And Iyanla VanZant said it: "The worse people act, the more they need healing." Sniping and picking and criticizing are not inborn behaviors. They are learned and implemented by people who have had great pain in their lives. No one wakes up one day and says, "Hey, my goal is to be an unpleasant grouch!" Children are carefully taught, in vicious, unspeakable ways, that it is safer to attack than to leave oneself vulnerable. Send kind thoughts to those you feel are affecting you negatively. They need the blessings.
Couldn't be more sincere.

As my dear 82-year old mother says, "You have to pray for people like that." I truly feel so blessed to be living with a saint. My mother inspires me every day.

Thanks, my dear, for the validation. Louis Utz, my bichon is doing just peachy. Do you know he'll only eat if I feed him from a spoon? I swear, HE owns this house and he's just letting me live here...until I'm of no use to him anymore. I love him to distraction.

Forensicat: Is there a male equivalent to "diva"? I think that's what your little Louis Utz is! Talk about a dog that was born with a silver spoon in his mouth! He hit the motherlode with you!

I always try to remember that 'People only act how they know.' And "there is no enlightening the unconscious."

Another gem from Maya Angelou----"When people show you who they are, BELIEVE them."

thanks for thread with doses of wisdom which will make one happier every minute of every day.
we just don't know what the other guy has endured.
i try to keep this in mind when someone drives like an idiot. i have no idea where that guy is going or why so slow/fast. maybe rushing to sick loved one in hospital.

Another that rings ever true: 'Some people don't hesitate to speak their minds because they have nothing to lose'.

How about "always treat others as you would have them treat you."
Also, "play nice, dammit."

Good stuff here, posters. I printed these posts out just in case I need these common-sense quotes.
