I know that this subject seems so very trivial compared to the terrible loss of honeybees, but it has been on my mind for a week, so here goes......
A couple of weeks ago, QVC had a segment called "Gadgets and Gizmos." I checked those products offered--just out of curiosity. Almost all of the products had been given mostly one stars by customer reviewers. Last week, I wasn't near my computer, but I saw a demonstration featuring a car wash/screen cleaner, which boosted the power in your hose and cleaned screens and windows on the second floor levels. I thought it looked neat so I ordered one. Later I looked the product up and the reviews--without exception--were awful. I called and cancelled my order, and told the representative that I had read the reviews and no longer wanted the product. I wonder why the Q continues to offer junk. Some of the products have been carried by the Q for years. Is it because the products are usually low priced and the Q has decided the customer won't bother to send the product back? I love the new customer review system and I find I usually check the reviews before I order. It seems to me that if a product gets uniformly awful reviews, the Q would discontinue the product.

My guess is regardless of the p u r c h a s e-to-return ratio, if they have a warehouse full of the stuff to unload they just keep selling it.

I've read posts here and at the QVC board where people say something they bought was too expensive to return, etc. QVC counts on that.

BTW, there have been times when something has been SO bad/damaged/misrepresented I've called customer service and asked them to arrange a UPS pick-up, or I've called them after my trip to the post office, told them what my return costs were, and asked for my account to be credited. They've always accommodated me. My experiences with customer service have been great.

Skinsfan, did you happen to purchase a Karcher power washer??

I bought one for my husband last year, and it worked out great.

Linda Lou: Yes, we do have a Karcher power washer and I agree it works very well. This other product didn't need a lot of equipment (just screwed onto the hose), so I thought it would be easy. I seem to be on the lookout for the "miracle" invention that will wash my car, clean my house, and wash my clothes. LOL What bugs me about the Q is that their demonstrations look so effortless and so thorough in removing difficult dirt and grease, but these products don't work in my house.
Curvi: I agree with you. Absolutely no complaints about QVC's customer service-- very nice and accommodating.
