This weekend during a diamonique show, I heard Lisa Mason make the comment that "unlike some other hosts, I don't own everything, but I do own this piece and truly love it".

Obviously, Mary Beth comes to mind.

I couldn't believe she said that ... made me literally lol ...

Did anybody else hear/see this?

I heard that too Bee and I too thought of MBR of course. But I don't think Lisa just meant MBR. MB is definitely the worst offender at saying that, but a lot of hosts say they own things fairly frequently.

But yeah, I was kind of surprised also to hear her say that.

You're right Hershey, others do make the "I own this" claims often ... it's not just MB.

I just thought it was funny to hear.

She has an unpleasant edge to her, IMO. We've commented before on her almost vulgar comments. This one sounds catty. I wonder if she gets memos about what she says. I find her terribly insincere.

I think she goes in cycles. First she's on a pattern of vulgar with the burping etc. and then she smooths out for awhile. Granted I dont' see her every week, but it does make me think that someone tells her to crank it down a notch, and then she behaves and then comes back around to alley humor.

I think Lisa, probably like most of the hosts on QVC, reads these boards and pays attention to what we say. I think she was trying to get points for being honest more than being catty about MBR.

ITA!!! I find her totally insincere too! I also do not care for her efforts in putting a "hard sell" on viewers. She does it often. Just don't even like to tune in when she is on anymore.

I don't think there is a lot of sincerity there either. Sometimes it seems she is going through the motions.

She also made some comment about living in a "mobile home" on the diamonique show, along with making a comment in response to a caller about the "red light district".......that was on a different show.

Whether you like her or not, (I do), you have to, at the very least, admit that she doesn't speed talk right over whatever vendor she might be working with at the time, unlike Patti Reilly. Sure, she might have changed in some ways, but overall, I'd say that she is respectful of the vendors she works with.

Too bad she's not respectful to the customers who are calling in.

I DID acknowledge that she's changed in some ways Bee, and yes, I've seen her get snarky with some of the callers as well.

I was just making a comment that during her presentations, she not as obnoxious as Patti is with the vendors. JMO.

I like Lisa Mason fine, whatever. I personally don't care if the host talks over a vendor. I may be a minority, but I think I'm smart enough to figure out a product even if a vendor is talked over during part of a tour of that product. Let's face it, they go over every point of every item at least twice during a presentation ... so is it really a big deal? I should probably add that I watch the view every day, and am kinda used to "cross talk" lol ....

I don't think a host should ever be condescending to a caller. I'm not a fan of the callers ... but they shouldn't be talked down to.

Absolutely, Bee! Were it not for people like those callers, there would be no QVC. It's like inviting someone into your home; if you do, you should treat them with respect. Otherwise, don't invite them.

Hi Bee :)

I dont think she should be rude to callers either. I have heard her many times with her rude tone. To me Lisa has a very "flip" attitude regardless of who she is talking with ie callers, vendors.

I think Lisa just has a certain sense of humor that many people find a little abrasive or sarcastic. A lot of times I hear her say something that I find funny, but think could easily be misinterpreted. (Sort of like some posts on this board! LOL) She'd fit right in at my family's dinner table.

I'm not a Lisa hater ... I have always liked her, but she seems to be getting worse and worse. Maybe it's just my perception. I like her hosting the diamonique shows ... IMO, she does the best job of describing the jewelry. She just has her moments that piss me off! lol ...

I can assure you that it's not just your perception, she is getting worse.......I used to really love her as a host, but over the past year or two she's been changing; and it hasn't been for the better......

It is a big deal (well, relatively speaking of course to other big deals in my life LOL) when a designer is on, such as Kors, or Mackie, or whomever, and the host thinks whatever she has to say is more important that us hearing from the designer about his or her own work. I refer you to my Jill thread with Michael Kors. I won't go into all that again on this thread, but I do care if the host talks over the guest, esp. when it gets to be downright rude. I'm not there to listen to the host pontificate on what his or her idea of the product is, if the creator of the product is trying to give his or her version of it. That version trumps what I want to hear about!

I see your point Hershey. I guess I don't see it much in the shows on QVC that I choose to watch. I would much rather listen to Michal Kors than Jill (example).

I'd love to see someone try to talk over Joan Rivers! lol ...
