Just wondering if anyone here has the Pilates machine(s) offered on the Q, and if the program is difficult to learn/do?
I was reluctantly watching the Pilates show with Dan Wheeler last night, (ugh, wish he'd keep his socks on), and I'd love to give it a try, but have some back/neck/leg issues and don't want to wind up in a tangled up knot.
Feedback, anyone?

I have the Total Gym. It is very similar to Pilates. That is the only machine my spine dr. said is good for you, as it totally protects the back. I have used this machine for years and just love it. Great for toning and firming.....

I've seen the infomercials for the Total Gym.........seems a bit costly compared to Pilates.
Just wondering if anyone here with spine issues might have been able to use the Pilates machine with no problem.
Might not be for me.

I cannot use Pilates because I have joint issues with my hip/leg joint & Pilates exacerbates the problem greatly.

Thanks for letting me know, Toonce.
They are always saying how limber the Pilates makes you, so I thought it might be good for your spine. Looks like I won't be trying this.

I have back issues also, but from what I have learned the best cure is to strengthen your core, abs and back..I don't have a pilate machine but I do have the Windsor DVD's and after doing a lot of research bought Pilates for Dummies..I saw a show where they compared all the DVD's and this came out the highest.
So maybe instead of investing money in expensive equipment try a DVD first and see how your back feels. Always check with your Dr. of course, but I think no matter what you do you are going to feel some discomfort at first regardless, until you strengthen your back and ab muscles. I have learned one of the best things for back pain is to strength your abs.

You make some good points, and I have been advised to strengthen my abs re: my back. Thing is, I hate the typical ab exercises like sit ups or crunches! Ugh!
I also had the Windsor DVD set when it was sold on an infomercial.........they wound up at the next garage sale I had. lol Just didn't like 'em.
Eh, I'm always looking for the easy way out to stay in shape. Love my elliptical machine tho, just looking to add something new to the ol' routine. The Pilates LOOKS easy, but who knows?? That's why the thread.
I bought the latest Leslie Sansone "Walk Aerobic" tape 2 wks. ago And what is the new and improved exercises she has on there for "increased fat burning"????
Jogging. And she presents it to you as a "surprise" during the DVD. Never mentions it on the DVD jacket. OMG. Another waste of money! lol :D
