Okay, since Jules is often bored while at work, thought we could help her waste some more time with this new game:
Example:
Coke or Diet Coke ?
(we know Jules will answer Diet Coke)
Let us begin:
Chunky Peanut Butter or Creamy Smooth ?
= both, however I do prefer chunky
next poster:
shower or bath :
TrevorsWhore

Bath..
If I had a shower chair, I might like to shower more often..
deeep thoughts.. he he he , not.

Tough one, but probably pie.
Cat or dog?
*waves to Sammy*
lmroland
07-31-2008, 02:46 AM
hmmm....another tough one!
I'd have to say dog.
Beer or wine?
KaliChris
07-31-2008, 02:57 AM
Wine
Two story house or one story house?
One story
McDonalds or Burger King?
Jules
07-31-2008, 04:17 AM
Neither.....it would make my 3 1/2 mile walk a day on the treadmill an effort in futility....
Do I answer my own questions, too?
Reading or watching a movie..?
I'd have to say both, depending on what book/movie it is....there's something very cathartic about getting lost in a story......
and I'm drinking a diet coke right now! I was actually thinking about using my points today. I am registerd at mycokerewards.com. I have over 1000 points but have never entered any of the sweepstakes that they have going on right now....
I take that back....I did play in the Home Depot $1000 gift card sweepstakes but didn't win, so I just started saving my points until something else really good comes along.
Jules
07-31-2008, 04:18 AM
And THANK YOU SKC!!!! Glad to see you're back. : )
Jules
07-31-2008, 05:26 AM
And since I'm already bored....I'll answer all the questions so far....except the McDonalds one, I already did that one....
Diet Coke
I don't like Peanut butter....
I love Sharon and Ozzy equally...
Dog...I'm allergic to cats.
Pie/Cake....not really either....but if I had to choose, I'd say....Key Lime Pie
Not really either (wine or beer), but if I had to choose, it'd be beer...during the summer months.....in winter time, I'd say wine...
One story house....less possiblity of injury, my children aren't the most graceful people in the world, lol....
Jules
07-31-2008, 07:51 AM
I guess I'll just ramble.....
So I hurt my back in March of 2007. Back pain is not fun, if you've had it you know what I'm talking about. And once you have a back injury, you ALWAYS have a back injury. The pain comes and goes, and I do back and stomach excercises to strengthen my back....for the most part it helps, but sometimes not.
It's been bothering me for about 2 weeks now, so I went into my medicine cabinet and found the pills they prescribed to me way back when...(do they expire after a year?) I don't know.....anyway, I've been taking percocet for the past couple of days, which seems to help, but only temporarily....
I'll take one and then within about 45 minutes or so, my lower back (where the pain is) will get all warm and numb, but that "good feeling/no pain" only lasts me about an hour or so, then I can feel the pain start creeping back into the lower part of my back.....it's on the left side, right above my butt, an inch or so to the left of my spine....
Of course, ONE percocet a day is enough...for ANYONE....if I took them "as directed" ...one every 6 hours, I'd be flat out retarded and damn near comatose....so I guess I'll just have to deal with it until I can get back to the doctor again. Which I'm putting off because I know he'll want me to do another MRI...which I am NOT FOND OF....I'm not claustrophobic, but it's hard to stay completely still for 45 minutes at a time...inevitably, I always have to sneeze or something....
Feels like someone is constantly jabbing me with a dull butter knife...

Jules
07-31-2008, 12:53 PM
So I've got nine minutes left....and my back is still hurting.....all I want to do right now is lay in the floor, but that would kick my "professionalism" down a notch, so I'll refrain.....

and since I'm so bored, I thought I would post random thoughts...
Jules
08-01-2008, 11:30 AM
I'm not gonna get one, of course, because it has 240 calories in it (160 from fat) and since I just SIT HERE all day, there'd be no way for me to work it off, plus my back hurts, so I can't just sit here and walk in place or do leg-lifts at my desk....
I mean, i guess I could....but I'm sure my Screaming in Pain would be a distraction for most folks around here.
Anyhoo....

