Bixsbite or red emerald last night on Tommy's show. If I could have afforded something extra right now I would have bought one. Pretty interesting stuff. Good to see something other than Tanzanite for a change.

Red emerald? Never heard of it ... is it cloudy and included like (most) green emeralds? Sorry I missed it.

The stuff they were showing actually looked pretty clear. More like a clear ruby but it had that emerald look to it, hard to explain. It also had that Paraiba "pop" or glow to it. The stuff they had really looked sweet. It's in the Baral family Here is an article on it: en.wikipediaSPAMSPAMSPAMSPAMSPAMSPAMwiki/Bixbite

The colors of bixbite on their website look more like pezzotaite. All the pictures of pezzotaite that I've seen have been heavily included. I've seen examples of bixbite that are red not raspberry. Since they are both in the beryl family, wonder if they're passing off pezzotaite for bixbite?

That would be interesting to know. Does JTV certify what they sell as being what they show? The stuff they showed on TV last night was clearer than the stuff on that web site.

What they show on the air is definitly bixbite...I don't think it's pretty at all and I love emeralds...The largest I saw was a .33ct. It would be cool it it was bigger, but with those tiny sizes and horrible clarity I don't understand the asking price, even though it is super rare.

It's really difficult to photogram gemstones. It's just related to the camera and photoediting software. I think the pictures of the gemstones always look worse than what they show on air. Also, they are selling multiple items, so the gemstone pictured maybe not be the one actually shown on air, but they should be similar.

I saw a .50 pointer. Bixbite apparently doesn't come in very large sizes. I guess it's all in the eye of the beholder because what I saw, at least on TV, looked pretty good to me. And everyone that knows about my posting I am certainly no apologist to JTV. I would tend to think what you see on camera would actually look worse than what you get in person.., especially if JTV is correct that they do not use any special lighting or camera tricks in there studios(I tend to believe they don't use tricks like that because if you notice most other networks you will see those artificial looking sparkles of light when they zoom in on a piece, you don't get that with JTV). btw...most of the red emeralds they showed last night were one or two only pieces.
