Is already off to a boring start IMO. Yet another Omega TSV. How many of those have we seen over the years? Ho, hum.

Anyway, please post your comments/purchases (if any) here about the 2006 Klondike Gold Rush day. I'd like to know if anyone buys anything from it. I know I'm not buying the TSV.

Everything is so expensive! But i guesss thats where the 19 easy pays come in handy. hehe. I hate watching these 24 hour jewlery shows. They're always so boring. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

I watched for a few hours this morning...nothing really tempted me. I would like a really wide ham, mered gold ring--but nothing above 14 Kt., since the more gold, the easier it scratches.

I have been watching this morning and agree, there is nothing worth buying.

I think the TSV is pretty but like Hershey, its something we see all the time. What concerns me is the magnetic closure. My luck, I would buy a defective necklace and it would fall off my neck only to lose it.

As of this moment, I have purchased nothing.

Totally agree with Hershey ... another Omega?!? Push them down our throat why don't ya! SHEESH! lol ...

So far, nothing. I did see a two things that I liked in Lisa's show last night ... the alligator bracelet (FABULOUS) and the bold ring ... both are on waitlist.

I looked at all items over night ... yawn ...

I will admit (hehe) that I bought the Joan Rivers OTO last week, just to get the 19 easy pay thingy's ... so I'm waiting ... and watching ... I really want to buy SOMETHING! lol ...

Bee, I don't like Omega's, and come to think of it, I really don't care all that much for polished gold, as opposed to diamond cut, in general. JMHO, but I like my gold with some sparkle. :D

I'm not a huge necklace person in general. I don't personally care for the omega or neck wire look ... it's fine on others, I just don't like it on me. I'm more of a bracelet girl. Give me a big chunky gold link bracelet ... or even better, a couple of them ... and I'm happy!

Beekeeper, maybe you are like me in the sense that I like to wear jewelry I can see myself and enjoy, such as rings and bracelets. I always wear earrings which of course I can't see, to frame my face and because I have pierced ears. I certainly have necklaces, but not nearly as many as the items I can see and enjoy also while I'm wearing them.

J8184 - is it Barbi who posted above that she wanted a wide gold hammered ring? Lisa R. did present one last night which sold out in a lot of sizes. It was very wide yellow gold with a ring of white gold around it. I didn't like it much, although I do like hammered gold.

Hi Hershey.

My thing with necklaces is, I ADORE bracelets. LOVE LOVE LOVE them. I personally don't like to wear ensembles, or something everywhere. If I do wear a necklace, I don't wear bracelets ... and I'd much rather wear bracelets, therefore I rarely wear a necklace! lol ... for me, it's just too much.

Maybe you're right ... and it's because I can see and enjoy it myself. I don't know ...

I love omega necklaces. I have a yellow gold one I purchased about 6 six years ago. At the time, they were pretty expensive and weren't flexible at all. I didn't get that one from QVC, but I did purchase one during the last KGR.
I ruined it up a couple of months ago! I was putting it away and didn't realize I had a section hanging out. I shut the box on and it turn bent one of the links. Of course, it doesn't lay nice now. I think they are very classic. I was hoping to find a wide one in white gold today. I saw the TSV, but I don't care for reversible pieces and I don't want a magnetic closure.

I think QVC has really cut corners on the jewelry they are showing on the Gold Rush. The few pieces I've been interested in have not been made in Italy (don't they always tout the magnificence & quality of Italian gold?) but in Turkey, Bolivia (Bolivian gold?), and Thailand. More and more of QVC's former leverback earrings are now shepherd hooks, which are much cheaper to make and much less secure in the ear. Tsk, tsk, tsk. What about the "Q" in QVC?

I did break down and order J6612 to go with an Eterna Gold "Y" gold and freshwater pearl necklace I bought about a year ago. Eterna had earrings to match the necklace but I never liked them much and thought they were too expensive. I love the necklace, so am happy to find some earrings to go with it. I used one of the 19 Easy Pays I am due from having bought the Epiphany earring TSV.

I know gold prices have gone up..but these were supposedly special prices, and most items were $33 a gm and up.
I too, was disappointed by the Omega TSV and all the pendants.

I got J1166, the Lire pendant, and J8594 (2 pr) as gifts.
And I am on waitlist for J6609.

In my case, they gave you no time to change your mind..they shipped on the 17th, except for the plummeria pendent.

Hi Hershey,

Hope you like the earrings! I didn't end up buying anything ... for myself. I liked lots of things, but they all had really high price tags ($500 and up) so I held back. I did buy a couple things for Christmas gifts (puffed heart earrings, byzantine band rings) for Mom and girlfriends.

Don't they typically talk about how many MILLIONS of dollars worth of gold they bring in for this event? Maybe I missed it, but I didn't hear them mention that this time.

I forgot to say above, that I did talk to my Mom who from the sounds of it, did some serious damage yesterday. I'm thinking (hehe) that SOMEBODY (whistling, looking oh so sly) is getting gold for Christmas! :-)

Hey Bee! How'ya doing today? I have loved rose gold for years. It hasn't been readily available in my area until recently, so much of the RG I have is from the Q. It's just such a flattering color, on most women, I think.

