Linda? Rebel? Irish? Anyone? I don't have anything going, but like to read. Our public library is holding a 50% off sale on several style books. I have my eye on a few romance, cooking and mystery novels. I just started a new mystery novel; Three Shirt Deal by, Stephen J. Cannell. What are your plans?

Work. :-P I work weekends, but actually don't mind it. I'm off most of the workweek and find I get a lot more things done than fighting it out with every other person who's also off on the weekends.

Happy Belated Birthday, Linda Lou. I hope you enjoyed your day. My son's b-day was on the 14th.

I have no special plans for this weekend. My son has a b-day party to go to tomorrow so I'll probably do some shopping while he's there. Later on, do some cleaning/laundry & hopefully get some walking in. I've been putting that off. Saturday night we're having movie night. We borrowed a movie from the library.

I'm not sure yet what we're doing on Sunday.

I'm reading a "cozy" mystery called Lavender Lies by Susan Wittig Albert. It's a mystery series. I read a lot of mystery series by several authors. I get them from the library or place an order with them & they get the books from another library or they buy copies if no other branch has them.

Go to the gym, walk the dog, go groceries.

Catch the Dooney shows on Saturday; even though I don't buy from QVC I still like to see the colors, styles of bags. I go to the factory store and find great deals there.

Also, reading a good book right now. I love mysteries and have read all of Patricia Cornwell's books. They are so good, but now I am looking for another good author who writes mysteries as well. Any ideas?

Sunday, gym, walk the dog, visit Grandma, go to lunch with my son, go to the gym (again) with my son, then home to relax and back to work on Monday. It goes by too quickly.

I love all of her Kay Scarpetta books but haven't read the newest hardback yet. Maybe I'll get it for Christmas.
If you like mystery/suspense, do you read Tami Hoag? I've read most of her books. I'd start with A Thin Dark Line....that's my favorite.

Bluebutterflies,

I just read on Amazon.com what Three Shirt Deal was about & it sounds good.

Stephen J Cannell doesn't write for TV shows anymore, right? I've seen a few of his books at the library. (I liked when they showed him typing on his typewriter & then taking out the sheet of paper & throwing it in the air. And, after that, didn't they used to say "Sit Boo-Boo, sit."?)

Butterflies, it is a good thing there isn't a book sale like that around me tomorrow or I would be totally blowing off my food shopping plans. I always get my Thanksgiving food in during this weekend so I don't have to go near a grocery store with all the crazies next week. Saturday is a trip to Whole Foods with the daughter (who is an employee and gets a 20% discount) for produce and some staples that I love from there, then a trip to the Stop & Shop (my usual grocery store) and finally on Sunday, it is down to Stew Leonard's (a really neat local chain in CT) for an antibiotic free fresh turkey! I go with lists and I still end up forgetting something! All in all, I think I enjoy the preparation ritual as much as the meal.

Happy Birthday to Linda Lou! I hope you had a wonderful time and the cake sounds delicious.

Butterflies, I like to cook when I don't have to do it. The fun of the holidays to me (I think this is because I am Italian) is all about the food traditions. The cool thing is that I have totally brainwashed my kids - they only want the traditional dishes the way I make them every year. Good luck on your cookbook hunt - I love Mexican food also and am always on the lookout for quick and easy recipes.
