American Idol -- who will go?

Yes...I guess there are 3 weeks of 4 getting voted out, which brings them down to the final 12, and unless there are any surprises like wild cards...then we can get down to business.

I will say for the girls:

Amanda...looked really bad and sounded bad....poor man's Dilana
Alexandrea...looked good.....nice voice.... but strange song choice....she also doesn't take criticism well.

Although it should be Kady I think she may be more likeable.


Boys:

Jason......cringeworthy performance imo....he has a great voice, but so 90's in appearance and manner....I don't think he has an ounce of "cool" in him. lol

Luke....it's a toss up for me between him and Robbie...I'm just guessing who has more fans...Robbie may have won the NASCAR crowd with his personal segment...and I think Simon mentioned Luke not having charisma and I agree.

Let's see --- I like Amanda, BUT last night she totally sucked. So, she deserves to go. I wish she would have attempted a Grace Slick (Jefferson Airplane) song. I know she could have pullled it off! She disappointed me.

Oh and Asia'h -- not good at all. I don't care for her anyway.


Guys -----------

The blonde rocker -- he deserves to go. I don't like when people get cocky with Simon. I know Simon is rough, but damn, he's usually right. To me -- when you get cocky when the judges -- you are just dispalying arrogance! And when you're arrogant, you're basically telling the world that you are already great and there's no room for improvement! Just like what Danny did last week -- and he really turned me off!

The guy with dreadlocks deserves to go ----- I like him, but he's very VERY weak.

So, those are my 4 picks to go.

The voting public cut loose Alaina Whitaker, Jason Yeager, Robbie Carrico and Alexandrea Lushington, trimming the number of contestants to 16 Thursday night.

Whitaker, a 16-year-old from Tulsa, Okla., let out a sob after she heard the result.

The other "Idol" female contestants gathered on stage to lend moral support to Whitaker as she gave a final performance of "Hopelessly Devoted to You." Several contestants wiped away tears.

"You are a gifted, bright young talent. ... This is the start of an amazing career from you," said judge Paula Abdul, who gave Whitaker a standing ovation.

Simon Cowell wasn't surprised by Yeager's exit.

"Your problem -- quite simply -- is that you don't stand out in the crowd at the moment," the cranky judge told Yeager, a 28-year-old single dad from Grand Prairie, Texas.

Cowell told Carrico, who sang Foreigner's "Hot Blooded," that his rocker act "just never ever felt real." Carrico, 26, from Melbourne, Fla., was part of the pop group Boyz N Girlz United.

Lushington, a 17-year-old Douglasville, Ga., resident (and a snappy dresser and favorite of judge Randy Jackson's), displayed a lack of confidence Wednesday, acting sheepish and uncomfortable onstage, following her cover of Chicago's "If You Leave Me Now." Jackson said the '70s song didn't suit her youthful style.

A standout this week was 17-year-old David Archuleta, who sang a soulful cover of "Imagine."

Brooke White, 24, also scored a glowing review from Cowell for her bare-bones performance of "You're So Vain."

Cowell joked he thought the song was about him.

"American Idol," now running three times a week, will return to a twice-weekly schedule March 11 for the elimination of the final dozen. The decision-making finale will be held in May.

I don't know why they even let people like Danjaya (I don't know his real name, but I think it's the guy you're calling Danjaya - the guy who looks like a pretty girl dressed up as a guy) make it to the finals. I'm assuming it's for ratings only.

Simon has no trouble telling people during the auditions that they don't look like Idol material even IF they can sing. But, then they let on people like Sanjaya & Danjaya & many others make it to the finals. Those poor kids REALLY think they're Idol material. It's sad because they're only being used for ratings purposes. Seriously, can you imagine people actually buying tickets to see their concert? It would just be their family/friends in the audience.

