Is anyone watching the red carpet arrivals? JLo is wearing a very unflattering dress and it's sure not something I would have expected her to wear. It almost looks like a dress you'd wear if you were expecting. I know she and Marc Anthony have been trying, but who knows. Cameron Diaz lightened her hair. It sure looks a lot better than black!

I just turned it on; usually I enjoy the "pre-game" more than the actual show but I was out shopping for my new kitchen (woo hoo!!!). I'm looking forward to the opening sequence this year. DD and I went to Starbucks and got mozzarella and basil sandwiches and Safeway for mint chocolate chip ice cream and we're set for a glamorous and caloric evening in our jammies!

You're all set, Curvi. I'll be there in spirit; you're eating some of my favorite foods!

Curvigirl, OT, but if you are getting a new kitchen, you have to get a GE Advantium oven. I love mine. Its a microwave, a convection oven, regular oven, warmer, all in one.

Boring, Boring, Boring - this is the worst Oscar show ever - Love the Golden Globes -so much better. So many commercials - and Ellen is boring too,

Continuing OT: Kitty, we're hanging on to our existing fridge, stove/oven and dishwasher because they're all new, but I did buy a combination convection/microwave today. I've never used a convection oven and I can't wait to try it out! But I have to, since installation is about two months away when the new cabinets arrive

Back to the Oscars: Yawn. There were a few good moments. The best part was hanging out with my daughter, who isn't home much these days. In fact, as soon as it ended she got up, got dressed, and was off. (It's only 9:45 ish here.)

I loved Jodie Foster's hairdo, even though that 'do was more in style a couple of years ago. It still looked good on her. I also loved the way Gwyneth Paltrow looked (hair and dress), Helen Mirren's dress, and Cate Blanchett's dress.
The Oscars were way too long and a real snoozefest. DeGeneres was only mediocre as a host IMO.

Gwyneth looked stunning didn't she? In fact, she's never looked better. Jodie's hairstyle was very cute and hip.

Yep, it was soooo boring. Eddie Murphy left after Alan Arkin was declared the Best Supporting Actor winner. Arkin sure wasn't a favorite to win. I didn't see Little Miss Sunshine.

Jennifer, I saw Little Miss Sunshine--cute movie, but I was astonished that it was nominated for anything. And Alan Arkin's part was forgettable. I'm still scratching my head at that one.

But Eddie Murphy actually left? Wow.

Loved Cate Blanchett's dress. Didn't like Nicole Kidmans dress. The red tie around her neck looked tacky.

I'm not a big Ellen fan but thought she did an amazing job as the host.
I liked when she made Steven Spielberg take her picture with Clint Eastwood.

Little Miss Sunshine was a good movie. I think Alan Arkin did a great job and deserved to win. I didn't want Eddie Murphy to win because he seemed so cocky before the awards began. I'd have to see him in the movie to see if he deserved an award. I really don't have a desire to see Dreamgirls though. Didnt' look interesting to me.

Curvi -

The Academy doesn't seem very accepting of comedians, so that might be another reason Murphy didn't win.

There's a movie that I loved way back when, "Wait until Dark." Alan Arkin had a very creepy role in that movie.

The best moment of the show IMO was when the two assistants from The Devil Wore Prada were "arguing" over who was supposed to have brought Meryl her cappucino and everybody was laughing...and then when they cut to Meryl she had gone into character...that was hilarious.

Kitten, that was very funny, but I thought it had been planned beforehand.
Meryl Streep's Prada outfit looked awful on her, IMO.

I thought Meryl Streep looked great--if she was going shopping, or the grocery store!

More thoughts on Alan Arkin--DH was watching one of his favorites last night (Glengarry Glen Ross). Awesome ensemble cast, including AA. I should put this on the movie thread but if you've ever worked sales, and you're not bothered by profanity, check it out. Everyone in it deserved an award.
