one' item and use those fat legs to start the first fire ...!

Viv, don't try to hide your real feelings like that! LOL! I wonder if she invests in patches for the inner thigh region??? ;)

What am I hearing--Patti and Marybeth built alike? Nothing about the way they are built reminds me of each other.

As far as tight clothes on Patti--many find tight clothes sexier than looser ones.

I hesitate to say this, but I do think Jill is pregnant again. The last few times I've seen her, she's definitely looking like she has a growing bump.

Didn't she already announce that she was preggers again? Maybe I'm making stuff up ... I don't know ... but I agree, she does look pregnant. She is always wearing big tops and jackets that are just huge on her, which doesn't help.

If she did, I missed it, which is certainly entirely possible. It's just the last few times I've seen her that it didn't look like she gained a few pounds, it looked like she was growing a baby.

Bee, I haven't heard her announce it, nor have I heard the inevitable ensuing "congratulations" from all the callers who talk to her following such an announcement. I think you're making this stuff up! LOL

I read the Q BB often and I havent read anything about Jill being preggers. Normally when there is a big announcement like that, those women are "all over it."

Jill isn't pregnant. She just said on the Emme show that she hadn't lost the last 20 from her pregnancy.

Emme's clothes aren't knocking me dead. I think they're over-priced. She's a lovely woman, but the line isn't anything to write home about.
