View Full Version : What Q product was a huge disappointment to you?

As for me, I ordered a darling Indigo Moon jacket but it absolutely reeked of some kind of dye or something. I must have washed it 10 times, and it just wouldn't go away. Had to send it back. Also, the TIPS do, indeed make your nails strong, but my cuticles got really thick and hard to groom.
Nick Chavez's hairspray had, again, an overwhelming fragrance that stayed with me forever. Sorry.
Also I cannot seem to master the "simple" craft of Marie Osmond's punch embroidery. Go figure.

Also infuriating was the coiling hose. It's quite an adventure when you attach a sprinkler to it and it follows you right back to the spigot. It went back.

Nick Chavez' craptastic 'Flocker', that made my hair look worse than before I used it.
Also, that swipe scratch cover for wood they had as a one-time only a couple of weeks ago. That is awful.

The Facial Flex
That's right. I bought it, damn it!! lol
I laughed so hard at how I looked while using it that I couldn't take it seriously, and I think it would cause wrinkles around the mouth by the stretching action. :O
Some of the jewelry has looked like cheap crap, mostly the gemstone rings I've purchased over the years........back they went! One of them was the channel set sapphire ring, that's been around for years, and MBR claims to own. Very black sapphires. I'd probably never order any gemstone rings from the Q again.

I, too, bought a Nick Chavez TSV some time ago and it did nothing for my hair. It went back and I haven't tried anything else of his since.

Well, I turned 46 this year and I just thought "Let's give it a go". I read many reviews on the Q site, and for the most part, they were very good.
I honestly think that contraption would stretch your skin. I'll bet that Nancy Sylk has had at least a little work done, because I don't see how that thing would ever achieve such a result as she has.

My sister in law and I always laughed at that presentation and especially when she brought out her cute but smaller than her husband, Tommy to demonstrate. With fibromyalgia, I bet I would have to ice my jaw after using that....Ha...

I was actually surprised at how crappy Jonathan's product was on my hair. I only got the shampoo/conditioner set, but it didn't lather at all and made my hair very dry. (he said the chemicals that make the lather are bad for your hair, but 'american's' don't believe something is being cleaned unless we see bubbles) I even let a couple of friends/family members try it to make sure i wasn't crazy or it wasn't just me. One good thing about the Q, by the time everyone used it, the bottles we almost half empty and they STILL gave me my money back :)

From Carol in Troy: That scotch-tape thingy that was supposed to cut the tape as you used it. Worked just one try. The tape slipped out of the tiny plastic guide and never again would fit in. Thought it was me until my friend announced she was sending hers back because it was totally useless.
Mine got sent back but no reply to my letter about it.
Love the Q. By the way, those with thin, feathery hair, might consider using Nick's Flocker as a setting gel just after shampooing. Otherwise, putting it on styled hair (I should know) becomes disaster. Happy Fourth Friends of the Board!

I'm really tired of the french wires on earrings. I just lost a gold earring because it slipped out of my ear. I know that style is probably cheaper to make than the post and clutch or lever back, but enough, already. Seems that's all the Q is selling these days.

I love the Facial Flex, no wrinkles here. The trick is to moisturize before you use it. It does work, but yes, I feel ridiculous using it. My boyfriend laughing at me doesn't help.

I was reading the comments recently on the QVC forum, and there are some new threads about Facial Flex. It seems that for certain individuals, it works fine and they swear by it; but, some of the posts were rather alarming as to seeing new lines forming only since using the contraption. I'd hate to take a chance on causing something irreversible. I'm glad I sent it back.

A set of angel pins by Lori Grenier. We ordered them only because one of the angels were named after my DD. Two of the pins broke within 1 and 2 times of putting them on. Snapped right in half.

I would never order this product myself, b/c of the exorbitant cost, but my Mother ordered the Perricone Facial Contour cream, which is $240, I believe.
She gave me about 1/4 of the tube. First of all, the smell is incredibly bad.....but they DO admit that during the presentations. Smells very funky, probably from the DMAE. More importantly, I did not see any change, whatsoever, in my skin. Not a bit.
I'd love to hear if anyone has ever tried this stuff and had noticeable results?
For that price, you'd think it would do it all!

LOL Linda LOL. You are as bad as me when it comes to face creams.
$240 is a whole heck of a lot of money to spend on something that doesnt work, I hope your mom sent it straight back to QVC.
I always wanted to try Perricone and countless other creams out there but its really cost prohibited for me. :(
Philosophy face products have always been a HUGE disappointment for me. I really wanted to love Purity Made Simple but it made me break out.

