Oh, mark your calendars, it's almost here, time to empty the cookie jar of saved pennies and splurge. After Winter's doldrums, aren't you ready for some shiny Sterling to kick off the Spring Season ?? (Did I just audition for Show Host ?? Horrors !!).

Since the early 90s, when I started watching QVC, I still enjoy and get enthused over the annual Silver shows. They have items that will NOT be repeated, they always do. Rings and Earrings for me, How About YOU, what will you be watching for ??

I like BBSD also! In the past, I have purchased items for Christmas or my gift drawer.

Even though I'm not a fan of sterling, I watch. I just like jewelry ... period!

Does anybody know if they have designer pieces on during the day (Judith Ripka, RLM, etc.)?

Not me Bee. This is one event I have no trouble avoiding, although depending on the gem, I have indulged in silver and gems at TJ Maxx. Got a beautiful tourmaline in sterling from there recently. I can always have it re-set in gold.

ever since they gave JRT lots and lots of air time during this event, I avoid it like the plague!

Ah, the joys of watching on the Internet with speakers Off, and ordering Online !! All their goodies are loaded into the databases at Midnight, so if you want, say, rings, with this or that type of stone, just click on their home page for the TSV, or go and Search, that's what I do.

I cannot abide JRT. Want to take her and stuff her mouth with Downers, knock her out, tape her mouth shut ....... OK, I'll quit now, must not be mean ......... put her on overnights !! Fire Her !!

Bumping, because today's The Day. Lots of strange and wonderful Silver Goodies. How much will we have ordered by the end of the day ?? Back in the 90s, I confess to taking the day off from work and staying glued to the TV, but that of course was waaaay before they had QVC on the Internet. Now we can check the contents of each segment via good ol' broadband. I have not had good luck recently with the Q's jewelry so I may wind up passing on any goodies today. Please y'all share your thoughts on what you've seen and/or bought today !!

I purchased the Ecclisi tiger's eye watch.

By the way, the TSV is boring. I'd have expected a much more "wow" TSV for Silver Day. It's very ordinary, ho hum.

J16158 is a direct RLM knockoff, and a much lower price.
I notice QVC often has knockoffs of their own designers, at much lower prices. This is an example.

Hershey - I was thinking of getting that watch. I just received the Judith Ripka Tiger's eye beads. I still might buy the watch before the day is over. Be sure to let us know how you like it when it arrives!

Gojo, thanks - I will post a review when I get it!
I think it's a cool design, a huge amount of tiger's eye for the price, and it's on easy pay! Go for it, gojo! It would like great with the Ripka beads.
I've never really seen anything like it. And when you think of Joan Rivers' costume faux tiger's eye watches and their prices...it's hard to resist this one!

Funny, I don't care for the watch that much in the other colors. The mother of pearl sold out right away, and although I like MOP, I didn't like the color of it in the watch. The denim lapis looks cheap - I like pure deep blue lapis, and the rhodonite isn't nearly as versatile with my wardrobe. So if it hadn't been offered in the tiger's eye, which is a neutral that goes with everything, I wouldn't even have been tempted.

Oh, Jill is showing the MOP. It's on advance order.

I, too, used to just go crazy for this day. Now I'm mostly over it. I did watch at midnight though, because it's only 10:00 pm in my time zone. I agree that the TSV is ho-hum.

I only purchased one thing, although several others have tempted me. I got the Arte D'Argento curb link bracelet (J18451). It looked great on Lisa R last night and I've been waiting to see it since they kept showing it in the preview clips.

Happy silver shopping to those that are partaking today :)

Did anyone have the MISfortune of watching the show's launch at midnight, with JRT? OMG - what a motormouth she was. She could barely finish a sentence before she was on to the next. To say she was a bit overly enthusiastic about the silver - and not in a good, upbeat way - would be an understatement. She really needed to calm down about it all.

Beaglelvr, I looked at that just now online (didn't see it presented) and it is very pretty, and something I would like to wear. However, although I know gold and silver are both up in price, I'm really not used to paying $3/gram for sterling silver!! It's always been much cheaper than that on QVC. I was rather shocked at that price. There were some items today that were over $2.00 a gram and I was thinking that those prices were more than I'm used to on these silver days.

Wow Hershey, I never checked the price per gram. I usually don't. If I feel comfortable with the price of the item and feel it's worth it (in my mind), I'll just get it. I guess I should educate myself a bit more to save money. This was purchased with a gift card I received at Christmas, so I don't feel too badly. I love the bracelet and have been wanting one like this. I guess I'm partly paying for the Arte D'Argento name.

Just looked again - the 8" is a better per-gram price!

Hershey - I've been on a buying spree and was trying to be good...BUT...the way you put it sure made sense - I didn't realize it was on easy pay. Unfoturnately the Tiger's eye is sold out but I did go on waitlist! Thanks!