08-04-2008, 10:08 AM
So I'm bored again, and I suppose that means more rambling....
Mr. Jules decided to remodel the living room this week....yea, I was horrified at first, too...not because I don't have any faith in my husband's handy-man abilities, but because I've never seen him do that kind of work before...maybe I shouldn't say "horrified"...more like Apprehensive...
So he ripped out all of the older style wood paneling (which left me staring at insulation and 2 by 4's) and he pulled up all the carpet in the living room and front room by the big picture window...
Looks weird right now, still in it's transition phase....he got all of the sheetrock back up on the walls, so I'm not staring at studs (unless I'm watching him work) anymore. It actually brightened up the whole living room. Looks better, more open. Tonight he's going to start painting/texturing. We have a carpet guy coming out about 2:45 this afternoon to measure and whatnot, and I've already picked out my carpet/pads (yes, stain resistant + 4 kids = a good idea)..
So I'm ready for my new living room. And just in time for football season. : )
Maybe I should put this on the "It's the Little Things" thread, because I'm incredibly happy about it.
I kept telling him how impressed I was with him, and kept encouraging him and praising his work...he's REALLY GOOD at it....and it's weird, because he seems to know how to do EVERYTHING, as far as handy-man work goes. I asked him, "Honey, where did you learn how to do all this?" He replied, "I paid attention in shop-class." : )
I'm serious, he's so good at it, he could start up a side business and do this professionally....of course, he'd have to get a license, business start up, etc.....
told you I was gonna ramble...

08-04-2008, 11:25 AM

Italian food or Chinese?
Jules
08-04-2008, 11:28 AM
Well, I only did that to compensate for how I acted when he told me what he was up to....
I was like, "OMG What are you gonna do?" and "Do you know how to do that stuff?" or "Honey, are you sure you know what you are doing?" Especially during the tearing down of the walls....
I felt bad for doubting him, so I was trying to be extra nice. : )

MikeRotch
08-04-2008, 01:15 PM
Jules have you ever thought of going in and asking your boss for more responsibilities? Sure you said you have a specific job but if I were that bored on a daily basis I would ask for something to do.
Or you could find more than one message board to lighten the load of everybody here.
Jules
08-05-2008, 04:05 AM
LOL, am I bothering you? I figured rambling on about my thoughts would help....or at least give me something to talk about. I don't want anymore responsibilities....it's actually pretty nice. Even though I bitch about it, I really do love this job....plus...it gives me a chance to relax....
.... because as soon as I get home I start dinner, put a load in the wash, feed the dogs.....then get the dinner on the table, feed all the hungry (what seems like Baby-Bird mouths just gaping open for food) kids, the husband, then I clean up the kitchen, put the clothes in the dryer, once I've done that, then I go start Bath Time for the little ones, which takes me another 45 minutes....while they are drying off and getting their PJ's on, I fold the clothes from the dryer and then go and herd them into the bathroom to dry their hair....
Then it's story time and I read to them for about 15 minutes (that's usually all it takes until they fall asleep) and then I finally get to sit down again (even though I sit most of the day) and watch whatever it is I decide to watch from my DVR list...don't know how I'd get to see any of "my shows" without that damn thing....
so yeah, that's just a little insight. Granted, I complain about being bored, but in all actuality....I love the idleness....
MikeRotch
08-05-2008, 10:03 AM
Bother me? No.........If you bothered me I would ignore you completely. It just seems odd that every few minutes or hours you are bored and you feel the need to share it as though somebody here should entertain you when you could just post.
What does your husband do once he gets home? I'm sure he must be tired but does he do anything? Maybe he helps and you left it out but............I wouldn't put up with that shit if he just sits down.
Jules
08-07-2008, 03:44 AM
He works outside in the heat (and it's been averaging 102 degrees) so when he gets home, he's just flat out exhausted. He helps when he can, but most of the time he just helps keep the kids outta my way while I'm doing the housework.
Jules
08-07-2008, 05:16 AM
....PLUS....
he's remodeling the entire living room, by himself....I would help him, actually I TRY to help him, but he wont let me because of my back problems...
He does pull his fair share of work around the house. I do all the "housewife" stuff, and he does all the manly duties....he mows, takes out the trash, fixes things, kills the spiders (which is rare, I keep my house spotless), etc. I don't want ya'll thinking that I do everything.....he is a wonderful husband and I am very much in love with him. : )

So the living room....he has textured all the walls and today is going to start painting...it's really coming along nicely. The carpet guys are coming out on the 22nd to lay our new carpet down. I'm so happy about that. Right now, the living room looks like it was decorated by a bunch of drunks, furniture everywhere but in it's place, pictures and mirrors and stuff in a corner, etc....

