I heard somewhere she was before becoming a host. Anyone know if she was or not?

She was a designer or buyer for the Sport Savvy line, I think. I don't think she modeled, unless she had to jump in in a pinch.

I don't think so...I heard she was a buyer before becoming a host, and that she had to go through the same interview/audition procedure as all other applicants, even though she already worked at the station. I really like Jasyne--she's so down-to-earth and not totally filled with herself as so many hosts are!

I see Jayne worked for Q before being a host but not as a model. Hmm.
She with a little more length in time will be a backbone host. There are several on Q now: Pat Dementri, Jill Bauer certainly was one till she took time off for her pregnancy. Sharon Faetsch, Marybeth Roe, and modest Lisa Mason are not full of themselves either but they have personalities even stronger than Jayne's and that why despite two having great lengthy track records on the Q are not backbone hosts as well. Still Jayne is slightly sexier and a good deal better to watch than Carolyn Gracie or Jane Rudolph Treacy(though the latter looking like Courtney Cox fits the attractive category better than Gracie).

Renai Elison was a model before becoming a host, then clothing designer.

Yes, QVC plays no favorites to its employees already there. Everyone who wishes to be a host has to try out just the same.

"Renai began her on-camera career as a QVC model and became the first model promoted to show host. After leaving QVC in 1996, she acted in numerous corporate videos, commercials and stage productions.

In 2000, Renai debuted her women's knitwear line on QVC called the "Renai Ellison" collection."

Quoted from a Renai bio site.

10 years off the Q as a host huh? She is days gone by as a host indeed. I guess that explains the rumour I heard about Jayne. Thanx.

From what I remember when Renai left QVC she went on to Texas to cohost Good Morning Dallas, then she had her clothing line.I really liked her.

She also co-hosted an early morning craft/decorating show (HGTV I think?) after she left QVC. I loved her on QVC but didn't like the personality she projected on the craft show--strange.

You're right. She was really kind of mainstream on that show.
But I always liked her.She was a real personality.

Jayne has talked on air before about having been a buyer for Quacker Factory stuff too.

I remember when she first came on and I was so glad to see a black woman host which opened the gates for more people of color. There was the Q host,Gwen who left. She actually filed a discrimination suit against QVC(her and another host who was really great named Victor).

Too much political correctness can result in reverse descrimination.

Didn't Jayne work with Fashion Formulas, a long-gone line of knits. It seems to me that is what she did. I love her. I think she is one of the best. She is really genuine. Also, she is one of the few who is actually from this area. Jane Treacy is another--not that I am comparing them.