LOL, Gojo, you won't thank me when you get the bill LOL.
Seriously, it can't hurt to go on waitlist - you can always cancel it.
I think, though, that you'll be happy if you get it; it's very pretty and soooooo worth the price. And the easy pays do make it, well, easier.

Beaglelvr, I saw Lisa do a walkon with the bracelet you ordered - very pretty.
It occurred to me when I saw in live that I have a similar one I ordered once from Joe Esposito, which I like very much: J63048

I really hate all the shepherd hook earrings, instead of leverbacks. That's just being cheap. Love leverbacks, don't like shepherd hooks becaue I have to use those little stoppers so they don't fall out, and they don't lie right, either.

Darn, I missed that blue calcedony ring also. That is really the only thing that has tempted me so far. I am not impressed with the designs. What is the item number on the Ripka tiger's eye piece? I am hooked on Ripka, just received the set of 3 stack rings today that will be a TSV later this month.

Gojo, I thought I heard the host say this evening that the watch is on advance order. If that's the case, you will get yours. Advance order is different than waitlist. Waitlist orders may or may not be filled, but advance orders means there is stock that will be sent out on that advance date. I hope for your sake it's an advance order.

For anyone who did get that tiger's eye watch, or for anyone who just loves tiger's eye, there is a great value in a necklace over on HSN. I saw it presented at midnight. It's item # 216077. It would go great with the watch or even if you didn't get the watch, it's a huge necklace for the price of $29.90.

Cat-Lady
03-02-2007, 04:42 AM
Speaking of HSN, I just finished ordering from them, a superb value in sterling, item number 213-811, which is Seven sterling gemstone rings, each in a different cut-shape and a different gemstone, which I've had on my Wish List with them for a couple of weeks. You can see Paul's presentation of these by looking at their 24-hour product review, which actually allows you to check out the past Seven Days of products presented. They are rated Five Starts by two purchasers.

HSN not only allows you to make a Wish List with them, but also gives you a full week of product reviews. QVC has no Wish List (yet) and only gives you 24 hours of product review. Two very big points for HSN, IMHO.

I managed to avoid purchasing anything on BBSD, (altho I was tempted), knowing that I wanted these rings from HSN, from whom I have purchased a great deal of jewelry in the past year and have had ZERO compliants about, have kept everything and remain thrilled with all of it. I had had good luck with QVC until recently, as previously stated. Still feeling a bit "burned" by QVC, so will wait a bit before ordering any more jewelry from them.

Cat-Lady, I just discovered the other day that QVC has kind of a wish list, although inferior to HSN's. If you put something in your shopping cart at QVC it stays open for an hour. If you don't buy that shopping cart item, it goes intt your Shopping List, which is right underneath your shopping cart. There is no picture of the item, just the item # and description. However, the items you were interested in enough to put into your cart but didn't buy are still listed there for you.

I love HSN's wish list, and the fact that when something is on your list and it gets reduced in price, the price is also reduced on your list. So, by keeping something on your wish list, you can check and see when it goes on sale.

I really wanted that carnelian necklace that Rick showed - but at $115 and no easy pay, I took a pass. I ordered the stampato bracelet and the tanzanite/white beryl ring along with some other pieces that really caught my eye - bysantine ankle bracelet, regular bracelet, a pendant and a scroll ring.
Most of it was on easy pay and the merchandise looked really good.

I ended up ordering the stampato bracelet, the easy-pay finally tempted me. There just was not much else that attracted me. I can remember when there would be at least a dozen pieces on one of these days that I wanted.

Rebel_Mom

The Stampato bracelet finally came today. It is totally hollow! Stampato used to mean solid stamped links. These links are so light and so soft (as sterling is supposed to be) that I can see this getting damaged the first time I wear it. Going back tomorrow! I am better off buying silver through HSN and ShopNBC. It is a pretty bracelet, but what a piece of junk! :-(

hoosiergirl
03-13-2007, 04:50 AM
I, too, ordered the stampato. I think it's gorgeous. Stampato means "stamped", not solid. If that bracelet were solid silver it would be too heavy to wear and ridiculously expensive. I opened the box and said "Wow!" (and that's not something I do frequently). I have worn mine several times and had no problems. Sorry you were disappointed, R-M.

Rebel_Mom
03-13-2007, 04:08 PM
Hoosiergirl, the bracelet is pretty, but the hollowness (there are actually piercings in the back of the links) of the links plus the generic softness of sterling pretty much guarantees it won't be durable. Also, my husband was a jeweler, and when the "Stampato" links first became popular in gold, the name meant stamped, solid links. Obviously they were extremely heavy and expensive. Good luck with your bracelet!

Hoosier, I agree it is totally pretty and shiny. Like a lot of the other posters here, I am a total sparkle whore. On this subject, I organized all of my sterling jewelry the other day. There is no need for me to ever buy another piece of silver...but why do I think I will? lol...
