I need some help please! The plates, bowls, etc. that I use in my kitchen are all white. Lately though, I've started noticing some discoloration.

I've seen something similar with my Tupperware iced tea pitcher and my mother suggested that I put a little bleach in some water and soak it overnight. Then, of course, wash it carefully. It works on the plastic.

Anyone know if I can do the same on my Corningware dishes??? Or are there other suggestions?

It's a goofy topic, I know, but I really like this set and don't want to have to try to replace it.

Good luck with this Servaroonie. Believe me being from the Corning area, I have owned plenty of Corningware and was NEVER able to clean it, even with bleach. At one time, I believe they even made a cleaner. Anyway, I ended up throwing it out and buying stoneware. Sorry I couldnt be more help :(

VIM cream cleaner (the one made with bleach) works well for me and the Mr. Clean white Magic Erasers cleaning pads with "extra power" (pink packaging) get my white corning ware sparkling clean !!

I soaked my mom's corningware in Spic and Span powdered cleaner and all of the yellowed discoloration came off.................

Get yourself some BarKeeper's Friend, a cleanser in a shaker, sold where the Comet and Ajax are, and a scrubber sponge, and try this. It will remove any silverware marks. For yellowing, try any cleanser with Bleach. You will need to do this by hand on each item. BTW, you can still find new all-white Corelle at any WalMart, or any Corning/Corelle outlet store in an Outlet Mall.

I've never heard of white porcelain or the corning ware dis-coloring. My mom always had the corning ware (loved that it never broke!) ... but I remember it being very white!

As far as the tupperware goes, I don't think you can do anything about that one. The plastic gets worn down thru dishwashing, microwaving and food coloring ... the make-up of the plastic actually changes. I'm actually trying to avoid plastic of all kinds (in the kitchen) these days ... I've heard so many bad things about what it's doing to us!

Hi - this is my first time post have been reading for sometime now. I love my corningware - have the original pattern from 1970 and collect is everywhere - it is lightweight - mine is ovenproof, and very durable dark blue flower pattern - I keep it clean by soaking it in bleachwater and it works keeping it white and shiny - do not scrub with silver cleaning pads - use comet if it is really stained - with a soft cloth. My opinion is that corningware is the best collectable for the future - it lasts and lasts. I enjoy this board and all the gossip about QVC you gals/guys are the best!!

Barkeeper's Friend is the greatest!!. I clean my stainless steel tableware, cookware and sinks with it. It's been around since God was a boy. Best of all - it does not scratch.
