Did anyone else watch this the other day? Jill was host. I thought some of the pieces were beautiful, but they were way to pricey for me.

I don't know exactly what you're talking about, but I did see her hosting a show that had a gorgeous big chunky gold bracelet with touches of diamonique ... I thought to myself ... now THAT is my kind of diamonique! She also showed a hinged bangle that had pearls on the ends. Both pieces were very pretty, but quite pricey ($400 - $500 range).

I thought to myself, wow ... quite expensive for diamonique. More gold presense ...

Was this the show you are talking about?

I thought it was tacky, tacky, tacky. And totally missing the point.

I would never drop that kind of money on a Diamonique-studded peace symbol. I would (and have) bought pewter "peace" jewelry for a couple of bucks, and donated large sums to Global Exchange, Code Pink, Oxfam, etc.

This woman PATENTED the peace symbol? Puh-LEEEEEEEZE.

Curvi, has the woman never seen a photo from the 60's or 70's? Did it come to her in a dream? lol

Well, I didn't see this show, but I have worn an Affinity diamond peace sign necklace in sterling since last Christmas when my cat oh-so-thoughtfully gave it to me. How did he know I wanted it?

I don't see anything wrong or tacky about expressing the sentiment in a decent piece of jewelry.

Trademarking the peace symbol though is just flat out wrong.

The same could be said for any expensive piece of jewelry we buy, but we still buy it.

It's like buying a heart shaped piece of jewelry, just expressing a feeling. Nothing wrong with that.

If I remember right, doesn't Sally Coombs often wear a diamond peace symbol necklace?

Sorry if I offended anyone. That was not my intent.

I may be the class clown here, but a significant portion of my life for the past three years has been devoted to the anti-war movement (and there aren't a lot of laughs there). The peace symbol is very near and dear to my heart. With the world in the state it is in, I believe to exploit that symbol for profit ($126 for sterling earrings? $189 for a sterling medallion?) is deplorable. Peace as a fashion statement just doesn't work for me.

I am not making a fashion statement. I am making a statement that I think shouldn't be questioned just because I choose to wear an $89 necklace.

Affinity does a little diamond peace necklace too (in sterling).

Sadly, the cross has become a fasion accessory for many. I could certainly be wrong, but I think people choose to wear the peace symbol, because they want peace ... not cuz it's fashionable.

I understand what you are saying Curvi, and I hope I didn't offend you.
I guess I view the peace symbol more as a sentiment of peace, not so much as a politcal statement about the war. I mean who wouldn't want world peace? It's a wonderful ideal, like love, faith and hope.

Yes, I do think the cross has become a fashion accessory and I am probably guilty of that. Of course, the cross was an important symbol way before Christianity.

Duh ... :-( I'm sorry Panda! I read right over that part of your earlier post!

Again, my apologies. The presentation just rubbed me the wrong way, and I took it out here with a somewhat less than diplomatic post.

Peace?

Not a problem, Curvi. Feelings are running pretty high these last few days before the election, aren't they?

Yes they are--and my mouth definitely gets in the way of my manners!

Thanks.

Ever get a song stuck in your head and it drives you crazy? This one has been in mine for 2 days. I saw this appropriately titled thread and knew I had to post it...those who are familiar with it...sing along with me now....

As I walk through
This wicked world
Searchin' for light in the darkness of insanity.
I ask myself
Is all hope lost?
Is there only pain and hatred, and misery?

And each time I feel like this inside,
There's one thing I wanna know:
What's so funny 'bout peace love & understanding? Ohhhh
What's so funny 'bout peace love & understanding?

And as I walked on
Through troubled times
My spirit gets so downhearted sometimes
So where are the strong?
And who are the trusted?
And where is the harmony?
Sweet harmony.

'Cause each time I feel it slippin' away, just makes me wanna cry.
What's so funny 'bout peace love & understanding? Ohhhh
What's so funny 'bout peace love & understanding?

So where are the strong?
And who are the trusted?
And where is the harmony?
Sweet harmony.

'Cause each time I feel it slippin' away, just makes me wanna cry.
What's so funny 'bout peace love & understanding? Ohhhh
What's so funny 'bout peace love & understanding? Ohhhh
What's so funny 'bout peace love & understanding?

Kitten, I like the lyrics to the song you printed. Very meaningful.

I was not impressed by this new pricey line of Diamonique. Nothing seemed worth the money.