Hey Linda, I'm great thanks! :-) Hope you are too.

I don't think rose gold is readily available anywhere in retail, at decent quantity anyway, other than the shopping channels. You may find a piece here and there ... but that's it. I wonder why ... ?!?

I've never really liked it, cuz it reminds me of Black Hills gold which I despise. But in the right piece, with the right gemstones ... it's gorgeous! I don't have any yet ...

Beekeeper, Hi! I heard JRT say more than a few times how many millions of dollars of gold they'd brought in, but I didn't pay attention to the amount, because I really try to tune out JRT's annoying "banter."

I'm envious of your getting gold for Xmas! Let us know what!
I once got a Byzantine band ring that was a QVC TSV home and sent it right back. It was very flimsy gold. I hope the one you ordered is much better than that TSV.

I like the TSV today and I saw a pair of tri-colored hoops a few days ago that I really liked better than the ones they showed today to match the bracelet. I called them this morning to get the info on the necklace that Pat was wearing - it was a very chunky gold necklace of dangling circles - the price was over $600 - a little too much to pay for trendy jewelry IMO. I'm looking for a heavier 20" rope so maybe there'll be something new tonight. I looked today at a local jewelers and found one that weighed 17 grams but it was $400. You really can't beat the Q on gold prices or selection. Silver either.

I agree w/ you Beekeeper but they have GREAT sales. They take a huge amount off clearance sales, not like two or three dollars when QVC has a sale, and there's often free S&H. Yes, the jewelry is pricier than on QVC but you are also getting a lot more, not the little flimsy pieces in the price ranges QVC likes to sell the most.

I've never had a problem with their quality, teena.
You may pay a little more but the gold designs are much more stylish and I think well made. Most of their gold comes from Italy, whereas QVC sells more and more gold (it appears to me) from places like Bolivia, Turkey, Dominican Republic, Thailand, etc. The Italians are renowned for their excellence in goldmaking. ShopNBC simply has better designs and more more substantial pieces. QVC really caters to the masses, so to speak, whereas ShipNBC sells more designer, unique pieces. "High end" "if you will" to use two way overused QVC host expressions.

beekeeper
08-24-2006, 05:39 AM
They do offer the free shipping quite often, which always helps. Their quality is second to none! But, there is a line ... you get what you pay for. They do typically tell you the gold gram weight too, something QVC only does on the high end pieces, if then!

ShopNBC has these Gold Blow Out shows, I don't know how often, the last one I saw was at the end of the year, but they do take hugh reductions. Their quality, at least on the higher end pieces is excellent. And they usually have free or 99 cent shipping when they have these shows.

beekeeper

lol ... what would I do for a Klondike bar? Hmmm .... it's sad how easy I am for a Klondike Bar! ;-)

Hershey, the pieces I received great. A pair of dangly heart earrings (J6678) for a girlfriend (very pretty - they were $69, now are $83) and one of two stackable byzantine rings (J5654), rose gold (was $49, now are $55) for my Mom. The white gold one hasn't arrived yet.

I'm a bit annoyed because the lid of the ring box broke when I opend it to inspect the ring. I guess it's alright, as long as the box for the white gold ring is ok ... I could put both in one box.

NOW, I'm searching the Q website for stuff I can buy using the remaining 16 (3) easy pay thingamajigs! lol ...

Bee, I'm glad your Byzantine rings aren't flimsy like the TSV one I ordered once and had to send back. I'm glad you are pleased with your purchases so far.

Surely you have an extra ring box around from all your - ahem - prior jewelry purchases? LOL

Hershey, I don't keep the boxes jewelry comes in. I don't even have the box my wedding ring came in ... I went thru a big "downsizing" a couple years ago ... I threw everything out! I do still have the box my Judith Ripka iolite ring came in, but it's not a ring box. I wish she would do a ring box instead of a big box and pouch! I wonder if this is how she does it at her boutiques ...

I bought a ring for my Mom's birthday last month, from JTV ... it didn't come in a box so I was out begging jewelry stores to give me a ring box. They wouldn't ... so, I ended up buying a piece of crap ring at TJmaxx, just for the box. sigh ... how pathetic is that! lol ...

I know I'll never use all of my 19 easy pays ... but I'm gonna give it my best shot! lol ...

I have ordered more expensive things from JTV, and they come in nice boxes. The ring I bought my Mom was only around $150. I guess they have their limits.

Even with their gemstones ... generally they come in little plastic box with clear lid. The higher end stones come in a little leather-like box with clear lid and locking latch. So they do have nice packaging ... but you have to pay to get it.

I actually wish they'd minimize the packaging too. I keep some of the velvet boxes expecially the bigger ones but I never keep the drawstring pouches even though they are really pretty. I recently bought a Sincerely Southwest silver necklace/chain that came in a little plastic zipper bag with a piece of gray paper that's supposed to prevent tarnish, that all was in a velvet bag, then in a velvet box LOL. Silly.
