Today's TSV has me wondering what it the most expensive item you have purchased from QVC? I cannot imagine spending $1,500 for a piece of jewelry from a home shopping channel. But, I did purchase a mattress for close to $900.
Would easy-pay tempt you to splurge on such an expensive item?
In general, I have a $200-$300 limit for something that is a good value.

The TSV is not the most expensive item in that show. I flipped on the channel & they were showing a gold and freshwater pearl necklace for $2997 for the longer length! I about fell over.

I've bought lots of things from the Q so it's hard to remember the prices of everything...but I'm sure I've never bought any one thing over $100.

I just checked the Q's website. I've known these people were out of touch lately, but this one is beyond belief. I thought the Pentax camera over the weekend was over the top, but it might have been useful to a genuine photographer. The jewelry prices are simply nuts. We've got people out here losing jobs, homes, medical SPAMSPAMSPAMSPAMSPAMSPAMSPAMSPAMSPAM. Farmers who were caught in the floods who are now up again the wall. Sorry, Q, I've got better places to put my (small) disposable income than into bling. (and yeah, folks, I'm aware that there are some people out there who are just going to jump on this gold. More money than good sense, I think) Sorry about the rant. This is just so unbelievable!!

You put a different light on it. I agree with you completely. It is offensive to have an expensive bracelet as a TSV.

While I agree with Hoosiergirl and would never make such an extravagant purchase, there is that small percent of the population who have no clue of the value of a $1000. Look when Cindy McCain can spend $700, 000 in one month on her amx and her kids average $50,000 a month they have no clue what the average joe is doing to get by. They are the kind of people who would buy todays TSV. I doubt the there are a couple hundred in stock. I have no "disposable " income no konger purchase from QVC but maybe more people are in my boat so the Q is catering the the Cindy types.
I spent over @100 on that stupid feather bed and learned my lesson. No more TV shopping for me.

I don't think I have ever spent over $300 (and I can't even remember what that might have been) on a shopping channel item. My road to perdition has been with mostly under to way under $100 items.

A bodipedic mattress for $325 that I love. I was nervous about purchasing it because how do you return a mattress? I thought I would take a chance and am glad I did cause I love it. Have had it since March 2007.

It's nice to know that I am not the only one who purchased a mattress from QVC! Thank goodness it worked out or my husband never would have let me live it down.
I love my QVC mattress too.

GP, why don't you start a thread about it? This particular thread is about expensive purchases, not charity.
I don't think you understand that purchases support many industries and thus provide jobs in this country.
Many of us do donate to charity. Right now I have a huge stack of stuff to take to Good Will. I have donated furniture, clothing, bedding and all sorts of usable goods. Just because we make purchases doesn't mean that we don't also support charities.

Are you feeling guilty about something?
Our purchases help some people keep their jobs. Many of us have been purchasing from QVC for a decade. Jobs have been plentiful during much of that time.
I imagine that most of our QVC items go to the Goodwill at some point. I have donated new items that took too long to return.
I hope that you or someone that you care about has not suffered a financial setback recently.

Golden Pond does raise some good points and I do think it is a sort of rreality check ---BUT I think we might be more receptive to Golden's message if it were not entirely preaching at us.
Know what I mean?

I guess I'm a snob then ... :-(
I bought a Arte d'Oro bracelet from the Q a few years ago that was (if I remember right) around $1400. For me, value pay is such a plus, mostly on the higher priced items. It's easier to swallow $300 (example) a month, than the total amount at one time. I shop around, and I've found that often the higher priced gold items are a great price compared to the items the Q is copying ... from Cartier, Tiffany, etc.
I've bought many higher priced items from ShopNBC. I like their selection much better, and they use much better gemstones and diamonds. Once again, at much better prices than what I see in the stores.
A bargain is a bargain, doesn't matter if you are shopping for sheets or a diamond ring IMO.

Thats true Bee!
Whatever one is shopping for, they have to shop for. Now my husband would just go and buy what it is he is shopping for... He isnt a "shopper" or comparsion shopper, but I doubt that very many men are.

Most expensive thing I bought from QVC.............Has to be a 14kt gold necklace or the Northern Nights Feather bed. Cant remember what was more expensive.
I dont spend big $$$$$ on the shopping networks on just one thing. However, I have been known to do some damage buying several things at once....LOL $$$
Edited to say. I did buy a Dooney and Bourke purse and that set me back over $200.
