Awww I just saw a clip of him addressing his staff and kinda saying an official thank you and goodbye to them. He was joking with them and smiling. Made me smile and my heart feel good just seeing him like that. He is looking younger already. =)

I can only imagine the relief he is feeling to leave his administration. Maybe not, maybe he's sad about it all, which I can understand, but come January, he and Laura can high tail it back home and have a life.
I missed his speech, so hope to see it later sometime today.

Cindy, The clip that I saw was only about 15 seconds of his transition speech;
President Bush, " As Jan 20th draws near some of you may be anxious about finding a new job, or a new place to live,(he pauses here then says) I know how you feel(and gives a little laugh).
The entire 6 minute speech is here:

<<<I am going to miss Laura Bush. She was a wonderful first lady. I love her.>>>
I agree Amber, wasn't she just a sweet lady?
Can you just see her taking Michelle and the girls around the private quarters of The White House, showing them around?
Can you even imagine what that feeling must be like? Knowing that you are moving into The White House?
'Wow' is all I can say--that's got to be some feeling :)

Oh totally G. And you know Laura will be so sweet and kind and classy with them. It must be so exiting for those little girls.
It would be cool if they would film them taking a tour of the white house and seeing the girls reaction to everything.
Plus I think it would be cool to get a peak at the white house. I always love watching specials were they take a tour of it.

WHY ISN'T THE INCOMING SCUM CONCENTRATING ON THE ECONOMIC/POLITICAL/BUSINESS ILLS THAT THE COUNTRY IS GOING THROUGH--instead OF SO-CALLED 'FRILLS' FOR HIS CHILDREN! HOW MUCH ILL-AFFORDED TAX-PAYER MONEY IS BEING WASTED--THAT could be BETTER SPENT ON JOBLESS BENEFITS FOR THE UNEMPLOYED instead OF INDULGING WHITE HOUSE EXTRAVANNCE!

Amber, no excuses now, you must plan on a trip to DC and just get in line at the White House for the tour.
Especially now that your man is in, it will mean so much more to you! Honestly, I am so excited for you. Please start planning a trip for after January, it's no hassle, just get in line and you will be taken through.
Then we all want to hear about it. C'mon girl, start planning!

<<<Curious G..who was president when you went ?>>>>
It was none other than the Great Stainmaker--Bill Clinton ;)
Even though he wasn't my fav, I totally enjoyed my visit (I don't think the Oval Office was on the tour that day, lol.)
We got to see him on Veteran's Day (I remember posting about it here) because I said how handsome and attractive he was (and, I'm NOT a fan) so you know he must be hot, lol.
Sorry, didn't mean to be 'bossy,' but you have to go, you will love it and remember it forever. And who knows, you may even run into Barack! Wouldn't that be a thrill for you?

LOL not a fan of Clinton either G. But that is so cool that you got to meet him. Wow....a president, that is cool, no matter who it is.
And I believe you about Clinton.
you know it's interesting, because I have a friend who also met Clinton. Said the same thing as you, however he was a huge Clinton fan, so I kinda always blew it off. But that is interesting I guess it makes me curious to meet him now. LOL
Only joking about the "bossy" thing lol, but yes your right that would be so awesome and I promise if I do go and happen to meet Barack I will definitely tell everyone about it. LOL

lol, I didn't "meet" him, I got to "look" at him . . . big difference; I don't want to start any rumors, lol.
I was holding the video cam, he walked right in front of me, (you can tell because the camera starts to shake, lol) and then he was gone.
But it was a day we will all remember :)

I went to DC in '63, I was 18 years old and went on our senior trip there.
Seen "parts" of the Whitehouse, but not much, but was an amazing trip, especially for someone who is only 18 years old. I know *I'll* never forget that trip.
Always wanted to go back someday, so far haven't been able to.
My sister, nephew and I took a tour of the West Wing together in 1998 - it was pretty cool, but everything, including the Oval office is much smaller than you would think...the press room was tiny!

How funny Cindy...
I was there in 58 under the same circumstances... What a great trip it was... We hit NYC, too... My boyfriend and I met a cabbie who gave us a night time tour of the city... Most of it was off the meter, too... I was still 17, but you could buy beer at 18 there... So, I "changed" my driver's license just a little so I could have a beer with dinner.... I think the waitress was aware of the ruse, but didn't push it...

Oh, I could tell some stories about my experience there.
We didn't get to NY, but stopped in Pennsylvania, due to the bus breaking down. We were in those Pennsylvania mountains and it was something else. Had to wait for another bus to pick us up.
We went to this one resteraunt and was allowed to get wine. I remember having one glass and was wasted...lol

Wow -- a video camera -- I don't think we were even allowed to bring still cameras in last spring.
I loved our tour -- complete with the conversations with the Secret Service dudes......a memory that will definitely be forever etched in my mind.....
I was thinking the other day -- I wonder if BO has ever even stepped foot inside the WH?

You're darn tootin' no cameras allowed in The White House, lol.
The video cam was at the Veteran's Memorial ceremony we attended. The tour of the WH was on another day and it was just the regular run of the mill one, no bells and whistles.

Oh, I see......
All I really remember is that they didn't look too thrilled when I asked if it would be ok if I put duct tape over the photo of Bill Clinton......LOL -- I said it was making my tour too difficult!!! (We had been kidding around with the secret service guys, so we weren't fearful of getting kicked out......)