So I have a story....
This morning I stopped to get gas...it was around 6:15 this morning and I'm standing there pumping the fuel, and this white ghetto scraggly guy comes up OUT OF NOWHERE! And it's still dark at 6:15am....so setting the stage: It's dark, I'm pumping fuel, a woman alone.....
He goes, "Give me a dollar."
I said, "I dont have any cash, my husband has it all..."
He goes, "Look in your purse and check for me, I need a dollar, ma'am"
I said, "I don't have my purse with me." (It was on the floor in front of the passenger seat)
So he WALKS AROUND MY CAR, LOOKING IN ALL OF THE WINDOWS....MY WINDOWS ARE DARK TINTED, SO HE CUPS HIS HANDS AROUND HIS EYES AND STICKS HIS FREAKIN FACE UP AGAINST MY PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW!
omg....SO he says, "Fine. Thanks ~ALOT~" and walks off. I told my husband about it and he goes, "That's it....I'm filling up your car from now on. No way am I letting you go by yourself, especially when it's dark outside!"
MikeRotch

That's kind of scary but seems like a total over reaction by your husband....to never fill up again alone even if he said especially if it's dark. Maybe be more careful about the time of day you fill up or who is around but not so dramatic.
You have a lot angsty sort of weak moments don't you? Do you live in a high crime area?
I'm curious...Are you mousy?
Anyway I didn't realize it was still dark out at 6 where you are. I wonder what time it gets light out further west??Seems like it's starting to get light out by 5 something here..at least enough where I don't consider it dark.

I do live in a high crime area........he came out of NOWHERE....also, there are alot of Section 8 housing properties within 50 yards from the gas station I stopped at.
I'm not mousy. I can hold my own. I use to teach self defense classes and kickboxing for women...

That's too bad that you live in a bad area. I don't see how section 8 fits into that though...
Have you ever taken Karate? I know you can clear out a board with your brain but can you break a board with your forehead?

Jules you are exactly right, my friend is a police detective and he told me no women should ever fill up alone early in the morning or at night.

They are government assisted housing additions...and they are GHETTO....it's not uncommon to hear sirens at all hours of the night...and it's weird...I live in a nice neighborhood, lots of older and retired folk...and then you go half a mile (east, west, or south) and it turns into the slums....
I have taken (and taught) self defense classes, so I know I would be allright...but..I just wasnt paying attention and that dude caught me off guard, which was my own mistake.
*side note*
I was teaching this self defense class at the gym one year, and I was teaching women how to empower themselves with the word "no" and I was making them scream "NO!", you know, over and over....and this one lady who was always so quiet and seemed so "small"....well, it was her turn and she belted out a NO like no ones business and ended up "messing herself" from the force of it, omg....

Ok, so anyway...I'm off work tomorrow....
I have an appointment to get an MRI at 2:45 at the hospital. My back has been killing me, even with the Percocet. I went to the doctor a few days ago and he gave me some muscle relaxers (Flexoril) but those don't do anything for me....so I guess we'll see what's going on with my back. I got up this morning and it hurt so bad, so I layed down on the floor and had Mr. Jules sit on my back and it popped all the way up.....he jumped up off me, thinking he hurt me and I just kept laying there, moaning "ohhhhh, that felt so good"...he said, "honey, it shouldn't pop like that, it's not right..."
I realize that, but it HAS to pop to relieve some of that pressure, otherwise I would be even more miserable....I feel so old. I didn't realize I missed my 80th birthday...ha ha....

I knew what section 8 was just not how it related because well the only section 8 houses I know are just regular people and not 'ghetto'.
So did the lady come back to class? My friend and I were actually talking about something similar the other day about what if (fill in the blank) happend and whether or not we could go back to scene of our 'crimes'. I think it would be hysterical and could.

