Mia, do you think, considering that the voters rejected this twice, that they will be happy about that?

Novalee, NYC had not felt the impact of SPAMSPAMSPAMSPAMSPAMSPAMSPAMSPAMSPAMSPAMSPAMs and the economy until the Wall Street crisis. I think it's better to have somebody at the helm like Bloomberg rather then to take a risk with somebody else. New Yorkers are a strange bunch and some may feel that he should be punished for not allowing the voters to decide & so they may not vote for him.
Below are excerpts from an article written in September. Lehman's alone had 12,000 employees in the city.
NEW YORK (Reuters) - New York City cannot cut its way out of a $2.3 billion budget deficit spawned by Wall Street's sliding profits and might have to look at other ways to raise revenues, Mayor Michael Bloomberg said on Monday.
CRUEL RIPPLE EFFECT
Wall Street's losses sting New York City because this industry's total compensation is about 35 percent of all wages and salaries paid in the city. Each job in the financial sector creates from one to as many as four service jobs, at companies ranging from shops to law firms, economists say.

You know, Mia, I don't think I ever really thought about how much it would impact NYC. It's devastating for all of us, but so many of those firms are such a vital part of that place. Well, if you're happy with it, I hope it works out well for all of you. What a mess this is!
Somewhere I read or heard that 160,000 people may lose their jobs. Can you imagine the trickle down effect?
At this time, I think we need somebody with a strong financial background to help the city overcome this mess.

If the voters really don't like it, he won't win. I haven't read about anyone else dying to step up to the plate there...so I don't think he is muscling someone else out of their opportunity.
