JRT what are you talking about?" The christmas tree come from Germany, it even dates pre-christian times! HUH? I know its totally commercialized and those who celebrate christmas do so to indulge in a bunch of materialistic crap they don't need but duh pre chrisitan times? I need to know what Christmas was about before the birth of Christ. I have a german background and have no idea what se's talking about. Maybe germans decorated trees but WTF?
Sorry you are anything but ENJOYABLE JRT. Are you that jealous of Jill not only did you steal her show idea but you had to take her phrase "enjoyable " as well. You are anything but creative ir enjoyable. STFU!

Huh?????? Christmas IS the celebration of Jesus' birth. They didn't have CHRISTmas before his birth.

Did you forget to take your meds or had a wee bit too much to drink?

Christmas does have Pagan roots. It's celebrated on Dec. 25 because that is the birthday of Mithra and the date of the Roman Saturnalia festival. Symbols like Christmas trees, yule logs, holly and mistletoe all have Pagan origins. Evergreen trees are fertility symbols and the lighs on the tree recall the rebirth of the sun, not the son, and the sacred bonfires.

One of life's funny little ironies, eh?

Jane's mouth was running ahead of her brain again. I almost feel sorry for her lately, it is like she is desperate to say anything just to keep on talking. If she had taken and breath and thought before she spoke, she probably would have referred to the pagan festival and how they used some of the same symbolism. Christmas trees before the birth of Christ - that is a classic!

JRT gets on my nerves sometimes but I think she does a good job with the home entertaining shows.

cannot stand JRT, never have, probably never will. Tried to watch the gem show last night, had to put it on mute right away. But, what is she doing to her hair? It's plastered down and so short, it just looks very odd. She looked like a flapper from 1920

Early Christians just took a Roman holdiay, the birth of the Sun God and adapted it to their own needs. Jesus wasn't even born in December, most likely March.Yule was celebrated long before the Christians made up the holdiay "Christmas." I am surprised everyone doesn't know this. There are many shows on TLC and Discovery channel that cover this.

And if you think that is funny, study the history of Easter sometime.

these holidays were adapted by the Christians from ancient pagans.

I am sooooo sick and tired of JRT yakking about her family, her heritage, her vacations, her ballet, anything BUT the item being shown. I want to see all of the available colors BEFORE it sells out...I don't care how that particular shade was a favorite of her sister, etc, ad nauseum. Stick to the presentation, not your life!!

Did anyone else notice the gold gown JRT had on last night?? It was another 50's nightmare. The dress looked fine from the neck to almost the waist. Then there was this full skirt with a horrible bow tied to the side - almost like a Christmas package on steroids. When you are bigger on the bottom, the last thing you need is an outfit that accentuates that part of you. Forget about QVC having a stylist (although supposedly they do) - do any of these people even look in a mirror before they come on air?

I saw that dress and hated it too! I also noticed that now, instead of moving her eyes up and looking up to one side, she looks straight up and holds up her arms and hands as if she were on stage or something. She is so dramatic and so over the top about everything. Just when I think she couldn't get any worse, she does!

I find desperate people to be really sad and more and more Jane has become a desperate un-housewife. I wonder if her perfect personal life is going down the tubes and all she has left is her perfect career?