Good luck. Hopefully it won't be too serious or they can find something to better treat you.
Maybe you used your treadmill waaaaaay too much...
Have you tried a different mattress, Jules?
I suffered for almost twenty years with an awful back and finally found the perfect mattress (one of those adjustable comfort source ones). I haven't had much trouble since...
Just a thought....
Anyway, I hope you get your back feeling better soon!

Mikey,
The people who live in the apartments are 90% gang members.....THAT is why I said Ghetto...I wasn't meaning to generalize the Section 8 people, that's just how it is here...
Jinh,
I have tried different mattresses and nothing helps....the MRI will let me know what exactly is going on....I had my doctor feel my lower back, and all he said was "Hmm...that doesnt feel right..."
Nice. Real Nice.

It was a 6 week course and that "shit" happened on the third week. She was coincidentally "ill" the 4th and 5th week, but came back for the 6th week, because she prepaid for the course and was just wasting her money by not showing up. No one said anything, but you could tell she was on edge the whole time, she kept nervously glancing at all the other participants...it was eating her up. But...no one mentioned it. ha ha. We were ALL THINKING ABOUT IT, though! LOL

there is two section 8s blocks from where I live the closet ones is the next block over and what a difference it is...you go down my street and pass the section 8 apartments and then the same street but a block away seems that you are in a different area...
both section 8 places where i live there is all sorts of people...normal people, wacko people, and im sure there is some gang members there too....but you can find these sorts in regular homes even in the nicest areas...
jules how do you know that 90% of the people there are gang members? I cant imagine them comeing to a pretty woman telling you "hey how are you i belong to a gang" and i cant imagine you going to door to door asking who is in a gang and who is not....to me it seems you are going by their looks...looks can be decieving you know? i know here the middle school they dress gangsta and try to act like gangsta because they think it is cute..and not one of them is in a gang...they dress gangsta but they go home and watch hanna mantana (what gangster does that???) .it could be just the style that you see....doesnt mean they belong to a gang...

I am on section 8 and I do that to people all the time at gas stations.. how do you think I get my gas these days!?? One dollar at a time!
IN oregon, gas station workers, fill the cars with gas.. we only have to open our window enough to slide out a bill or a card.. and we like it that way.. we have no plans or provisions to make it self serve..
My MIL is the biggest Born again Christian I've ever known, yet she will not rent to section 8 people...
I asked her one time what she would do if a man came knocking dressed funny - in sandals, with long hair and on section 8, would she turn him away...she said something like "they're always trouble"...and then I said, "what if it was Jesus you just turned away?"
She couldn't answer...

Ask your MIL why doesn't own more expensive property so to avoid the problem altogether.

Section 8 does not allow criminals.. they cant even VISIT you, even if its your own kids.
so I doubt the program is riddled with Gang members.. and horrible people.
I have it in front of me so I will write what the rules are:
Applicants who engage in any form of violent or drug related criminal activity will be ineligible to apply for housing assistance for a period of five years from the date of the last commission of said activity;
This includes illegal drugs, violent crimes, property crimes...
AND For drugs... you dont even have to be convicted.
You will be terminated from Section 8 if:
A. There is reasonable cause to beleive that the person abuses alcohol in a way that interferes with the health, safety pr right to peaceful enjoyment of the premises by other residents.
B. There is reasonable case to beleive that the person's pattern of illegal use of a controlled substance or a pattern of abuse of alcohol that may interfere with the health and safety or right to peaceful enjoyment of the other residents.
C. There is evidence that has been a pattern of illegal use of a controlled substance or a pattern of abuse of alcohol thats interferes with the safety of the public at large (including property) including but not limited to repeated DUII's, or repeated arrests that involve such patters of abuse.
There is more but I am bored.
Jules

I should print that off and distribute it to all the management offices of those properties.

The Program itself does criminal history checks for when you first get on the program, then you are inspected every 6 months and then you are re-evaluated every year.
BUt as far as the people who do not have convictions and can be terminated for behaviors, your right, its up to the Managers of the properties.
AND the neighbors around them, for sure!
