Regis and Kelly Announces Anniversary Celebration

Gifford to return for retrospective of show's 20 years

Live With Regis And Kelly has announced plans to celebrate the show’s 20th year on the air with a two week celebration beginning Monday, September 3.

Each day during the celebration, Regis and Kelly will look back at some of the moments that made the show unique. The festivities will conclude Friday, September 14, with a one hour special looking back at the show’s 20 years. Kathie Lee Gifford, who left the show in 2000, will return to the show to co-present the retrospective.

As part of the celebration, Live is teaming up with Chrysler for “Live’s 20th Anniversary Flashback Trivia A Go-Go.” Each day from August 20 – 31, the show will feature a clip from the archives as part of the popular trivia segment. One winner each day will win a Town & Country minivan from the automaker.

“Our 20th Anniversary is a huge milestone for the show,” commented Michael Gelman, executive producer of Live in a statement announcing the 20th anniversary plans. “Few television shows reach a year on the air, much less two decades. We’re proud that we’ve been able to bring fun, laughter and a positive start to the day to millions of viewers for so many years. At this point we’ve become part of the fabric of American pop culture.”

Wonder if Regis had something to do with KLG coming back. It seem like Gelman has something against her. I like her and I'm sure that will be wonderful for the ratings. I enjoyed the show when Kathie Lee was on, but I really enjoy Kelly. Is she perfect, no, but neither was KLG. You are never going to make everyone happy. I know I watch the show everyday (almost) and it really starts my day off with a smile.

Can someone please bring me up to date on the KLG & Gelman feud ?

At the time, I was not a regular viewer. I would only occasionally watch the show when I was home sick or on vacation from work.

I just started watching Regis and Kelly recently, so far ... so good. I don't love it, but it's fun. I typically watch the first part, then move on ...

It will be interesting to see Kathie Lee return.

This wll be a great show to tape; should be lots of funny stuff. I think it's only appropiate that KLG should be there for the 20 year anniversary.

The inside word back then was that KL always was pushing Gelman to have her friends be featured on the show, for whatever talent they had. I guess he felt some of her friends where not that worthy of showing their talents and not a ratings maker.

Also, the incidents with her wearing the sheer bra was very embarrassing for the show, though ratings did jump up. Gelman supposedly was livid over this.
There used to be a centerpiece of flowers on the table and Gelman started placing them right in front of KL so her boobs wouldn't be seen.

There were many arguments in Gelmans office.

Anything that KLG did could not compare to the embarrassment that Kelly has caused. KL was not gross and disgusting as Kelly. KL had class Kelly has none. Kelly has a dirty mind and is sooooo boring. Kelly doesn't realize she is pushing forty and she isn't the teenage cheerleader any longer. She is a mother and should be more responsible than she is.
