Nice you are getting to plant some stuff...I'm just pissy about the weather here...the cold and snow wiped-out my daffodils...still snowing today...I've never seen such a cold, crappy Spring...

Really really busy right now -- it's track season, after all! Four track meets a week keep us busy!!! But it's fun. It seems I don't even get to look at the computer until 10:30 or 11:00, and by then you are all gone.... :(

Glad to hear you are getting all settled, PK>......have you lost anything you can't find back yet?? :D

I hope Scoops is having a fabulous time.....she deserves it. Although I haven't been watching the weather in FL, our weather has been terrific, and it's usually better there than here :) -- so hopefully she had great weather!

According to the thread that I bumped she said goodbye to us on Wed the 16th and said she was leaving the next day....

I used to drink beer, not too much anymore except for when I go out. I love Margaritas, but I was told that they are not that good at the place we went to. I rarely go out to happy hour anymore, now I am a homebody, if you guys ever decide to move down south we can go out! You would not be freezing your ass off and we can hit happy hour....

....took advantage of the extra nice weather here and cleaning out the flower beds, getting ready for planting soon.....checking out the garden centers and see what it is in....bought some pansies/violets since they can tough out the cooler temps...

Checking out my rose bushes and raspberry bushes and see new life :)

I really want to have a lot of blooms with the roses....what do I need to do ?

Any advice/hints....they really flourish, grow tall, new shoots but don't flower ???? grrrrr.......

Sammy -- take this for what it's worth, but I swear by this: roses need potassium -- which you can give them with banana peels. Throw them at the base of the rose bush (they will compost eventually) -- but you will have the most beautiful rose bushes. People ask us how we get such beautiful roses and that's my secret (which isn't really a secret any more).

Hi Sam!

To get your roses to bloom, give them less nitrogen and more phosphorus and potash...

Buy a good rose food that is something like 10-20-20. Also, are they getting plenty of light? They sound like they might be getting leggy because of light deprivation...

no turtles in my yard......haven't even seen a bunny yet !

Probably will go tomorrow and buy the fertizilier for the roses. I only have 3 rose bushes. One is very long and leggy and gets a good share of sun and the other get the opposite sun...the morning instead of the hotter afternoon soon. So each bush is only getting half a day of sun.

This is horrible weather you are having, it would make me grumpy....move closer down here, we will have a blast going to happy hour!! I will even buy you one or two.....

It is going pretty well, my goal is to stay with the company and to relocate to where I want to move, basically it depends on my job...not sure if I will rent or buy, so I am keeping my options open and looking at both....I would prefer to buy but renting does have its advantages. I am having fun looking at places online in the areas that I am interested in. One place had the walls inside painted pink and black- I would have painted that place before I put it on the market....

If you want roses and not a lot of work and trouble..as roses in general can be fussy

Go see if you can find "knockout Roses"

Bloom all year and no fuss at all.

Check them out...maybe google them as see if its something that might work for you.


I was so upset when I sold my house..I left behind around 8 Knockouts...I should of dug them up. :(

Thanks. I know there are some real hardy specimens out there. The ones I have I know are very tough. Snow or very cold weather doesn't bother them.
I don't even cover them !!

My plan is that I am going to water the roots more often as they are closer to the house and the roots probably don't get enough water & I am going to feed them.

My friend bought a house and she was telling me about how many gorgeous hydrangea bushes they had in the yard (she knows that bush is one of my faves) & when she moved in.........the bushes ......all the bushes left with the owner !!!!!!

Hi all....I couldn't get in here...tried the first time last night!!! I was having the same problems as Imee...and had to get in by searching google for old posts and entering that way...I came upon a post from 2006 and hooked in the back door. Then I got to this thread somehow, logged in and voila!!! I kept getting a Fedora test page.

Well, I missed you all, we had a great time and super weather!!!!!....I loved the Wilderness Lodge..it's very lively and fun.... and it's closer to the majority of the parks, but missed my animals at Animal Kingdom Lodge and the stellar Boma restaurant breakfast buffet.

We went on pretty much all of the rides several times and enjoyed every day to the fullest....I recommend the meal plan to anyone who goes....this is the first year we have done it and we saved a bundle considering we do sit down for the majority of our meals.

We had a celebrity sighting!!!!....when we were in Adventureland we decided to do the Tiki Room for a much needed break, and who came in and sat on the bench beside us with their baby but Drea de Matteo and Shooter Jennings!! At first I didn't recognize them, but my husband said hey that's Waylon Jennings son and the girl from the Sopranos!!! Imagine me not noticing...heavens!!!!....I was more concerned that the baby might be frightened by the fire god that comes out of the center of the room that noticing who they were. Nonetheless the baby was unfazed by the firegod and the thunder and lightening. : ) guess they know their child.

I of course stalked them...in an oh so cool non intrusive way (lol) outside to get a better look ...and i told a couple of other folks, lol....but we didn't approach them. They were with a youngish single guy....very low key, no nanny or entourage....seemed really regular. She is beautiful in person...dressed in a long flowy hippie style dress. so if you see pics of them at Magic Kingdom, it was on Sunday the 20th!!!
