Madonna has been speaking with a pseudo-English, rich snob, 1930's film star voice. It's very off-putting and sounds condescending to the listener especially when you think about the fact that she was born and raised in a lower-class area of Detroit and now acts as if she is ...well, as Lisa Robertson would say: "Old Money" !

Madonna had to do something to get her name in the media again, she is getting a little too old for the slut routine, now she is just looking like an old barfly.

Combining two threads--
"British comedian Sacha Baron Cohen (aka Borat) caused controversy during the MTV Europe Music Awards (EMAs) last night, by mocking Madonna.
...
After bringing out a baby, which he offered to sell to Madonna, Cohen said, 'My only concern is that this singing transvestite will not be such a good father.'"

Madonna is nothing but a publicity stunt & has been for a long time no matter what she says. She should have disappeared completely after her debut album way back in 83 because she's an average singer, performer & actress.

You mean MTV Europe still plays videos? Don't they have fine programs like Real World:Minsk or Pimp my Volvo to play all the time. :)

Madonna will return to Lilongwe orphanage in Malawi to adopt a baby girl, she told World Entertainment News Network. "I'm going to adopt another Malawian child very quickly. A baby girl this time...But first I would like to give Rocco and Lourdes a little time to get used to David." Next, trip, she'll take both Rocco & Lourdes with her; she adds, because "I want to open their minds to the rest of the world."
Aww. How sweet.
Maybe next year she can adopt a couple of kids from Darfur. If any of them are still living next year.

Don't understand how some people can take something so postive and turn it into a negtive.

Do you really think Madonna is doing this out of the goodness of her heart??

IMO yes...and some of you missed the boat on madonna. Madonna has never done something just for the sake of shocking, there is a reason behind everything she has done and always made it clear her purpose for shocking to raise awarness about issues people don't want to touch.
The book she put out many years back....what was that suppose to raise awareness of??

um how about womens rights ?
Why do men only get the job of objectiving women in a sexual way ?
why is it so taboo for a woman to talk about her pleasures ?
You really do know Madonna.

Amber, I respect your opinion and your loyalty to an entertainer that you admire.
I just don't understand why with all her millions, Madonna doesn't give some of her money to help solve the problem itself instead of adopting 2 children. Whether you agree or not, her "motive" HAS brought her an awful lot of publicity and I would 'buy into' her rationalisation of that if the week after she hadn't appeared on Regis and Kelly to promote her new children's book. That is the height of hypocrisy, but that in itself is Madonna's whole M/O.

I don't get what you mean sparks.
why is it so bad she adopted two children...how is that any differnt then any better then just giving them money.
aleast this way she is taking the kids back with her and able to teach them thing's they wouldnt learn where they were before.

Amber~ I don't want to offend you in regard to someone you admire so much. I simply feel that if madonna were so passionate about this cause, she would donate $$$$ and lots of it. It costs far more to build hospitals and schools (and help all of the victims) than it does to house, clothe, feed and educate 2 children that she has singled out. It's not "bad" that she adopted the child(ren), what I question is her true motive.
If you admire her, you won't see the other side to the argument, and that's okay! We are all free to admire and respect who we choose.

Of course sparks everyone can agree to disagree.
and just so you know, I love and admire madonna but I don't support or agree with everything she does. You can search my posts and it will prove that.
There are thing's I say "only for attention, silly" (Britney and madonna kiss)
But I just can't see madonna doing something like this, for the simple sake of gaining attention.
She's not that cold hearted.
Amber, I don't think anyone would call her adopting her kids cold hearted... not by any stetch of the imagination.
IMO, it might be misguided though I DO believe her intentions are good & noble.
amber
11-20-2006, 02:44 PM
Yeah I would agree with you there mel, she is misguided on that part, over her head maybe ? But that's my whole point on the thing, she did this with intentions of being good and noble.
Glad we could agree on that
Amber, I thought you always knew we agreed on that even though we didn't agree on the adoption itself?

I'm sorry Mel, your not the only one I've had a debate with over this subject, nor is this the only message board I've debated it with lol