The exception to that was Clay Aiken. He actually had a career going for a while & made a lot money. He probably still has jobs coming in. But, he could REALLY sing.

as for Sanjaya, I understood why he made it....his audition was very good, and his Hollywood time was good as well. I think nerves, age and inexperience got the better of him onstage and tv.


I thought Danjaya had a terrible audition, (I wouldn't have sent him to Hollywood based on that...wasn't he singing too fast and snapping his fingers? ick....), but now that he is onstage I actually like the timber of his voice....that Elvis number was horrid, but this week I enjoyed him. He can sing. He won't win, but he's not terrible.

I'm thinking that unless somebody has some sort of unbelievable performance....ala Fantasia (Summertime) or Bo Bice (acapella performance)...then it's going to be Carly Smithson and David Archuleta as final two.....they are both extremely likeable and extremely good. Show over. lol


Of course, I think Jennifer Hudson had one of those extraordinary performances with her Lion King song and it didn't help her....

My thoughts right now are that the Davids (all three) are the best of the guys...had liked the Aussie till this week (terrible)......and of the girls I still like Syesha...Asia'h (a bit less than before) and I do think Kristy Lee Cook is the best of the Carrie Underwood

Dark horse choices would be Ramiele and Jason...but don't see them going all the way to final two.

The kids that cannot possibly win so enjoy them now if you like them... are Danny....Luke....Amanda ....and Kady imo......Chikezie may go far, but he is like loveable George Huff... great, but too nicey nice..... and like Jason Yeager....old fashioned. (Gopher and Isaac from The Love Boat)

Clay Aiken Deftly Acts Supremely Silly

Let's clear things up right away: Clay Aiken can handle supremely silly.


That's not an inconsiderable talent when you are appearing in something as daffy as "Monty Python's Spamalot," the madcap medieval musical that has just added the "American Idol" alum to its cast.


We knew Aiken could sing. "Idol," television's favorite trial-by-fire, proved that. So it was only natural that Broadway, eager for new faces that might sell tickets, would call — just as it did for Fantasia, Frenchie Davis, Constantine Maroulis and others from "Idol."


But don't go expecting a star turn. Aiken is a team player — and that's meant as a compliment. The ingratiating performer fits seamlessly into the extended high jinks of "Spamalot," which has been running at the Shubert Theatre since March 2005.


The guy gets the goofy humor that is the Python trademark and goes with the flow, most prominently when he is portraying the perpetually petrified Sir Robin. It's one of three roles he plays in the musical.


Aiken also exudes the physical buffoonery that underlines the cartoonlike nature of the characters and their quest to find the Holy Grail. He radiates a delightful benign bewilderment. What's more, for someone born and raised in North Carolina, Aiken does a credible British accent.


And the rest of the production, directed by Mike Nichols, holds up quite nicely, too. The tale, concocted by "Python" legend Eric Idle, is loosely based on the movie "Monty Python and the Holy Grail," and film buffs will recognize some of their favorite bits from the film. Idle also wrote the lyrics and shares credit with John Du Prez for the music.


If there is anything approaching show-stopper status in this "Spamalot," it's the performance by Hannah Waddingham as the Lady of the Lake. The statuesque Waddingham, who originated the role in the London production, is sensational. She's funny, sexy and blessed with one of those powerhouse voices that really shakes up the score.


But then Nichols and choreographer Casey Nicholaw have kept the musical in tiptop shape. From Jonathan Hadary's robust King Arthur to the preening Galahad of Christopher Sieber (an original New York cast member who recently returned to the show) to Rick Holmes' sexually fluid Lancelot, the cast gets a high amount of laughs from low comedy.


And then there's Tom Deckman as the hilariously fey Prince Herbert and David Hibbard as the aptly named Patsy, singing and tapping his way through the show's best known moment of musical cheer, "Always Look on the Bright Side of Life." This is ensemble comic lunacy at its most inspired.


But attention Aiken fans. He appears in "Monty Python's Spamalot" only through May 4.