I ordered a TSV from one of the big silver days a couple of years ago. It was a multi-strand bracelet and the catch just simply would never work. I like the bracelet so I kept on wearing and then losing it and finding it again and finally just threw it somewhere and forgot about it. I was cleaning out my car the other day and found where I had thrown it - in the console! I was very disappointed because the silver jewelry from QVC has maintained decent quality and the non-designer pieces are very affordble.

I AM a sucker for face creams Garnet, I totally admit it! Ever since I turned 40, if it says "anti-aging", then I'm there! LOL!
My Mother's not one to send things back. She figures that maybe it takes time for this product to work, but for $240 big ones, I would hope to see results right away!
Sephora's (I know you don't have one :P) gives out small sample packets of everything in the Perricone line, with the exception of one neuropeptide cream........that sucker costs over $550!! OMG. That's nearly the price of let's say, a syringe full of Juvaderm. heh heh
I haven't been happy with the When Hope is Not Enough serum. Sticky, just seems to lay there. I'm starting to see real results from the Retin A, and at $18 a tube, it's well worth it.

I have decided the thing that bugs me most is earrings that should be right and left - and aren't - because it would cost too much to make the mirror image. The greek key earrings they are showing on the gold rush today are a prime example.

I must say, I've had two more experiences with QVC's customer service recently related to disappointing purchases, and their response has been outstanding. On the first one, they credited me for an item that was past 30 days (Ryka shoes that fell apart after about six weeks) AND credited my return shipping cost. The second item was about a week later, and being the princess that I am I called and said I wasn't happy about having to go to all the trouble of returning another item so soon--and they issued a UPS pick-up. While their merchandise may not always meet my expectations, I really am absolutely impressed with their service--which is why I'm willing to take a chance sometimes.

You are very fortunate,Curvy. I have not had that kind of luck with the
Customer Service folks. If it's been more than 30 days when it went bad (and there have been several instances), it's been SOL and we don't care that you've been a customer since 1989.

I returned the Italian coin bracelet. The coins were so large compared to the skimpy chain. If it had a bulkier, more quality chain, I may have kept it.
Also, the Travelon leather shoulder organizer has a strong odor, and the leather looks fake. I kept it but not really satisfied with it.
Jewelry is 'ify'. You really don't know what you're getting until it arrives. The camera has a way of making items appear bigger than the actual size.

I ordered a pair of white gold hoop earnings. One of the posts broke after only wearing them a few times.
I have sent items back to QVC after the thirty day period and have always gotten a refund.

My latest disappointment? Philosophy's Supernatural Poreless Flawless with SPF15. Philosophy's products gets high reviews on QVC's website. Could be a cult following that makes those reviews. Supernatural's Poreless, Flawless is nothing but a thick primer with a tint. It looked cakey and powdery on me. I could get the same results with a sunscreen and pressed powder. Overall it would be less expensive. Of course, Ojon's Tawaka was a huge dissappointment! I've been hesitant to try any shopping networks jewelry.

Hey BlueB's!
While I haven't actually bought the Philosophy product, I've applied it in Sephora's. I have to agree, it's seems too thick, and it's nothing like I thought it would be, and even the lightest shade is too dark for me. I'm finding that the same thing can be said for some of Laura Gellar's products.
While I like some, mostly the blushes and lipglosses, the foundations and concealers, such as caulk and the seamless concealer are way too heavy, greasy, and not nearly light enough.
As for the shopping networks jewelry, have you ever checked out ShopNBC?? Some of the best lines, IMO, are Generations 1911, if you like vintage, Gems Galore, and the Effy Collection.

I do watch some of ShopNBC's weekend jewelry shows. I've been impressed with some of the shows collections. I can't afford Sonia Bitton's pieces, but love watching all the same. I like Chuck Clemency's humor and he is great with the McCoy's! LOL! Laura Ramsey and that screeeeeching voice is too much. Thanks for the suggestions!

No prob, BlueB's!
Sonia Bitton's pieces are very nice, but they always try to explain away the exorbitant cost of her pieces by continually reminding everyone that they are SI clarity, and maybe G/H or H/I in color.
Now, that's probably much higher than say, the Affinity Diamond line at the Q, (Probably scraping the bottom of the barrel there), but it's certainly not in the same league as VS/VVS clarity/F (and up) colorless dias. Maybe then, the cost would be worth it.
I really like Chuck Clemency too! He's so funny. It's probably the only time I can stand watching the McCoy's.
As for the Ramsey's, they annoy me for some reason. I think they look more like brother and sister then husband and wife. :D
